Working with Nobuko has been great! She has been able to pick up on a number of ailments in my body even when I didn't tell her. Nobuko is clearly very knowledgeable about the body and honest about any limits with the treatments. I've been feeling better after working with Nobuko for counterstrain after a short time. Apparently, there are very few providers (outside of DO doctors) that do this work. A plus is that she is also a trained OT, so she brings a really unique perspective to her work. Nobuko is a gem and I highly recommend giving her a try if you're experiencing pain!

She is kind, professional, accommodating and more than willing to work with you to make sure your client feels taken care of, beyond expectations. She worked with our bride to ensure she was happy with her hair and makeup well in advance of her wedding day so that come the day of it was the last thing she had to worry about. Instead of this being a stress point, as it is at times, the hair and makeup portion of the evening became the time for our bride to relax, breathe and reset before walking down the aisle. I was able to book with Nora for a haircut about three days out, and online. The SMS (text message) reminders made it easy to show up on time. It definitely feels like hanging out in someone's cool loft apartment. Banter was friendly, positive, and slightly snarky. The second floor location is nicer than being in a window, it feels more exclusive. It's not just philosophically better to support a local business you love, as opposed to a micro-chain, it just feels so much better.

I now live in Seattle but spent about 7 years in California. Frank and May always kept me right during those years. I finally made my way back to the town this past weekend and got the pleasure of getting a cut by Frank. I got to say, it was absolutely amazing. My wife loved the cut too which is always a plus! Best pedicure I’ve gotten in a while. The woman was very thorough (I even fell asleep on the chair) and my nails look amazing. This will be my regular shop from now on.
No frills nail salon, a bit more old school as they dont have the newest/trendiest products but they have regular nail polish + gel + dip + acrylic + gel X. Really enjoyed my gel manicure today and I think they did a solid job. The only man manicurist there was damn quick and shaped my nails to a perfect almond shape. I want that uncle for my next appt! Minus 1 star as I dont think they sterilize their equipment between usage and the UV light machine has no sensor so I had to keep reminding the lady to turn on the light so that my nails can cure.

Found my nail salon home and I can’t believe it’s been nearby where I live this whole time. I’ve gone to Lan I think 3-4 times now for my fills and she hasn’t disappointed me yet and usually I’d pay around $70 for designs at other salons but the prices have been so reasonable! Lunar New Year Cat Eye stamped nails by O! The best Japanese gel nails done by the best nail professional. Meant to post this earlier but I have been caught up in my first home purchase (sorry O!). I smile every time I look at my nails and it's the ONE self care item that I can do that stays solid until my next appointment with O. She is booked up MONTHS in advance so be AWARE of this and patient. You want the BEST nail tech, you have to book her in advance and she IS worth the wait. Be sure to tip her for what she is worth also because she really puts her heart and soul into her nail artistry and craft. Thank you O! Her studio is very clean and tucked away inside a series of shops in Montclair. Bathroom is always clean in the back also.

Pink does the best nails in Oakland. Hands down! She always tries to accommodate my schedule to get me in when needed. She has an incredible skill set and all the coolest colors and supplies- glow in the dark, matte, jewels and super unique designs. Pink is my go to girl and I am so lucky I found her!
Vanessa is really talented. She cleans your nails, cares about the health of your nails and works with precision. She has an incredible variety of colors and types of polish. This is coming from a person who gets just color and doesn't get to experience all of Vanessa's talents. She is one of those rare people that really takes pride in doing a good job.
My gel polish actually lasts 4+ weeks and I am constantly working with my hands in food, water, paint and clay. I change it out every 4 weeks only because my nails grow out quickly.

Just got my first gel manicure here and am super happy with it! Alexis is new to the salon and did a fabulous job. I had shown her an inspiration pic and she stopped after applying the the first nail’s polish (that I had chosen), asking if the color was okay because it didn’t quite match the photo i’d shown her. She was so right, stopped to pick the perfect color, and resumed the service without missing a beat. Now I’m walking home taking pics of my nails with every cute flower patch I see!

I brought my daughters to Betty back in 2008/9 for prom and let me tell you , she is a miracle way maker! She did an absolutely beautiful job, used about 100 bobbi pins and my daughters hair stayed in place , in tact until the next day. Fast forward 20 years later, we went back to Betty to do my daughters hair for her wedding. Just like 20 years ago Betty did a fenominal job! I highly recommend Betty for it all, customer service and stylist! I have to find my daughter's recent hair done by Betty for her wedding. Stay tuned.

After spending a lot of time and money trying out different estheticians to only end up with more acne, I finally found Kim! Unlike many other estheticians, Kim’s approach is very thorough, measured, calm, and grounded. Other estheticians I’ve seen focus so heavily on trying out different products without ever addressing the root cause of the acne. They immediately start with harsh actives and they don’t really take the time to deeply understand what is going on with your skin.
Kim’s approach is completely different. She starts with (by far!!!) the most thorough evaluation. She gets to understand everything about your lifestyle, diet, habits, etc. She even looks at and evaluates every ingredient of every product you use on your skin and hair, all the medication and supplements you take, etc. She asks super thoughtful questions and she really listens!! She is so kind and makes you feel immediately comfortable, which is so important because of how much anxiety skin issues can bring up.
After the evaluation, she starts you on a very simple routine. Then when you start treatments, she does the most thorough extractions ever and effective but gentle chemical peels (along with other treatments depending on what you need!). She consistently reassesses how your skin is doing and makes any adjustments necessary to your routine and/or makes suggestions for lifestyle/diet/etc changes.
At every appointment, she checks in - not just to see how your skin is doing, but also to see how you are doing! She goes above and beyond to take care of her clients as full human beings. She does such thoughtful things like making tea for every session and sharing resources she thinks will be helpful for skin and non-skin related things!

These folks know what they’re doing. I’m 45-I had given up. I figured out how to love myself and that was it! Or so I thought. I recently moved to the area and I don’t why but I googled acne extractions. These guys came up and let me tell you-it was the right move. I’m THREE weeks in and have seen more improvement than acutane, differen, tretinoin…you get it. Acne is such a tough journey-give these guys a try.
I booked with Kaily, her skin was glowing and I was like cool another girly pop with perfect skin is gonna tell me how to deal with acne. BUT she had run the gamut too! The ONLY flaw in this place is that everyone’s skin is like glass. They need to have pics of their before’s so you KNOW you’re in the company of a friend, an acne friend.

I found O Tattoo on yelp and was drawn to the female owned studio. All the artists' bios with their work made it easy to focus in on whose style was a match for what I wanted done. The studio was bright, clean and relaxed. It felt like going in for a self care day. I had a tattoo by Arie and worked with her by email to narrow down what I was looking for- flowery, flowing fine line piece that incorporated a tattoo I already had. Arie created a few designs that were just as I'd hoped for. I am very pleased. Arie was friendly, professional and gentle. I've already recommended her and O Tattoo to a friend.

They helped me search for the right size and even when I was willing to just pay a stupid amount just to get what I needed, they gave me a great deal! A great shop and great people!
I got my first tattoo a week ago and could not be more pleased with the results. It was a father/college-aged-son matching tattoo outing, and Chummy was engaging and thoughtful with both ends of the age spectrum. He is a consummate professional, whose care and attention to hygiene, his clients, and his art are impressive. While I am not sure if I will be getting any more tattoos, if I do, I will be certain to return to Tattoo 13 and look for Chummy.

Dee was gentle, professional and conscientious. I had 3 previous piercings that I thought needed to be repierced (because other places have done just that, rammed a needle in anew) but Dee did stretching rather than piercing. She explained that this would cut my healing time down drastically. It also saved me money because she charged the stretching fee instead of a piercing fee. The jewelry selection was also gorgeous, and she created one piece for me to match the other two that wasn’t even in the display case! I highly recommend this clean, professional and highly gorgeous woman for all your piercing needs.
First time here. This shop is incredible! Beautiful inside and out. My artist was Randy. He's has 20+ yrs experience tattooing and it shows! He uses top of the tier numbing spray and I could barely feel it. The colors are so saturated and vibrant and his line work is crispy clean! He made me feel safe and at ease the entire time. He offered me snacks and bottled water. I will be back many many times. The shop is also BIPOC owned and run. And LGBTQIA+ inclusive.

Had the most wonderful experience here. I’ve worked in the tattoo industry and have been tattooed by many artist working at many shops. My experience here was everything I would have ever wanted from a tattoo shop. I was tattooed by the artist Roo(ster). She not only was extremely professional but her bedside manner was incredible too. I was offered: drinks and snacks, given pillows, even offered a heater as the sun went down bc it was a little chilly. She has such a soft touch I even was falling asleep as she tattooed me. Also she timed the session as to not overcharge me in anyway and would stop the timer when we needed a break. She was pleasant to chat with and made the time go by so fast. I recommend this shop to anyone especially if it’s your first tattoo… go see Roo. The care and effort I experienced there was exceptional. Five stars !

On a Saturday morning, a real person answered the phone, and within two hours, Gilberto arrived and fixed a bad leak in the bathroom shower in less than 30 minutes, at a price that was fair. He gave a clear estimate and had everything he needed to get the job done fast. The pipes and fixtures are more than 70 years old, so it was not an easy job but Gil had no problem with it.
We had Toto's Plumbing replace our sewer line in Lafayette in Oct. 2022. Raul, Benjamin and the rest of the crew were friendly, fast, efficient, neat, and did a great job. They easily completed the work on budget and on time. We strongly recommend them.
… and honestly I really didn't know what to expect when I called them, but wow was I impressed. they came out super fast even tho it was a busy Saturday and the guy who showed up was so nice and just got straight to work without any of that hard sell nonsense. had a pretty gross backup in teh kitchen sink and it was cleared out in notime, like I barely had to clean up after. its rare for a plumbing repair to actually make you feel good about the experience but they definately made my whole day. the price seemed totally fair too, felt like they actually cared about fixing the problem not just milking my wallet, so yeah I will absolutely call them again. the whole thing from start to finish was so smooth it was almost weird any more?

I had Water Leak Detective come out because part of my yard kept staying wet, and I suspected something was wrong with my sprinklers. The technician quickly found an irrigation leak that I never would’ve located on my own. They showed me exactly where the break was and explained what needed to be done to fix it. Super professional, fast, and very knowledgeable. I’m glad I called them.

My water bill was extremely high this month and I had no idea why. I called pg&e and they said I had a water leak somewhere in my house. After calling around I decided on USA leak detector because they were able to get me an appointment the same day. They were able to pin point exactly where I had a leak. Steve was able to come out and fix my problem in 20 minutes which end up saving me a lot of money. He was extremely knowledgeable and didnt mind providing insight. I highly suggest them for fast and efficient work I’ll be calling USA leak detector for all my plumbing needs!

Excellent to work with and reasonable pricing. I have an amateur's level of electrical wiring knowledge, and I felt very comfortable with Darius's recommendations and good advice. He re-wired for 220 in the kitchen and installed the induction stove outlet plus ran wire for and installed the electric car charger. He and his team were also careful on site. We had some other contractor scheduling snafu's and Darius adapted with us smoothly. Will use again.

Alvaro, the Electrician, was running ahead of schedule and called to see if it was OK to come early. I appreciated the call as it was perfect for my schedule. In addition to resolving the problem, Alvaro showed me what was wrong, what he did, and explained the impact of this electrical issue and how to move forward in the future without overloading the breaker. I could not have been happier with a company than I was with All Seasons Construction. The entire drainage project was clearly delineated, the project (digging down 10 1/2 ft. and covering the foundation with impermeable material so that the studio below the garage would no longer have water damage). On some days, there were 12 men working to complete the project before the next rain storm! So appreciated the speed with which the project was completed.
The first and most important point is that Juarez's work is immaculate and beautiful. The worksmanship is truly amazing. In addition, we are not remodeling experts and trusted Job with decisions. He came through with flying colors, suggesting beautiful but cost effective approaches. When we needed help, for example, moving out of the home at the appropriate time, he helped us with everything - packing our things, suggesting places to store them, and then conducting the move. When Job and his team were working in our home, it is as if a family member was doing the work. We absolutely love our remodeled home.
We hired Build Group to take our dirt yard and build corten metal pathways and to build a concrete slab. Fidel walked through with me and gave me a bid after crunching the numbers. I got two other bids from existing crews I have used and hired Build the next day. They got to work immediately, and they were the most professional team we have had working here. We were so impressed with their attention to detail and smart solutions and diligent labor every single day they were here. So happy so far with their work. When you embark on something as big and overwhelming as a home remodel, it’s incredibly reassuring to work with a contractor you can truly trust. With Anderson Moraes and his crew, that’s exactly what we had when we remodeled our Berkeley home.
Our project was significant: we added a bedroom and bathroom, reframed the entire roof, remodeled the kitchen, and re-sided the house. Our architect recommended that we get a bid from Anderson, and from our very first meeting, my wife and I could tell that he is a genuinely kind and honest person.
When we received bids, Anderson’s came in right in the middle. While we were reviewing them, he was always available by phone to answer specific questions and was open to thoughtful negotiation when appropriate. Ultimately, we felt confident that his team would deliver quality work and that Anderson is a trustworthy man who understands the responsibility that comes with the work he does.
Over the year-long process, it was a pleasure getting to know Anderson and his crew. The care they put into their craft is inspiring, and their skill set is impressive—they truly do everything: foundation work, roof framing, electrical, finish work, custom cabinets, and cedar shingle siding installation. A literal jack-of-all-trades team.
That said, not everything was rainbows and unicorns all the time. We had a few minor disagreements along the way—details around the foundation, pricing for window trim, electrical panel costs, and similar items. But throughout it all, Anderson remained calm, reasonable, and solution-oriented, and we were always able to find outcomes that worked for both sides.
In the end, I’m happy to say that this year-long remodel was remarkably low-stress, and much of that is due to Anderson and his crew being hardworking, skilled, and, most importantly, trustworthy.
We reached out to Eric for a quote and he was quick to respond and gave answers to all of my questions. In the end we choose to not use concrete for our driveway project, so we did not hire him and his team. I think they would have done a great job, we just went in a different direction.
Mano, Nico, and Crew designed and installed my greywater system about 5 years ago. I had a maintenance visit maybe 18 months after, and none in the last three years. Oops! My bad! The system has been working great though, despite lack of maintenance. The pump is solid and the lines out to the garden are all patent. Hoping to install a rain water system soon. I cannot overstate how great the team at Root Volume is on every level. Over the course of 6 months they transformed our back yard from a dangerously precipitous slope of dirt and buried garbage to a wonderland of embarrassing beauty.
They did it all by hand, carrying every bit of dirt, wood, brick and stone to our backyard (not an accessible spot for machinery), crafting out of it a meandering and naturalistic garden with several areas for seating and tables; a beautiful cedar hot tub and patio landing that they built on a steep slope and that required a full overhaul of our electrical system; a natural riverbed drainage system; native plants and trees with a top notch irrigation system that runs itself; drystone walls that look like ancient Scotland...I could go on and on.
The backyard is my favorite place in the world and over the last year it has become wildly alive, verdant, filled with fruits and trees and birds and bees. It manages to be both sophisticated and unpretentious, wild and tamed, and always full of surprises. This Spring the willow grew 10 feet, the fig tree was pregnant with fruit, and the passionfruit vine burgeoned into a fruity vine monster that covers the fence. But that's not even why you should hire Root Volume. They are a collective of lovely, creative, flexible, kind, hard-working, ecologically committed, deeply knowledgable and honest people who each and every one have tremendous integrity. I was sad when they were done because I enjoyed their presence so much. They bring good humor, humility and a willingness to both teach and take/integrate feedback. I've become much more interested and invested in horticulture as i've learned to tend to the life in our beautiful garden, and owe so much to them. I've given about a 100 people their info because everyone who comes here wants to know WHO DID THIS? As you can see, I can't recommend them highly enough. --Deb

We hired Ingrid to help us tackle some major yard improvements and provide ongoing maintenance, and working with her has been an absolute gift. She approached our original improvement project with so much care, knowledge, and creativity, helping us reimagine the front yard while also respecting what was already there.
Over time, she’s truly brought our garden back to full health. She added beautiful flowering plants throughout the yard, helped support and maintain our edible garden so everything stays healthy and productive, and has been consistently proactive about identifying issues before they become bigger problems. The whole space feels more vibrant, balanced, and alive because of her care.
We’ve also had some setbacks along the way — including established plants being uprooted during storms — and Ingrid was thoughtful and resourceful in helping us reassess the yard afterward. She helped us rethink parts of the landscape, sourced and acquired new plants for us, and guided the space back into shape with patience and expertise.
Beyond her gardening knowledge, Ingrid is deeply collaborative. She listens closely, offers thoughtful ideas, and makes the process feel like a genuine partnership rather than just a service. We’ve learned so much from her, and our yard has been completely transformed because of her work. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.

A man with a vision! Hiring Keith Stover, (Nature's Design), to beautify the front area of my house was an amazing experience. He already works on my mom's garden, which is breathtakingly beautiful, and for my birthday she split the cost with me to have him work his magic at my house. I know very little about such things so I really trusted him and his vision, and I am so grateful. He was very attentive to my tastes and listen to my ideas. He often gave me options to choose which I liked best. Very quickly we were on the same page about all of the little things that would make me happy.
When the first estimate was a little higher than my budget, he pared it down and we focused on the most important areas - and he was still able to make it totally beautiful.
Keith was a pleasure. He has a quiet demeanor. He and his assistant were super respectful and it was clear right away that they really care about doing everything right. He stuck to the schedule, he worked super hard and it was immediately evident that he is someone who is very proud of his work, regardless of the size of the project.
I'm actually saving money so I can hire him again to add some of the things that were outside the scope of last year's project.
They installed an irrigation system and showed me how to program the timer, but honestly I haven't had to touch it. It just works. Everything grew. Everything still looks healthy and gorgeous. It's really the gift that keeps on giving. I'm really proud of my garden, and it really is the result of Keith's vision, Keith's design and Keith's implementation. He's SO GOOD! You should call him and get on his schedule because I imagine he's pretty busy making magic happen :-)

We are so happy we found Four Dimensions Landscape Company and that they were willing to take on our very steep and challenging hillside project. Shout out to Chris Garcia who worked closely with us through every step in the process - an extremely knowledgeable, professional, reliable, and considerate project manager. The three-man crew was great and remained positive throughout the difficult steep hill work. We wanted all native plantings, especially those that would attract birds. Four Dimensions fully knows our native plants and bird-friendly ones as well, and delivered big time and within our budget. We are very grateful for 4D! Highest possible recommendation.

We worked with Lazar on an extensive backyard remodeling project that took approximately 4 1/2 months. Lazar is a design build shop and they did a great job in the design phase and in the build phase. The most impressive aspect was the quality of workmanship and that fact that I had four guys on the job every day!!!! I would highly recommend Lazar for your next backyard project!!!

We love Dr. Denise and Uptown Pediatric Dentistry! My little one is always comfortable and actually looks forward to coming, big plus!. The staff is pleasant, the inside is cute/playful and overall we’ve never had an issue with anything. Professional, punctual, and you can tell there is a genuine love for what they do here. If I had to find one issue, I would wish there was a second location closer to our home haha but that’s ok! We’ll gladly make the trip to come here.
I was referred by two of my coworkers as I’ve been looking for a good dentist for a while. As soon as I walked in, I felt at ease. The receptionist, Pati, was kind and helpful with intake. The dental assistant was also friendly and helpful (although I forgot her name) and Dr Solomon was amazing. She was gentle, and fully explained everything that was going on in great detail. I’m so pleased with the service and my cleaning.
I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas for over a year, and every visit has been consistently pleasant. He is exceptionally knowledgeable, trustworthy, and transparent. After spending years visiting other dentists in the area prior to coming here, I can confidently say he has never been pushy, misleading, or overpriced. Dr.Young has been my dentist for myself and my family for over 25 years. He has always done an excellent job of caring for our teeth, which is important to me especially because I have such a steadfast sweet tooth. Although replacing a filling might feel stressful, Dr. Young makes it an easy experience. My first time at Laurel Smile Dentistry. My previous dentist cancelled me three times, and as 2025 ended on 31 December, Laurel Smile Dentistry took me in the same day. They were courteous and kind. I was able to get my teeth cleaned, rescheduled for a crown replacement, and referred to another service to treat an infection growing in the root of the tooth. They use state-of-the-art technology in this industry, and I am grateful to them for keeping my teeth and hygiene secure.

In 2019 at he age of 76, I drove from Los Angeles for my first appointment with Dr. Ruch. After 20 min of painless treatment, I could stand up straight and taller. I was so impressed with his highly, effective techniques that I've made the trip back two or three times a year! At age 84 I'm functioning physically better than ever. My family and friends are amazed at the things I do and I want to continue doing them. If I lived closer I would have an appointment every month! The BEST thing I could've done after a car accident. I went to another chiropractor at first, a nice humble family practice, but the pain persisted. My lawyer found Symmetry the first day I cried; not over pain, but the care AND INFORMATION. Dr. B took images X- and rays and explained the WHY to what I was feeling. I can't describe the clarity knowing answers the causation and how the plan could rectify the problem. Then Dr. Lee who I proposed to several times over a period of months, because his adjustment is from God, (our weddings in June, wear blush) 😋 The Oakland office is Bart and bus accessible, and the Alameda office has ample parking. I read that chiropractic medicine isn't really real? So I don't go to chiropractors for my back anymore. BUT I love massages, they help me so much. East Bay Chiro has a bunch of great massage therapists on staff. We've tried more than one and we always come out feeling better. The massage therapists all have different styles and approaches, so it's useful to try out more than one of them. They have different locations also, one in Piedmont and one in Montclair. They always ask if you have any particular aches and pains or issues, which is very helpful. You can pay by Venmo or credit card depending on who you get.
Just realized that Ive been going here for over 20 years. Dr. Verma is super knowledgeable, is amazing at managing expectations and has awesome bedside manner. Every visit Im getting targeted care which and Ive always left feeling improved either immediately or in the following days. Dr. Verma also always gives exercises to do at home and educates on good positioning. I pay out of pocket and the pricing is not insane in my opinion. I highly recommend Oakbay to anyone looking for relief.
I have been working with Mirnellys for nearly six months now, and it has done wonders for my body and general health. I feel much more upright, aligned, fitter, and no longer feeling many pain spots that were previously caused by compensating with other areas. Saw Dr. Ban for my Neck and Back but she improved so much more! Dr. Ban is an incredibly knowledgeable and attentive healer! She gets to know you and the issues that you may have whether you realize them or not. Honestly, I didn't even realize how good my neck could feel until after she worked her magic! Also was fit for a pillow by Dr. Ban, my wife loved it so much she stole it an now need to get another one with Dr. Ban! Highly Recommend her care!
Addendum: Shock Wave Therapy - second issue (read below for 1st issue, Stiff Neck)
I went to Diamond Chiropractic and worked with Dr. Lauren Emge for shockwave therapy on an elbow injury that was not getting better after months of taking it easy and recommended PT. I shared this with Dr Lauren who suggested trying shockwave therapy. My orthopedist also recommended trying shockwave therapy before considering any kind of invasive procedure.
I completed a total of 12 sessions over several months. While each treatment was somewhat uncomfortable—and there was some lingering soreness afterward—I noticed steady, progressive improvement over time. The discomfort was manageable and, in my experience, well worth the results.
By the end of the treatment plan, my elbow had significantly improved, and I was able to avoid the invasive procedure that had initially been on the table. That alone made the process incredibly worthwhile.
For anyone considering shockwave therapy: it does work, but it requires patience and consistency. Stick with the full course of treatment and give your body time to respond. I’m very grateful to Dr. Emge for guiding me through the process and helping me recover without surgery.
Neck Stiff and Unable to Turn My Head - First issue
I came to Dimond Chiro and Dr. Lauren at wits end with neck pain and stiffness resulting from a motorcycle accident. It took time but Dr Laurens expertise and passion meant she made the adjustments gradually so my body could adapt. It’s been a year now without pain or stiffness. My advice to anyone with chronic pain, be patient, don’t expect immediate results and stick with it!
Dr Plotke is fantastic. I moved to her about six years ago and found an engaging knowledgeable doctor who meets all my dermatology needs. She is comprehensive, on time and thorough. The office is super easy to communicate with via text but not so much by phone. New offices are clean and parking is good
Have had an exceptional experience here with the dermatologists. Also the staff, Jessica, Kim, and Lindsey. They're friendly and they really know what they're doing. My doc is Dr. Littman. The staff at Thornhill pet hospital is the best!! Theres something really special about this place. Dr.Yang and Alicia, take great pride in the work that they do. They keep me informed of the care they give to my dogs, and i totally trust their judgement and decisions. They strangely have a special connection with the animals, which makes their care that much better. Ive taken all my dogs to Thornhill pet hospital and wouldnt even consider any other veterinarian.
The BEST This is the best vet all around office clinic I have ever known in my life and at the age of almost 60 and having had many animals and known many vets. We recently moved from the East Bay to Marin however I will still take my animals to this vet office. Best most knowledgeable team of veterinarians best front office. Friendly and committed to good service best policies.. This is a general vet office that offers holistic options This team could also recommend some good specialist and I have other reviews for internist cardiologist etc.
We had Dr. Sawyer as our oncologist for our senior dog. She was able to walk us through our different treatment options effectively, and was always available for questions throughout the treatment period. We never felt pressure or guilt to choose one treatment over another. Even though our pup passed after 3 months of treatment, we’re thankful that she got the best treatment she could have to manager her discomfort and pain. We will always be grateful for Dr. Sawyer’s empathy and guidance.
This place is so so wonderful. Compassionate, personal, professional. They coordinate a lot over text messages, which I love, and respond quickly. They've been really flexible, and I really like the doctors I've had through them! Can't recommend enough.

In 2024, Dr. Atid and her team truly saved my cat’s life. An emergency vet misdiagnosed him with a broken jaw and I was facing a heartbreaking decision. I didn’t want to give up, so I went in for a third opinion from Dr. Atid. Her team took the time to look deeper and they discovered it was actually a tooth issue—a simple extraction was all he needed.
Their care, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond made all the difference. I am forever grateful. I wholeheartedly trust them and recommend them to anyone looking for caring and knowledgeable veterinary professionals.
My dog is almost 17 and in excellent health. I credit Grand Lake vet… great vets, observant, intelligent, kind and clearly care deeply about their patients. The staff is kind and thoughtful and very accommodating to my furbaby (well, furteen) who’s behavioral issues and fear of the vet can sometimes be challenging. I've been taking my dog to Claremont Vet since I adopted him five years ago. He is a pup with a lot of medical issues and health challenges, and has been to Claremont Vet at least a dozen times (maybe even close to two dozen) for both urgent care and regular visits. We've most often seen Dr. MacDonald (who we love) but have seen all the providers at one point or another. The staff are so compassionate, professional, and helpful. The doctors are exceptional with their knowledge, care towards my pup, and their patience with my questions. I always feel like my pup (and myself!) are in excellent hands with the team. And I love that I'm supporting a woman owned small businesses. I've had to take my pup in to ER vets elsewhere a few times and (understanding there's a vet shortage and everyone in the field is worked to the bone), I have always walked away feeling so grateful that Claremont Vet is my primary provider and offers such great care. I could not recommend Claremont Vet more and I will certainly bring future pets here.

I have never trusted or felt comfortable with a vet more than I do here at Plaza Vet. He is always straight forward, there is no guilt or up selling crap my animals don't need.
Dr. Dorsey and Dr. Hart are the nicest, kindest, most professional veterinarians. They have nursed and helped me through four cats. I love their office staff. They try to get appointments for any of my fur babies, and when one of them passed away, the office gave a donation to a cat illness research. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate all their service and care for my pets. They are so reassuring and when the time comes for… Again, they are empathetic and sympathetic.
My dog is very fearful of nail trimming. It was amazing to see how they really care about the animals. My dog did great.
Dr. Wright was great and everyone else we interacted with was very nice. This was our first visit with our newly adopted dog who is very fearful after coming from a hoarding situation. Dr. Wright answered all of our questions. Everyone handled him patiently and with good care. I found the pricing/estimate process to be comparable to an independent practice where I currently take my cat. They presented top tier care options and gave me time to ask questions and prioritize.

I started taking yoga classes here 7 years ago, and it has literally changed my life. At that point, my health was very problematic. I couldn't balance with my eyes closed. I couldn't bend all the way over. But after what I've learned at Mountain Yoga, in my mid-70s I have gained flexibility and good balance, and I feel as good as I have in many years. All the teachers I've had have been great, and quite different from each other so there are a variety of approaches. The studio is very good about encouraging each student to find their own best way of practicing, and there are many resources available to make that happen -- different kinds of classes in person, online, and recorded, as well as workshops and retreats. I am an older woman who had no experience at all with yoga before I came here, and I feel like I've found my yoga community.
I've been having some health issues for about 6 months. Kaiser couldn't have cared less to help me heal. I turned to Dr. Feng, and he was able to diagnose the issue on my first appointment. I started seeing results immediately. Went back for a second appointment. I thought they'd want to see me again but they told me I'd be fine and I could come back if I wanted to. Two sessions with Dr Feng and all my issues have completely disappeared. I am so grateful to him.

The yoga instructor took 5 minutes of the class talking about politics, going far beyond the typical 'peace and justice for all' messages in yoga practices and kept reminding in the middle of the practice that injustice hurts which made it very stressful. For one thing, it's not inclusive to assume everyone agrees with their views. Secondly, this was my space to meditate and her tone and words really left me stressed out.
Susan Urqhart-Brown is a fine human being and teacher. She has all the great yoga teacher components in place: compassion, knowledge, spirituality, kindness, devotion, and patience. I highly recommend Susan’s Anjori Yoga classes!

Just love it! Finally an exercise session that I actually enjoy! My back stopped hurting, legs and arms got stronger, stomach looks flatter. I am in my early 50s, and find these session very beneficial. The staff is super knowledgeable, everyone is vetted by the owner and Pilates guru - Holly. The class size is small - five spots. I would definitely recommend.
i LOVE taking pilates from Anya. She tailors each session to my pain points (hips, back, and feet), makes micro-adjustments to maximize each movement, and balances strengthening with stretching. My body feels so much better after each session! She also incorporates massage (if you'd like) and offers meditative/wellness advice (if you ask) - based on your interest. This is my favorite pilates studio in the East Bay. Bonnie (the owner), Sarah (my instructor), and all the instructors customize classes based on client needs. I am a lot stronger, more flexible, and my migraine headaches gave improved since working with Sarah. I really appreciate her attention to detail, challenging me to try harder techniques and perfecting what I know, and for all the encouragement she gives me in my daily life.
Rachel was amazing. Came here after my neck and shoulders started hurting and left feeling like a new person. Really relaxing and the pressure was spot on. I awakened relaxed and refreshed throughout the massage. Thanks Rachel!
We recently hosted Akasha at our home for a couples massage workshop with three other couples, and it was such a wonderful experience. Akasha was fantastic at providing demos and hands-on instruction, making sure everyone felt comfortable with the techniques. We all walked away with practical skills we can actually use and, more importantly, a deeper sense of connection with our partners. She is the exact right blend of a technical expert and a warm and caring human. It was a truly special evening, and I can’t recommend her enough for a unique group gathering.
I had a cold stone headache treatment with Tina, and she actually made my migraine diminish greatly! It was a wonderful relief. Also Tina has a lovely, caring bedside manner.
I recently had a two-hour session with Leyla. I left feeling so much relief and groundedness.
Throughout our session, Leyla shared more insight into why different body parts felt a specific way (tenderness, pain, relief.) Leyla gave me a deeper awareness of my own body/pain/muscle/joint sensations that I hadn't previously been able to describe.
Leyla created a space of relationality, rather than just transaction by checking in with me regularly and making small modifications based on my feedback. I felt heard, seen, and listened to.

i’ve struggled with lower back pain since i was 18. that’s 20+ years. but i want to be able to do basketball, tennis, boxing as long as possible. Ever since i’ve started going to Tanya periodically it is exactly the tune up i need to support my sports activities. She is able to find the areas that are not properly firing and get my mind body connection right. i have even had an emergency session when my back spasms had me immobilized and she had me back on my feet in 80 minutes.

I had a wonderful experience with Kevin. He is a skilled and empathic massage therapist, and gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. He also has special attachments for pregnancy that fully accommodated a lying down massage, which really contributed to a great experience. I highly recommend Kevin's practice and look forward to going back!
Robert is an amazing massage therapist. He listens and adjusts each session as needed. He is thoughtful and highly skilled. He is never rushed and worked through my issues so I felt better after each session. The studio is very clean and makes you feel relaxed.
Another bonus point, I like higher pressure to get into my muscles and he is one of the very few therapists I worked with who is able to sustain that pressure and get deep into those tense muscles. Many other therapists could be too light even after repeated asks to increase the pressure, but he just knows where to go light and where to keep the pressure. Absolutely a keeper and a strong recommendation for massage therapy!
WOW - I have to say… pretty speechless here. If I could give Marwan 10 stars, I would. He’s definitely the most investigative therapist I’ve ever had. He took a decent amount of time to understand where I needed the most attention and what was bothering me. His communication is great and he makes me feel extremely comfortable telling him my needs. His massage was by far the best I’ve ever had. I didn’t want it to end. I’m so glad I made the choice to book with him.
I’ve been getting massages with Marcelina regularly for half a year and I can’t recommend her enough! Marcelina really emphasizes approaching pain holistically and is so knowledgeable about what she does. I love hearing about the different strategies and philosophies she’s learned — you can tell that she is always working to improve her skills and really cares about her craft. I’ve seen noticeable improvements in the tension throughout my body/muscles after every session. :)
I love it here! I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The owner and staff are friendly and accommodating and I find the prices very reasonable. I love all the different recovery equipment they have. Definitely would recommend! As a runner it’s really nice to have this all to relax and recover in between training.
Fanny’s facials are the best! I’ve been getting regular facials for several months and my skin is so healthy and glowy.

Kimberly truly provides a one-of-kind service. Many masseuses can provide a pleasurable experience, but very few are true healers. If you want a massage that makes you feel good, go anywhere. But if you’re experiencing pain or tightness and are looking for a long-term fix, go to Kimberly for at least a couple sessions. After your initial session, ask her about cupping and her signature massage. Truly life-changing treatments.
Emily is super helpful with my finger symptoms. She was able to help me diagnose the exact cause of the issue and set up a rehab plan. I visited her 3 times in total, and each time she was able to provide specific changes to the rehab plan based on my recovery progress. Overall, I would highly recommend her if you are a climber and looking to rehab your seemingly mysterious injury.
I had bilateral mastectomy with DIEP and DCIA flap reconstruction, and finding the right post-op physical therapist made an enormous difference in my recovery. I want to be candid about my path here because I think it’ll help other patients in the same position.
My plastic surgeon recommended Level Up PT specifically, but they're private and out-of-network, so I initially tried to find someone in-network instead. I found a physical therapist who said they had experience with this surgery, but my recovery was treated like a standard sports injury rehab. The specifics of flap reconstruction — protecting the flaps, the staged nature of recovery, the abdominal core involvement from the flap harvest — weren’t part of the plan. I wasn’t progressing, and I was genuinely worried about hurting myself.
I switched to Dr. Hilary at Level Up and paid out of pocket. The difference was immediate. She understood every detail of this surgery and exactly what each stage of healing required. I finally felt like someone understood what my body had actually been through, and I was able to safely return to full function, including a physically demanding job. She also did extensive manual work on my scar tissue - something that in network providers don’t have time to do.
I know it’s hard to justify an out-of-pocket expense on top of everything else breast cancer already costs. But if you’ve had a double mastectomy, and especially if you’ve had flap reconstruction, this is the kind of specialized expertise that genuinely changes your outcome. I don’t think I’d be back to work without her. Worth every penny.

On the very strong recommendation of another PT who had moved out of the area, I went to see Steve Ryan for reverse total shoulder replacement post-op physical therapy. Steve is simply the best, most knowledgeable, competent, straightforward, compassionate, patient and organized physical therapist I have ever worked with. The written instructions and (excellent) videos for the prescribed PT exercises are available the day of or 1 day after your appointment. He is very organized and prompt so appointments are always on time. I am 79 years old and very active for my age. Steve guided me through a major glitch in my surgical recovery and I am now fully back to all my physical activities. I'm sure I couldn't have done this without his professional mentorship. Strongly and without hesitation thank and recommend Dr. Stephen Ryan for physical therapy.
I've been to the other locations in the Bay several times, but recently having moved to Oakland, I finally got to visit the Rockridge location.
The staff was incredibly nice and attentive and my room was ready as soon as I got there.
The facility was quiet and clean and my session was nothing short of refreshing. It's something that I always look forward to for a good reset.
They never rush you or hurry you up which I appreciate because sometimes it take me a little while longer before and after my floats to get in and out. The vanity area is in the middle of the facilities which is different from what I'm used to but I had to trouble finding it or getting what I needed.
I recommend and will be back!
Jameson V. listens to me and hears me then shares clearly and demonstrates what he wants me to do and he has a great sense of humor. My only complaint is having to respond to Golden State Orthos’s reminder messages with submitting so much info again and again.
I’ve been having regular acupuncture treatments with Amanda for several months. I see her for stress reduction and immune system support. She is extraordinarily skilled, the treatments are painless, and I always feel restored and much more in balance after seeing her. The setting and music are also enhance the treatments.

I have mild open angular glaucoma and dry eyes. I have been coming to see Eun for the past six months as an adjunct therapy.
The protocols that Eun is using for my dry eyes and glaucoma has been remarkable. I definitely relief. My eyes are less dry and I feel a qualitative difference with my eyes. It feels more energized with a new sense of vitality.

Srinika has helped me soooo much. I have a thyroid and auto immune disease and I was truly suffering and taking so many medications for years that were causing me all types of side effects. Dr Zhang Tong is an incredible acupuncturist. I’ve had acupuncture in the US for over 12 years and he’s easily the best. We’re working on fixing a 20 year knee injury that I’ve had surgery on. For new patients, please trust him and his process and don’t hesitate to provide verbal feedback during sessions as that is key for him to understand what’s hurting and how much pressure to put during the massage portion of the session.
