Working with Nobuko has been great! She has been able to pick up on a number of ailments in my body even when I didn't tell her. Nobuko is clearly very knowledgeable about the body and honest about any limits with the treatments. I've been feeling better after working with Nobuko for counterstrain after a short time. Apparently, there are very few providers (outside of DO doctors) that do this work. A plus is that she is also a trained OT, so she brings a really unique perspective to her work. Nobuko is a gem and I highly recommend giving her a try if you're experiencing pain!

I cannot express how amazing my experience with Moon has been: I've been going to her for visceral manipulation following a myomectomy surgery, in which over 2lbs of fibroids were removed from my uterus, and subsequent complications from the surgery that affected my intestines, stomach, and my whole digestive system. After my surgery everything in my abdomen and digestive tract felt off--sharp and "crunchy" is the best way I can describe it. Definitely not how you want your abdomen to feel. After several sessions with Moon over a few months my body feels softer and smoother, I have less discomfort after eating, and I my abdomen feels right again. I wasn't sure what to expect from visceral manipulation but I'm now a true believer. In addition to being a skilled and knowledgeable masseuse Moon is a truly lovely and caring person. She will take good care of you and your body.

I got a great haircut from Avery! I came to my appointment with a clear sense of what I wanted and a complete inability to effectively describe it, and Avery was able to make it happen. Their prices are super reasonable and we ended up having extra time so they gave me a wash and style at the end of my cut.The space itself is sort of whatever to me, but Avery did a great job giving me a look that worked with my hair texture and the aesthetic I was hoping for, and one that requires, as I want, very little to be done to it in the morning. Would definitely go back next time I am in need of a haircut in Oakland, and have convinced a few of my local friends to try them out!

I was able to book with Nora for a haircut about three days out, and online. The SMS (text message) reminders made it easy to show up on time. It definitely feels like hanging out in someone's cool loft apartment. Banter was friendly, positive, and slightly snarky. The second floor location is nicer than being in a window, it feels more exclusive. It's not just philosophically better to support a local business you love, as opposed to a micro-chain, it just feels so much better.

No frills nail salon, a bit more old school as they dont have the newest/trendiest products but they have regular nail polish + gel + dip + acrylic + gel X. Really enjoyed my gel manicure today and I think they did a solid job. The only man manicurist there was damn quick and shaped my nails to a perfect almond shape. I want that uncle for my next appt! Minus 1 star as I dont think they sterilize their equipment between usage and the UV light machine has no sensor so I had to keep reminding the lady to turn on the light so that my nails can cure.

Found my nail salon home and I can’t believe it’s been nearby where I live this whole time. I’ve gone to Lan I think 3-4 times now for my fills and she hasn’t disappointed me yet and usually I’d pay around $70 for designs at other salons but the prices have been so reasonable! I smile every time I look at my nails and it's the ONE self care item that I can do that stays solid until my next appointment with O. She is booked up MONTHS in advance so be AWARE of this and patient. You want the BEST nail tech, you have to book her in advance and she IS worth the wait. Be sure to tip her for what she is worth also because she really puts her heart and soul into her nail artistry and craft. Thank you O! Her studio is very clean and tucked away inside a series of shops in Montclair. Bathroom is always clean in the back also.
Pink does the best nails in Oakland. Hands down! She always tries to accommodate my schedule to get me in when needed. She has an incredible skill set and all the coolest colors and supplies- glow in the dark, matte, jewels and super unique designs. Pink is my go to girl and I am so lucky I found her!

Vanessa is really talented. She cleans your nails, cares about the health of your nails and works with precision. She has an incredible variety of colors and types of polish. This is coming from a person who gets just color and doesn't get to experience all of Vanessa's talents. She is one of those rare people that really takes pride in doing a good job.
My gel polish actually lasts 4+ weeks and I am constantly working with my hands in food, water, paint and clay. I change it out every 4 weeks only because my nails grow out quickly.

This was my first visit. Booked through Vagaro to see Ivan. Close parking was a little tricky, but their shop is bright, well lit, very clean, and snazzy. Ivan was quiet, but sweet, and very gentle with my ticklish feet, and I will absolutely book with him again. The scrub he used on my feet and legs smelled divine, and the gel polish is set by the UV machine. No waiting to dry!

After spending a lot of time and money trying out different estheticians to only end up with more acne, I finally found Kim! Unlike many other estheticians, Kim’s approach is very thorough, measured, calm, and grounded. Other estheticians I’ve seen focus so heavily on trying out different products without ever addressing the root cause of the acne. They immediately start with harsh actives and they don’t really take the time to deeply understand what is going on with your skin.
Kim’s approach is completely different. She starts with (by far!!!) the most thorough evaluation. She gets to understand everything about your lifestyle, diet, habits, etc. She even looks at and evaluates every ingredient of every product you use on your skin and hair, all the medication and supplements you take, etc. She asks super thoughtful questions and she really listens!! She is so kind and makes you feel immediately comfortable, which is so important because of how much anxiety skin issues can bring up.
After the evaluation, she starts you on a very simple routine. Then when you start treatments, she does the most thorough extractions ever and effective but gentle chemical peels (along with other treatments depending on what you need!). She consistently reassesses how your skin is doing and makes any adjustments necessary to your routine and/or makes suggestions for lifestyle/diet/etc changes.
At every appointment, she checks in - not just to see how your skin is doing, but also to see how you are doing! She goes above and beyond to take care of her clients as full human beings. She does such thoughtful things like making tea for every session and sharing resources she thinks will be helpful for skin and non-skin related things!

Came across the booth at the farmers market near the convention center. These folks know what they’re doing. I’m 45-I had given up. I figured out how to love myself and that was it! Or so I thought. I recently moved to the area and I don’t why but I googled acne extractions. These guys came up and let me tell you-it was the right move. I’m THREE weeks in and have seen more improvement than acutane, differen, tretinoin…you get it. Acne is such a tough journey-give these guys a try.
I booked with Kaily, her skin was glowing and I was like cool another girly pop with perfect skin is gonna tell me how to deal with acne. BUT she had run the gamut too! The ONLY flaw in this place is that everyone’s skin is like glass. They need to have pics of their before’s so you KNOW you’re in the company of a friend, an acne friend.

I’ve been seeing Des for a little over two years now and she is the ONLY person I trust with my Brazilian and face waxes. She’s truly the best- quick, gentle, and meticulous when it comes to tweezing every stray hair. The entrance to the building was a bit confusing but its a basically several spaces for many businesses. I called the number and was assisted right away. The up-sale was real because I ended up getting a tinted brow as well. Initially I was very pleased with the tint but it lasted maybe a day. Sooo maybe not get that if you want something to last longer. All in all I was very pleased with my experience here. Good customer service, clean space and located conveniently in the city. Shymell is amazing!! I briefly used to go here at their old location on Telegraph above the tattoo parlor and the attention to detail/comfort and customer service has not only stayed true since then, but has gotten even better! The entire place looks and smells like a spa. Symone is so kind and her smile is super contagious. I went to EWC across the st. to start the Brazilian process again because it was cheaper but immediately regretted it. I promise you, the prices here are so worth it considering my sensitive skin always leaves feeling calmed and renewed after my wax- something that is so rare at every other waxing place I've gone to EVER. I've never experienced any skin issue during after care or long after the wax since they only use the cleanest ingredients and their estheticians are really skilled. I booked an extended Brazilian about 4ish months ago and randomly got assigned Shymell and I'm so glad I did. She's super gentle and makes me feel so comfortable which is crucial for this type of wax. It feels like we've known each other for so long! She tracks how my skin/hair are doing and is now very knowledgable about my skin/hair profile after only a handful of sessions. Also love that they kept the art on the ceiling- so empowering! I don't usually write a long review or review at all but felt the need to share how awesome this place and Shymell are.

I’ve been a client of Amber’s since 2009 and now I consider her a good friend and my go to esthetician for all my beauty care needs. I’m in my 50’s and Hispanic so my skin is doing some crazy things. Amber gives me wonderful advice about my skin care and well, to be honest, life as well. This is not a revolving door chain but a one on one business and she gives you all her attention. Every time I see her for a session it feels more like 2 people hanging out and catching up instead of a service.

I assumed the lady has been a bother in the past. Still this is a reflection on the business.

Great shop! When I lost a ball on one of my piercings just before a flight I just went to the closest shop possible and thank god it was Rd tattoo! They helped me search for the right size and even when I was willing to just pay a stupid amount just to get what I needed, they gave me a great deal! A great shop and great people!
I got my first tattoo a week ago and could not be more pleased with the results. It was a father/college-aged-son matching tattoo outing, and Chummy was engaging and thoughtful with both ends of the age spectrum. He is a consummate professional, whose care and attention to hygiene, his clients, and his art are impressive. While I am not sure if I will be getting any more tattoos, if I do, I will be certain to return to Tattoo 13 and look for Chummy.

Dee was gentle, professional and conscientious. I had 3 previous piercings that I thought needed to be repierced (because other places have done just that, rammed a needle in anew) but Dee did stretching rather than piercing. She explained that this would cut my healing time down drastically. It also saved me money because she charged the stretching fee instead of a piercing fee. The jewelry selection was also gorgeous, and she created one piece for me to match the other two that wasn’t even in the display case! I highly recommend this clean, professional and highly gorgeous woman for all your piercing needs.

First time here. This shop is incredible! Beautiful inside and out. My artist was Randy. He's has 20+ yrs experience tattooing and it shows! He uses top of the tier numbing spray and I could barely feel it. The colors are so saturated and vibrant and his line work is crispy clean! He made me feel safe and at ease the entire time. He offered me snacks and bottled water. I will be back many many times. The shop is also BIPOC owned and run. And LGBTQIA+ inclusive.

I was first acquainted with Ehret Co. when reviewing estimates for our daughter’s condo - which needed sewer lateral work. Ehret came in with the lowest bid and did the job well and efficiently and I was impressed with the workers. Ehret is a family business located in East Oakland. I recommended them to several friends who needed home plumbing repairs; they have come out to me for estimates on a drainage issue - turned out they couldn’t do what was needed as the camera was too large for the drain and I was not charged for the time plus many suggestions. Recently they did two repairs on two different toilets, same problem both times! Ehret also came out to a friend’s house for an emergency plumbing problem. The plumber was pleasant, efficient and the job was priced fairly and appointments were available quickly. Highly recommend this business for any plumbing issue.
I had Water Leak Detective come out because part of my yard kept staying wet, and I suspected something was wrong with my sprinklers. The technician quickly found an irrigation leak that I never would’ve located on my own. They showed me exactly where the break was and explained what needed to be done to fix it. OMG! I don’t know what would of happened if Devin didn’t come to our rescue!My coworkers car keys got stolen in Oakland :-(! In one of my projects I felt horrible for him! We always take care of our employees!I soon as I heard this I reached out to a couple lock smith the first one responded really quick and never sent a technician!!! We wasted more than half of day waiting for them!At around noon I found two wheeled locksmith!! Devin didn’t answer my call but texted me right away! I was a bit sketchy at first due to my experience with the first locksmith that I reached to! I constantly kept texting Devin even tho he confirmed multiple times he was going to go help us, I couldn’t help feeling anxious. I even called him but Devin was so patience with me he understood my worry! For the 500th time (lol) he reassure me he was going to go to the site in 20mins and 20mins later my coworker confirmed Devin had arrived!!!Devin ended up replacing the ignition free of charge and took my guy to the store with him to Keep him safe (it was dark already) Devin grow up in that area and was concerned for my guy standing in the street on his own! My heart fills up with happiness thinking of everything Devin did to keep my guy safe!Devin worked until 8pm just to make sure my coworker got home safe!I can’t thank Devin enough for going the extra mile!! I have an area rug that my dog made a mess of. (I won't go into details - you get the idea.) I tried cleaning it myself but could not get rid of the smell or stain. They picked it up, cleaned it and returned it about a week later. It was SO CLEAN AND SOFT. It was $195 but totally worth it. I work full time and cannot get to a reputable carpet cleaner during work hours so the pickup and drop-off was really convenient.

Everything about this experience was great from start to finish. I had unsuccessfully shopped for carpet for over a year. I was struggling with color and pattern choices. I was referred to Dan, the owner, by a friend and he could not have been more helpful. I sent some pictures and explained what I wanted. When I went to the showroom I was shown a couple of options. Thank goodness as the showroom is quite extensive and would have been overwhelming to navigate on my own. Absolutely top notch. The Bay Area is filled with shoddy contractors who take ages to do mediocre or poor work. All Seasons is a bit pricier but is absolutely worth ever penny. They are professional, fast, efficient and do top quality work. My driveway looks incredible and the process (though a bit delayed due to the weather) was seamless and easy. They also did my foundation retaining wall several years back and also did outstanding work. If you want it done right, All seasons is the contractor to go with.
The first and most important point is that Juarez's work is immaculate and beautiful. The worksmanship is truly amazing. In addition, we are not remodeling experts and trusted Job with decisions. He came through with flying colors, suggesting beautiful but cost effective approaches. When we needed help, for example, moving out of the home at the appropriate time, he helped us with everything - packing our things, suggesting places to store them, and then conducting the move. When Job and his team were working in our home, it is as if a family member was doing the work. We absolutely love our remodeled home.

We hired Build Group to take our dirt yard and build corten metal pathways and to build a concrete slab. Fidel walked through with me and gave me a bid after crunching the numbers. I got two other bids from existing crews I have used and hired Build the next day. They got to work immediately, and they were the most professional team we have had working here. We were so impressed with their attention to detail and smart solutions and diligent labor every single day they were here. So happy so far with their work. When you embark on something as big and overwhelming as a home remodel, it’s incredibly reassuring to work with a contractor you can truly trust. With Anderson Moraes and his crew, that’s exactly what we had when we remodeled our Berkeley home.
Our project was significant: we added a bedroom and bathroom, reframed the entire roof, remodeled the kitchen, and re-sided the house. Our architect recommended that we get a bid from Anderson, and from our very first meeting, my wife and I could tell that he is a genuinely kind and honest person.
When we received bids, Anderson’s came in right in the middle. While we were reviewing them, he was always available by phone to answer specific questions and was open to thoughtful negotiation when appropriate. Ultimately, we felt confident that his team would deliver quality work and that Anderson is a trustworthy man who understands the responsibility that comes with the work he does.
Over the year-long process, it was a pleasure getting to know Anderson and his crew. The care they put into their craft is inspiring, and their skill set is impressive—they truly do everything: foundation work, roof framing, electrical, finish work, custom cabinets, and cedar shingle siding installation. A literal jack-of-all-trades team.
That said, not everything was rainbows and unicorns all the time. We had a few minor disagreements along the way—details around the foundation, pricing for window trim, electrical panel costs, and similar items. But throughout it all, Anderson remained calm, reasonable, and solution-oriented, and we were always able to find outcomes that worked for both sides.
In the end, I’m happy to say that this year-long remodel was remarkably low-stress, and much of that is due to Anderson and his crew being hardworking, skilled, and, most importantly, trustworthy.
We reached out to Eric for a quote and he was quick to respond and gave answers to all of my questions. In the end we choose to not use concrete for our driveway project, so we did not hire him and his team. I think they would have done a great job, we just went in a different direction.
Mano, Niko, and Nick are knowledgeable, very thorough, friendly, and conscientious. They redesigned and simplified our over-complicated system (originally designed and installed by others) for much more efficient operation, then later did maintenance service. I wish I had known about them when we first designed the house. Highly recommended!

This company is still on my top list for any work at our church facility located in downtown Oakland. They have done so much including remodeling out church kitchen which looks amazing. I have hired this company to do a lot of work at my property just after seeing what they did at the church. They work 7 days with no day off just to make sure to meet the completion time. I was introduced to Alex when he was remodeling a home for a friend of mine; that went well! Since then I have used him several times. He built a cantilevered deck for me, off the master bedroom at my home. I am a Realtor by trade, so I have also used him several times to help to prep my listings. He has done plumbing work and countertops for me - and is currently doing a large whole house remodel, which includes all the things; paint, floors, new kitchen and bathrooms, new windows, tile work, plumbing and electrical, new deck and landscaping etc. His bids are clear and detailed and he is super responsive. I never thought our outdoor spaces could look so beautiful. Ingrid and team overhauled all of our outdoor spaces after a remodel that killed much of our plants and dried out our soil. From the get-go, Ingrid was on top of everything and responsive to this major project. She was excellent at providing a vision, trouble shooting for unexpected problems and providing amazing results. I can’t say there weren’t unforeseen complications at times like with any other project but I found her reasonable and professional. A man with a vision! Hiring Keith Stover, (Nature's Design), to beautify the front area of my house was an amazing experience. He already works on my mom's garden, which is breathtakingly beautiful, and for my birthday she split the cost with me to have him work his magic at my house. I know very little about such things so I really trusted him and his vision, and I am so grateful. He was very attentive to my tastes and listen to my ideas. He often gave me options to choose which I liked best. Very quickly we were on the same page about all of the little things that would make me happy.
When the first estimate was a little higher than my budget, he pared it down and we focused on the most important areas - and he was still able to make it totally beautiful.
Keith was a pleasure. He has a quiet demeanor. He and his assistant were super respectful and it was clear right away that they really care about doing everything right. He stuck to the schedule, he worked super hard and it was immediately evident that he is someone who is very proud of his work, regardless of the size of the project.
I'm actually saving money so I can hire him again to add some of the things that were outside the scope of last year's project.
They installed an irrigation system and showed me how to program the timer, but honestly I haven't had to touch it. It just works. Everything grew. Everything still looks healthy and gorgeous. It's really the gift that keeps on giving. I'm really proud of my garden, and it really is the result of Keith's vision, Keith's design and Keith's implementation. He's SO GOOD! You should call him and get on his schedule because I imagine he's pretty busy making magic happen :-)

We love Dr. Denise and Uptown Pediatric Dentistry! My little one is always comfortable and actually looks forward to coming, big plus!. The staff is pleasant, the inside is cute/playful and overall we’ve never had an issue with anything. Professional, punctual, and you can tell there is a genuine love for what they do here. If I had to find one issue, I would wish there was a second location closer to our home haha but that’s ok! We’ll gladly make the trip to come here.
Great experience with Dr. Solomon and her team. She is professional, gentle, and caring. Dental visits usually make me anxious; however, Dr. Solomon and her team have made me feel at ease by frequently checking in with me and my comfort throughout the visit. They are very attentive. I also appreciate that she never pushes unnecessary treatments, which has been the norm at every other dentist I’ve been to.

I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Now we have Dr. Alex who joined the practice. What a wonderful addition. Both Dr. Vic and Dr. Alex are so personable and caring. All their work is professionally done with a gentle touch. The patient’s comfort is always their number one concern. All the office members are so friendly and helpful. Before the procedure, I was told that my insurance covers the entire cost of the procedure. However, after the procedure, I was told I need to pay the entire fee since my insurance doesn’t cover it.

Dr.Young has been my dentist for myself and my family for over 25 years. He has always done an excellent job of caring for our teeth, which is important to me especially because I have such a steadfast sweet tooth. I recently had a filling replaced from prior to Dr.Young being my dentist, from start to finish I had no pain or discomfort at all. Although replacing a filling might feel stressful, Dr. Young makes it an easy experience. I read that chiropractic medicine isn't really real? So I don't go to chiropractors for my back anymore. BUT I love massages, they help me so much. East Bay Chiro has a bunch of great massage therapists on staff. We've tried more than one and we always come out feeling better. The massage therapists all have different styles and approaches, so it's useful to try out more than one of them. They have different locations also, one in Piedmont and one in Montclair. They always ask if you have any particular aches and pains or issues, which is very helpful. You can pay by Venmo or credit card depending on who you get.
All are friendly and knowledgeable. They do everything in their power to accommodate your schedule. The practitioners are always emphatic and understanding...wanting only the very best outcome to get you back to your best physical self. I would highly recommend Active Health Center!

The staff at Thornhill pet hospital is the best!! Theres something really special about this place. Dr.Yang and Alicia, take great pride in the work that they do. They keep me informed of the care they give to my dogs, and i totally trust their judgement and decisions. We had Dr. Sawyer as our oncologist for our senior dog. She was able to walk us through our different treatment options effectively, and was always available for questions throughout the treatment period. We never felt pressure or guilt to choose one treatment over another. Even though our pup passed after 3 months of treatment, we’re thankful that she got the best treatment she could have to manager her discomfort and pain. We will always be grateful for Dr. Sawyer’s empathy and guidance.

I've been taking my dog to Claremont Vet since I adopted him five years ago. He is a pup with a lot of medical issues and health challenges, and has been to Claremont Vet at least a dozen times (maybe even close to two dozen) for both urgent care and regular visits. We've most often seen Dr. MacDonald (who we love) but have seen all the providers at one point or another. The staff are so compassionate, professional, and helpful. The doctors are exceptional with their knowledge, care towards my pup, and their patience with my questions. I always feel like my pup (and myself!) are in excellent hands with the team. And I love that I'm supporting a woman owned small businesses. I've had to take my pup in to ER vets elsewhere a few times and (understanding there's a vet shortage and everyone in the field is worked to the bone), I have always walked away feeling so grateful that Claremont Vet is my primary provider and offers such great care. I could not recommend Claremont Vet more and I will certainly bring future pets here.

Dr. Dorsey and Dr. Hart are the nicest, kindest, most professional veterinarians. They have nursed and helped me through four cats. I love their office staff. They try to get appointments for any of my fur babies, and when one of them passed away, the office gave a donation to a cat illness research. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate all their service and care for my pets. They are so reassuring and when the time comes for… Again, they are empathetic and sympathetic.

Dr. Wright was great and everyone else we interacted with was very nice. This was our first visit with our newly adopted dog who is very fearful after coming from a hoarding situation. Dr. Wright answered all of our questions. Everyone handled him patiently and with good care. I found the pricing/estimate process to be comparable to an independent practice where I currently take my cat. They presented top tier care options and gave me time to ask questions and prioritize.

Left Coast is an absolutely amazing yoga studio! Most classes are warmed to around 82; initially I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this but I love it. Instructors are warm and friendly, giving clear cues on how to get into the poses with the right alignment, and without hurting yourself. My favorite teachers at this location are Deb and Malka - Deb teaches slower Alignment Flow and Flow + Restore classes and Malka teaches Power Yoga, which is more of an energetic vinyasa flow. Also love some of the newer teachers, like Zach and Malika. Definitely check it out! They have a great new student special - first month of unlimited classes for $75.
I was attending a conference at the Oakland Convention Center and took Amelia's morning yoga class offered on floor 21 of the Marriott. It was a stunning view and Amelia was a great teacher. I really liked the way she spoke about which move was coming next and I felt very comfortable even as a beginner. Highly recommend hiring her if you have an event.
I have been with Mountain Yoga for a year and I love it! I did a wide sampling of studios from Walnut Creek to Oakland and landed on Mountain Yoga. Basically, it felt most worth my time and money. I learn so many different things from all the teachers that I do not mind driving from Moraga to Oakland 2 to 3 times per week.
I've been having some health issues for about 6 months. Kaiser couldn't have cared less to help me heal. I turned to Dr. Feng, and he was able to diagnose the issue on my first appointment. I started seeing results immediately. Went back for a second appointment. I thought they'd want to see me again but they told me I'd be fine and I could come back if I wanted to. Two sessions with Dr Feng and all my issues have completely disappeared. I am so grateful to him.

Used a class pass at this hot yoga studio with my daughter and enjoyed the class. Be warned that it is hot yoga so not for the feint of heart. The class was 90 minutes long so the extra time made it harder. I admit that during the last 1/2 hour, I was itching to leave. Thankfully that's when the resting poses come in. The heat does add to the workout and heats up your body. I need to get more acclimated to the temp! Lots of fun, I can see why folks enjoy it!
This place is a true treasure of wisdom. I have been doing moment for 30+ years yoga, tai chi, martial arts. Working as a professional and a teacher for 20 of those years. JinSung was showing me things that are fundamental to movement and alignment that I have never seen or heard of. In three class I have had breakthroughs that I didn’t know where possible on a physical and emotional level with relationship to my body and moment. I would also like to add my friend who has no yoga experience and does not work out loved the class as well. Please do your self a solid and take a beginner level 1-2 class with JinSung and come with an open mind and heart and see what happens.

Just love it! Finally an exercise session that I actually enjoy! My back stopped hurting, legs and arms got stronger, stomach looks flatter. I am in my early 50s, and find these session very beneficial. The staff is super knowledgeable, everyone is vetted by the owner and Pilates guru - Holly. The class size is small - five spots. I would definitely recommend.
i LOVE taking pilates from Anya. She tailors each session to my pain points (hips, back, and feet), makes micro-adjustments to maximize each movement, and balances strengthening with stretching. My body feels so much better after each session! She also incorporates massage (if you'd like) and offers meditative/wellness advice (if you ask) - based on your interest. Not to mention, she's lovely to talk to and easy to get along with. And her studio is peaceful with a variety of equipment. I feel very lucky I found her!
This is my favorite pilates studio in the East Bay. Bonnie (the owner), Sarah (my instructor), and all the instructors customize classes based on client needs. I am a lot stronger, more flexible, and my migraine headaches gave improved since working with Sarah. I really appreciate her attention to detail, challenging me to try harder techniques and perfecting what I know, and for all the encouragement she gives me in my daily life.
I really enjoyed my experience with Franny. She was very knowledgeable about the human body, and I loved that she could explain the anatomy of why this muscle was impacting this joint. Good communication to figure out the right pressure for me. Overall a wonderful experience.
I just had a massage with Jim, and I can confidently say it was the best massage I’ve ever had. From the moment the session began, Jim’s professionalism and attention to detail were clear. He took the time to thoroughly assess all of my problem areas, asking thoughtful questions and tailoring his approach to exactly what my body needed. Every movement felt purposeful and precise, showing just how gifted he is as a massage therapist. You can tell that his talent runs deep—he learned from his father, who was also a massage therapist, and that experience and passion clearly show in his work. Jim’s technique strikes the perfect balance between therapeutic and relaxing, leaving me feeling rejuvenated, looser, and completely refreshed. It’s rare to find someone who understands the body this well and genuinely cares about their client’s well-being. I’ll definitely be back for another session soon and highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for a truly exceptional massage experience.
I had a cold stone headache treatment with Tina, and she actually made my migraine diminish greatly! It was a wonderful relief. Also Tina has a lovely, caring bedside manner.
I recently had a two-hour session with Leyla. I left feeling so much relief and groundedness.
Throughout our session, Leyla shared more insight into why different body parts felt a specific way (tenderness, pain, relief.) Leyla gave me a deeper awareness of my own body/pain/muscle/joint sensations that I hadn't previously been able to describe.
Leyla created a space of relationality, rather than just transaction by checking in with me regularly and making small modifications based on my feedback. I felt heard, seen, and listened to.

Robert is an amazing massage therapist. He listens and adjusts each session as needed. He is thoughtful and highly skilled. He is never rushed and worked through my issues so I felt better after each session. The studio is very clean and makes you feel relaxed.
Another bonus point, I like higher pressure to get into my muscles and he is one of the very few therapists I worked with who is able to sustain that pressure and get deep into those tense muscles. Many other therapists could be too light even after repeated asks to increase the pressure, but he just knows where to go light and where to keep the pressure. Absolutely a keeper and a strong recommendation for massage therapy!

I’ve been getting massages with Marcelina regularly for half a year and I can’t recommend her enough! Marcelina really emphasizes approaching pain holistically and is so knowledgeable about what she does. I love hearing about the different strategies and philosophies she’s learned — you can tell that she is always working to improve her skills and really cares about her craft. I’ve seen noticeable improvements in the tension throughout my body/muscles after every session. :)

Renew is an oasis amongst in-network physical therapy clinics. Seldom outside of private practice are therapists able to spend your whole appointment with you. Quality of care and attention to detail are top notch.
Jess helped treat my a persistent running related tendinopathy successfully after two other practitioners at other clinics failed. Her sessions focus on form an educating you on proper biomechanics so that the exercises you do outside of clinic are done properly. You're not just guided through a workout. She includes a few minutes of massage, too.

On the very strong recommendation of another PT who had moved out of the area, I went to see Steve Ryan for reverse total shoulder replacement post-op physical therapy. Steve is simply the best, most knowledgeable, competent, straightforward, compassionate, patient and organized physical therapist I have ever worked with. The written instructions and (excellent) videos for the prescribed PT exercises are available the day of or 1 day after your appointment. He is very organized and prompt so appointments are always on time. I am 79 years old and very active for my age. Steve guided me through a major glitch in my surgical recovery and I am now fully back to all my physical activities. I'm sure I couldn't have done this without his professional mentorship. Strongly and without hesitation thank and recommend Dr. Stephen Ryan for physical therapy.

Srinika’s nutritional analyses and supplements have helped me with many health challenges the past few years. The most dramatic was a painful knee that had been difficult off and on for many years. Several months ago it had become quite painful whenever I went down steps (which I do daily). Srinika recommended avoiding certain foods, and also gave me supplements, which were from good sources. I really thought it was a long shot, but after two weeks I was most pleasantly surprised that the pain was gone! Her techniques allow her to look at a troubling situation; figure out probably causes; and then come up with methods to make things better. And they work! I’ll mention one other challenge… because of my aging eyes, I had difficulty driving at night and didn’t feel it was safe, so avoided night driving. Sometimes my daughter or a friend would pick me up, but mostly I stopped going to evening events and activities. After some deep dives with Srinika into possible causes, as well as taking nutritional supplements, I’m now able to do limited driving at night, for which I am grateful. And I think there’s a good chance that my eyesight will continue to improve!

Acupuncture has been recommended to me by various providers due to my sensitive GI tract. I’m not a fan of needles, so I’ve stayed away. Last month, I got to a point of desperation for anything to help settle my system and decided to reach out to East Bay Acupuncture based on their excellent reviews. I’m SO glad that I did! I did a phone consult with Aimee who explained everything to me and made me more open to trying it, and have worked mostly with Dr. Nadia but with Aimee as well. Both are gifted practitioners who listen to understand your concerns and needs. I’m happy to say that my system has settled, and this has opened the door to me using acupuncture to support other health concerns like my lymphedema and inflammation in my feet. Dr Zhang Tong is an incredible acupuncturist. I’ve had acupuncture in the US for over 12 years and he’s easily the best. We’re working on fixing a 20 year knee injury that I’ve had surgery on. For new patients, please trust him and his process and don’t hesitate to provide verbal feedback during sessions as that is key for him to understand what’s hurting and how much pressure to put during the massage portion of the session.
As an athlete and fitness/yoga professional for almost 30 years, acupuncture has always played a crucial role in my recovery, injury prevention, and treatment. I found Ross Acupuncture a little over a year ago, and it has been an absolute game-changer!! Jen is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped relieve countless nagging and acute issues. I have hypermobile ligaments/tendons, flat feet, and I put in between 10-20+ hours of training a week, so I put a TON of wear and tear (and stress!) on my body. I am also super prone to things like plantar fasciitis as a flat-footed runner and Jen has been a lifesaver on more than many occasions when things flare up. She has also been able to get to the root of some of the injuries I've had off and on for a long time. Full transparency: treatment may not be the most comfortable all the time. Sometimes you might not feel it, sometimes it may be rather intense -- especially if you're coming for injury/pain. But, if you're an athlete (or even just active) and want to return to training, it is beyond worth it when your issues are resolved within just a few treatments (or sometimes in one session!) She often does stim on the needles which is my absolute favorite part. I find that this method to yield the best results for me. Tbh, I can't say enough good things about this clinic or Jen! I recommend her to my students and friends when they have issues come up. Side note: I have also done the facial acupuncture with Renee and recommend that as well! That's definitely a much more relaxing experience . If you're looking for an acupuncturist who can really dive deep into whatever aches and pains brought you to inquire about acupuncture, you've found the right place!
Wanda at Kokoro Clinic has been a great source of healing support for me. I’m glad I integrated acupuncture treatment as part of my healing triage. I’ve been receiving network chiropractic entrainments for a few years and acupuncture has helped to promote its healing effects. I’ve experienced significant shifts, and as traumas release there is a period when integration time is critical. Acupuncture treatment with Wanda, who is familiar with network treatment, has been an essential part of integration. Sometimes it takes a few days to feel completely integrated and sometimes longer. Acupuncture has supported that process, often easing the flow of energy through my body and sometimes releasing stuck energy allowing release of trauma to take its full course.
