Had an incredible experience. Will probably never get a “normal” massage again now that I know lymphatic massage exists. Lise asked some questions before we started and tailored the experience to what my body needed.
I fell asleep many times throughout the session. Lise’s hands were made to do this work, absolute healing magic.
Afterwards, Lise gave recommendations for stretches and how to release the tension in my neck and upper back.

I’ve been going to him for many years, starting with vocal lessons and eventually moving to longer combination vocal/piano sessions. It's been really fulfilling putting the technique I've learned to work, especially at karaoke night. The lessons focus mostly on the foundational aspects of making music like breath, posture, phrasing, and technique, and that approach has helped me grow a lot as a musician.
Bruce is, understandably, strict with his time / scheduling / cancellation policy. That’s not unusual for teachers in the arts, and in my opinion it shouldn’t be held against him.

I trusted him with my haircut (wanted something super simple- nice haircut and blow dry) for my courthouse wedding and I am so impressed with his ability to make magic with my hair. The experience felt super special from start to finish. He listened to what I wanted and asked for allergies and made sure to know what I had in mind. I wanted something classic and elegant and it turned out better than I ever thought ! It held up beautifully for the wedding - got so many compliments. Absolutely stunning results and flawless service. Thank you for this one on one experience. First time there (big bet on him I know !) but I will definitely be coming back !!!!

I have never felt so much reassured by a body worker as I feel with Troy. Every time I come in, and he's working on my body to restore old patterns of tension building that have resulted in lack of energy, chronic pain in certain areas, and other problems. He is clear and focused and knows what to do. After the first session, I experienced such a remarkable difference in my energy levels. Usually after the end of the week, I have to collapse and replenish my energy, but now I could continue and enjoy my time off and away from work.
As a side note, I am not hearing any complaints about my snoring since he cleared up my sinuses, and that is a very small but very significant benefit for my relationship.
We have used Compass Rose Yacht Charters for our office summer party for the past 4 years, and it's always the highlight of our year! The crew is always extremely kind and fun! We typically have around 20-25 people on the boat, and there is plenty of space both inside and outside for us to move around. You can play your own music, there are a lot places to sit, and the views are amazing. Eliot is super helpful when I reached out for information, and he answers any questions I have in a timely manner!
Happy and Cheerful Kellianne does the very best haircut and styling on my frizzy and curly hair. The curls as she cuts become nice waves. The texture is smooth. Kellianne is a magician with hair. She is also a great conversationalist and makes the haircut experience fun and relaxing. I recommend 6 stars.
Maritza is the absolute best. Her color work is impeccable. She listens and provides excellent advice and is so knowledgeable and easy going. A lot of salons in the bay area have a distinct mean girl energy and there is none of that here. Just good vibes and good work. I live in Los Gatos and found Maritza through a lot of research and there is zero hesitation to travel all the way to Berkeley to see her. If you live around Berkeley and need color, or extensions, or good hair, just go.

I had a haircut with Ryan, and it was phenomenal. Firstly, Ryan is a gentle and sweet person, making it easier to enjoy the haircutting experience. I've been coming to this place since 1993. The owner is like a Bay Area Historian to me. He's seen the neighborhood change through more than six decades. Although I now live on the East Coast, I still make it a must to stop by and get a cut because Harold is one of the best barbers to ever hold a pair of clippers. We in the community have always seen him as a Bay Area legend! ?✂️
Best, barber in the East Bay. Difficult thing is no appointments so you may wait 30 minutes or a 4 hours. It's definitely worth the wait for the cut that you can get. Larry's amazing and certainly one of the best parts of the East Bay community. You could tell he loves his people and the East Bay.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Tito for years, starting back when he was at a barbershop in Richmond. When I heard he opened up his own place on Solano Ave., I knew I had to follow. The service here is exceptional—Tito and his team are always on time, ensuring I get in and out quickly, which is perfect for my busy schedule.
Even when Tito is out of town, I know I’m in good hands with any of the other barbers—Denyll, Mo, and Frank are all incredibly talented. The whole team truly cares about their craft, and it shows in the quality of their work.

I love The Nail Suite — it’s become my go-to nail salon. The space is always clean, peaceful, and welcoming, and the nail technicians are consistently wonderful. This past weekend, I got a gel manicure from Amy and she did an amazing job. She created a cat eye manicure with 3D line art, and the detail and precision were beautiful. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my nails already! Highly recommend both Amy and The Nail Suite. 10/10 experience.

I recently moved to the Bay area, and started going to Hair by Glynis after being recommended by a young woman whose haircut I really liked. She gave me Glynis’s card, I called and was given an appointment within the week for consultation. The shop is conveniently located, and the interior bright and comfortable. Glynis is lovely, welcoming, and very easy to talk to. She took the time to examine my hair type, ask me about prior haircuts (how often? what styles?), my likes and dislikes (bangs, close edging). My first cut was a short pixie cut which I absolutely loved! It was easy to manage and very flattering! Recently I decided to go shorter, and really love this one! I’ve had the opportunity to see her do other beautiful styles while in the shop. She is very talented and professional. I highly recommend Hair by Glynis to anyone looking to get beautiful styling, in comfortable surroundings, performed by a pleasant and accomplished stylist.

I contacted Janice about adding on to a tattoo by a previous artist. The design she came up with was great and exactly the vibe I asked for! I had never gotten a large tattoo before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but Janice was super accommodating and patient. Her work is great! So great that we are working on another large piece and I totally trust that it will come out amazing.

So glad I chose to work with Cameron at War Horse Tattoo. The shop is amazing and Cameron was awesome to work with - he's knowledgable and an incredible artist. When he was working on my tattoo, he was telling me how much fun it was for him. That sense of joy really shone through the entire process.
I recently had a tattoo done by Martin. Martin is talented beyond most tattoo artists in this country and I have met a lot. He has been tattooing for over 30 years and has an extremely valuable and in-depth knowledge of traditional Japanese tattoos. He's also very friendly when he is tattooing a client and loves to converse, and he teaches people a lot of great things as opposed to somebody who just sits there, tattooing you in silence. When I was tattooed, he made me feel at home. I told him what I wanted, and he showed me a selection of drawings that he had already done in regards to the subject. He then redrew the drawing adding in a few ideas I had. He is a kind individual who takes sanitary precautions to the limit I am going to continue working with Martin as I pursue my quest of having a Japanese bodysuit I could not recommend Martin more he's clean, sterile and a lot of fun.
I also met kitty during the process, and for those of you who are seeking another very talented artist, I could not recommend her more as well.

Bro!!!! Was in town on tour with a band randomly decided I wanted to get a tattoo. I started looking around in Berkeley for good tattoo shops. Stumbled across this gem. So I took my time read all the reviews on local places. So I decided to go with this one. Best choice ever! Walked in was greeted instantly by Miguel. Told him I didn’t have a appointment but was only in town for the night and would be stoked if I could get a tattoo from them. He told me he had a couple hours left with his client that he already had in the chair then he could get me in! From the moment I got In That chair till the moment I left every last drop of the experience was exactly what you would want in a tattoo experience! Miguel is so skillful and artistically inclined that it blew my mind. The shop was clean and tidy atmosphere was absolutely amazing. He did and executed exactly what I had asked for and went artistically above and beyond far exceeding my expectation! Anytime I come to Berkeley I’m getting a tattoo with Miguel! Lifesavers! Eric called me back right away, and I was able to get someone later that same day. Dino figured out the problem in 5 minutes, switched out the little piece necessary, and boom, hot water pressure was back on! Bonus: My tenant reports that Dino and he had a great conversation about punk rock and heavy metal. Haha! I am so glad I called them for a second opinion because a different plumbing company tried to charge me $6000 for a water heater replacement! Pelican Plumbing is reliable, reasonably priced (they don't charge unless they fix the problem), and HONEST!! Just give these guys a ring.

Another good experience with Albert Nahman. (Called them to track down the source of a leak in my upstairs shower) The leak diagnostic was expensive but ended up saving thousands since it revealed the pipes and valves were not leaking. Turns out my leak is likely related to grout damage from recent earthquakes.

Fantastic company -- brothers/owners Inder and Daan were excellent communicators, and both showed up on site regularly to make sure their crew was doing exactly what needed to be done. Daan even crawled under my living room himself after a city inspection and showed me how to cap off my crummy old knob and tube. Their crew was polite, and the foreman very patient with my questions about the work.
While the bid I got from FAE was a bit higher than the other bids, they were the only company to suggest moving the panel in such a way that I didn't have to install concrete bollards in my carport -- so ultimately they were the cheapest, since they saved me thousands of dollars (and saved my carport)!

The last year has been eventful and difficult to say the least. There was a fire in the unit above us earlier last year and, while the fire department caught it before the fire spread, all the water used to put out the fire poured down into our unit through the walls, ceiling light fixtures, vents, etc. After the water damage remediation, our unit was down to the studs.
This is our first home and we had been living here for over 10 years without making any drastic changes. We had no idea how to choose a contractor to basically rebuild the inside of our home. We worked with George on a major remodel of our house, essentially down to the studs. From excavation and laying new foundation all the way up to bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, new roof -- George was a consummate professional and excellent to work with.
We are millennials lacking quite basic knowledge in the affairs of construction, but George was not just patient but the quality of his work and attention to detail was amazing -- just the same as if he was working on his own home. He would spend his own time on some of the finest details, like ensuring the wiring was straight or suggesting where to place recessed lights.
Now that we’ve lived in the home for about a year, we can also say that the quality has stood the test of time -- we’ve encountered no significant issues since moving in. Overall, I cannot recommend George enough as a contractor, doing projects large or small.

After spending too much time, and too much money on rebuilding our backyard, there was clearly something missing. With very little time before hosting a work party, I asked Nathan to perform a miracle. And perform he did! I asked for more mature plantings and sod to make the yard look complete. Not only did Nathan do a masterful job of picking out plants for our space, but he had it all planted, mulched, and even had time to mow the sod before our big day. We liked our new space before, but after Nathan and crew got their hands on it, we love it! He put the frosting on our cake, or jewelry on our ball gown. I spend time outside every day now. Five years ago, the team at Planted Earth installed a drip irrigation system in our yard to replace an old spray irrigation system. The new system is more flexible, allowing us to adjust placement and flow level as plants mature. MB Complete Tree removed a very large redwood that had its burl and roots pushing up our foundation. Matt sent a great crew that did an amazing take down and removal. They also ground the huge stump. The crew worked hard and kept the area safe and did an excellent clean-up (including neighbors) after each day of work. I give them an unqualified 5 star recommendation.
A really wonderful dentist. I drive all the way to Berkeley from Sacramento to see them. I have a rare medical condition that has specific implications for dental health. They've been accommodating and proactive -- doing research where necessary to make sure that I'm getting the best care possible. I've also never had an attempt to upsell cosmetic work here; no discussion of whitening or veneers, both of which I had every dentist mention every single visit the whole time I lived in Los Angeles. Do I have to bill back to insurance? Yes. Have I ever had a problem with that? No. Ultimately, billing back to insurance (as others have mentioned in their reviews) is a very small tradeoff for me when compared with having a dental team that I trust.

They have been kind and understanding when my kid has been reluctant to participate in the appointment. They never forced him and after several visits he easily and happily goes to the dentist! Sometimes you come across remarkable people with with a heart of gold. Dr. Kami is one of those people. I had to fly very unexpectedly to Berkeley on a Sunday. The very next day, my tooth was really hurting, and I knew something was wrong. I called Dr. Kami’s office, deciding on him after reading reviews, and oh my gosh, the man is brilliant and kind. Not only did he fit me in (on the Office lunch- Thank you Annie) he took time to actually talk to me and get to know me. I found this to be UNBELIEVABLY kind because I don’t live here and it’s very clear from my address and insurance. But he took time and he asked me about who I was and then informed me that I would need a root canal, which pretty much terrified me. He reassured me that I would be in good hands and was able to get me in with Dr. Priya O’Callaghan at Endo Specialists. I am preparing to leave tomorrow, but I am going to include a visit to his office the next time I am here to discuss Aesthetic procedures. I’ve come to learn that my root canal is due to grinding, and my teeth are suffering because of it. I’ve heard he is an incredible Aesthetic Dentist so with my daughter going to school at Berkeley, I’m coming back here to see him.

I met Dr. A when I was 13 months pregnant with my second child and unable to walk or even sit due to what I later discovered was a ruptured disc in my lumbar region. While my HMO initially advised me to wait out the pain, offered opiate painkillers I was not comfortable taking, and recommended exercises I could not perform, Dr. A traveled to my home for my initial session and actually looked at my back and body. Her first adjustment enabled me to walk taller and longer than I had since my initial injury. When I had a setback and my progress stalled, Dr. A correctly identified that I had a ruptured disc and helped arm me with information needed to advocate for more invasive medical intervention that was also pregnancy safe. In addition to adjustments, she took time to connect me with a stabilizing belt, exercises, and ways of moving that helped me function enough to do things like watch my 4-year-old, take showers, prepare quick meals, and slowly but surely build strength and endurance. Through it all, Dr. A demonstrated again and again her incredible gift for trauma-informed body work. At a time when I didn't trust anyone to touch my body--myself included--I knew I was in good hands with Dr. A. She is gentle and confident, sincere and compassionate, and she possesses an innate ability to listen well and connect deeply. From our first meeting, I felt safe with Dr. A. This safety and trust helped me not only move again but also rebuild my own trust in my body and in myself. I returned to Dr. A after giving birth as I dealt with recovery for both c-section surgery and my ruptured disc. She laid the groundwork for physical and mental recovery, giving me the confidence to move forward--body and mind--in a healthier way for myself and my kids. Today, I am back to work, able to hike, hold my kids, and once again feel strong in my body. Thank you, Dr. A for helping me return to my life and body in a deeper, richer way.

Berkeley Dog and Cat is a wonderful veterinarian hospital. I have been coming here for over 20 years after taking my dog to numerous other vets to find out what was wrong. They figured out her health problem right away and she went on to live a long happy life. Now I take my cat there. The vets are top notch and the front office staff are kind and welcoming.
After more than four years between classes, I was so happy to return to Heather's class in person! I was pleasantly surprised to find that Adeline has moved to a new, even better location, just a few doors up. This class was exactly what I need, and I especially appreciate the helpful title: "Continuing Beginner," that's me all right! September will be 9 years I've been practicing yoga, but (almost ) half of that has been (almost) entirely on Zoom so getting in-person adjustments is a welcome change. Amazing teachers and great vibe - very much recommended. Great value vs other gyms as well. I wasn't familiar with Bikram Yoga prior although I practiced many other forms of Yoga. The heated space really up levels the experience and I can totally let go and really engage with my body in a healthy way. Teacher's provide a great balance in which you're "pushed" only so far you're getting the best out of yourself including honoring you're own limits. Overall very much recommended!
The shala is beautiful, and the space is inspiring. I dropped in while in town. Vance was so welcoming, and offered assists and gave great pointers. I HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone visiting the east bay, or frankly anyone within driving distance. Worth the trip. Hope to be back soon!
This studio combines meditation and workout. Studio provides lots of variety of classes. There are excellent teachers there. Although not all are excellent in my view, of course. Yoga mat, blanket, blocks, straps , and tea are available for free. There are many sessions like sound healing, specific trainings, etc... apart from membership. This studio is large and has an open feeling to it due to windows and sunroof. The studio is elegant.

Saraswathi Devi is most known for the one of a kind Yoga Therapy program that she founded at UC Berkeley which serves yoga practitioners with and without disabilities. She is also known for her full spectrum care of families through the practice of yoga through Pre/Post Natal, her popular Family/Baby classes as well as Yoga and Meditation for all walks of life. Although Saraswathi Devi has in-depth knowledge of yoga as a disciplined way of life, as an experienced teacher she is able to meet you where you are at with care and grace.

Afterwards, Lise gave recommendations for stretches and how to release the tension in my neck and upper back.

I LOVE this place. Genuinely the best deep tissue massage I’ve ever gotten, and that’s a huge compliment because I’ve had countless massages at many different spots. I had a super stressful week, and my shoulders were so knotted up and painful that I couldn’t sleep for the last few days. I asked Olive to give an extra strong massage. She did NOT come to play. I FELL ASLEEP during the massage when my shoulders were finally released. 100000/10 experience. Had to tip 25% after that. Definitely worth every single penny.

Devin of Deva Flora Healing Arts works magic! After breast cancer surgery and reconstruction, my breast and underarm scar tissue was really tightening up and I had no idea someone could help. Deena is a real healer. The combination of her impeccable knowledge of anatomy and how your body truly works with her experience and intentions to heal are truly wonderful and worth every moment and dollar spent.Often people work with a PT in emergency circumstances or recovering from an injury, but you may consider also working with her not in a time of crisis to improve your ergonomic relationship to whatever you do in your daily life and get tuned up! She’s wonderful and I can’t say enough good things, highly recommended.
I have had great results for my pelvic issues with PHRC, with Tiffany Ai Lan Vo and other PT’s there. The support staff is also very supportive, welcoming and competent in dealing with the insurance maze. Thank you Lisa Topete. I got excellent PT care, support and guidance there and highly recommend PHRC.
I went to PHRC after a mountain biking accident and healing of my fractured pelvic bone. The scar tissue buildup was restricting my range of motion and made bike riding painful. After much research, I found PHRC as the only PT clinics in the North Bay providing both strengthening training and manual therapy. I’m completely past my injuries and in a better physical condition than before my fall accident.
I've been working with a couple therapists for spinal nerve issues. The therapists are knowledgeable and very helpful, and willing to work with your schedule and preferences. They may try a variety of different techniques in order to help ease immediate pain and build up the needed strength to prevent it going forward.
Getting in touch over the phone can be hit or miss as the line is often busy, but they are usually good about calling back if you leave a message. Alternatively, you can go visit them and chat with the front desk in-person – the staff are a delight.

I'm getting treatment for pain and mobility issues, and along with Mindful meditation, the results are amazing! Dr. Winters is definitely an expert, and gives expert advice as well. It is a little expensive, but it may be possible to have your insurance cover some of the expenses.
That has got to be one of the most incredible massages I’ve ever gotten! I didn’t have to tell her anything, she found all the knots on her own and firmly and specifically worked through them. Knots that I haven’t been able to get out in years!

I've been seeing Juliana Kramer for acupunture and occasional massage thearpy for nerve pain in my hands, arms and feet for the past four months. At first I wasn't sure, but after a few visits I noticed a real improvement. My arm and foot pain have both gotten much better. I appreciate that acupunture helped without needing pills. Juliana is skiled, caring, and I would definitely reconmmend her to anyone dealing with nerve pain. I'll keep coming back for treatments.
This was my first Time seeing Sean here I originally came to him due to complaints of shoulder and neck, tension, and a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders poor posture I’m a student and currently working as a nurse so my back hurts a lot and I’m under a lot of stress. I was interested in dry needling and this is the place I found that does this and I was very intrigued when I first came in the place is very clean and neat and aesthetically pleasing to the eye and there was a cute little dog that greeted me super friendly and then we went to the room and I felt very comfortable. There were two chairs for us to sit in, and I felt like he was really listening to my problems that I was having and he explained everything so well and in depth, I felt very comfortable. I had no questions I was nervous about the needles, but it was tolerable, and he guided me through everything and there was never any pain then the session finished and he did about 10 minutes of massage therapy, which really helped seal the deal and he answered all my questions that I have and I am just so fascinated by all of this. I love Chinese medicines and sports medicine. I will never argue with thousands of years of medicine practice. I look forward to my healing and I definitely recommend Sean for future patients thank you!
Charles has taken care of me whenever I've needed acupuncture for many, many years. He's helped injuries heal. He's helped my nervous system regulate in periods of overwhelm. Just today I saw him because I had a bad fall yesterday and needed some overall support for healing. He's such a gentle man and an expert at what he does. Highly recommend. He has a sliding scale and is priced very reasonably, generously so.
I've received traditional acupuncture sessions for 50+ years from a variety of acupuncture providers in Bay Area, and at last and none too soon, I discovered this superb and experienced acupuncturist! Her office is comfortable, clean and professional, scheduling with a receptionist in the office. Nancy herself is older and wiser than other acupuncturists-she just knows where to put needles after understanding what you need/want in a brief q and a health conversation. She "gets it" and gets to work! My primary reason for this review of Nancy's practice is Nancy-non-judgmental, very caring and experienced, she listens, providing the best possible outcome of presented issues. Also, she doesn't try to sell you herbs, teas, treatments that so many less experienced try to include. Just the basics with compassion, simply and powerfully, reasonably priced.
Dale has played a big part in healing two sports-related injuries. He's extremely knowledgeable and equally friendly, and I'd recommend him to anyone recovering from pain/injuries.

I came to Abigail because I was so run down and my immune system was reacting all fall and winter long, every year. I had blood sugar and adrenal issues. I was exhausted.
I'm amazed to say I now don't get sick any more often than the average person. I generally sleep well and most of my blood sugar issues are gone. I no longer take adrenal supplements. And my energy is back.
Abigail also greatly reduced my (very) long Covid symptoms through acupuncture and nutritional changes.
She also helps me in the more traditional ways with pain relief when I have an injury or my chronic new problems are hurting me.
I would not have thought it possible that a practitioner of any kind could help me with my mystery problems. But Abigail is very very special. I can't recommend her highly enough.
I appreciate the availability that the clinic has for last-minute and regular appointments. The sliding scale is very accessible. The space is warm and peaceful and spacious, even just knowing that it exists is a balm.
