Then Sorin sent an estimate which was thorough and very fair in its price and scope. I talked with Sorin about possible modifications and he took the time needed to talk through my concerns. “The last year has been eventful and difficult to say the least. There was a fire in the unit above us earlier last year and, while the fire department caught it before the fire spread, all the water used to put out the fire poured down into our unit through the walls, ceiling light fixtures, vents, etc. After the water damage remediation, our unit was down to the studs.

This is our first home and we had been living here for over 10 years without making any drastic changes. We had no idea how to choose a contractor to basically rebuild the inside of our home. Luckily my friend recommended BuildMark, Inc. I gave Emanuel at BuildMark, Inc. a call and I could immediately tell he was going to be great to work with; Calm, to the point, honest, communicative, and not trying to sell me anything.

He walked us through the process and shared his knowledge to help us make difficult decisions and even took the decision reins fully when we asked.

“Nick just came to inspect my roof on my one-family house in El Cerrito. He took me on to the roof and walked me through my roof problems patiently and at length. Because of him, I know about how many years left I have, what work I can do to extend the life, and how much replacement will cost. He also gave me a reference for a solar panel company to do roof-related work since Sunpower (our installer) is out of business. In short, he was incredibly experienced, thorough, and honest! I probably don't need to replace my entire roof now, but when I do, I'll likely look to Nick to do it.“

“We worked with George on a major remodel of our house, essentially down to the studs. From excavation and laying new foundation all the way up to bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, new roof -- George was a consummate professional and excellent to work with.

We are millennials lacking quite basic knowledge in the affairs of construction, but George was not just patient but the quality of his work and attention to detail was amazing -- just the same as if he was working on his own home. He would spend his own time on some of the finest details, like ensuring the wiring was straight or suggesting where to place recessed lights.
