About Ashby Nails
Ashby Nails is a nail salon that provides a wide range of services, including manicures, pedicures, and acrylic sets. The salon is known for its affordable pricing, with a full set of acrylics costing around $65, and a manicure costing around $45. Customers have praised the skilled and gentle nail technicians, who take the time to ensure their clients' nails are shaped and filed to perfection. Many customers have noted that the technicians are particularly adept at working with thin or sensitive nails, and are careful to avoid any unnecessary damage. The salon offers a variety of polish options, including the popular magnet-based polish that creates a color-shifting effect. Customers have raved about the unique and eye-catching designs they've been able to achieve with this polish. While the salon is on the smaller side and can get a bit cramped at times, the overall atmosphere is described as easy-going and welcoming. The salon is now under new management, but customers have noted that the same family-like treatment they received from the previous owner continues. Appointments are recommended, as the salon seems to be quite busy, but customers appreciate the efficiency of the appointment-based system, as it helps to minimize wait times. Overall, Ashby Nails is a popular destination for those looking for high-quality nail services at an affordable price.
I have been going to this salon for over 8-9 years, they are simply amazing 👏! Caroline always has the greatest designs and can match anything. Le is the best for ingrown toe nails! (Calling myself out.) I've gone counties over just to come to them. Love love love them and their hospitality!
the most reasonable prices for gel mani and pedicure in the neighborhood. they consistently do a great job from the last 2 years of going! the owner is a really hard worker and runs a small shop.. she is always good with quoting estimates wait times (i get really annoyed by this lol.. and she's always gives me real-time updates and options to book times so im never having to wait). you need to make sure you call in advance to book an apointment ideally and call before you go to see the wait time situation so you don't spend your time in the chair.
tldr - they are very transparent, go a great job, and have the best price in berkeley hands down for gel mani/pedi.
Called the shop asking if they would take any walk ins for the day and my three friends and I went to get our nails done. One of my friends got a manicure for around $45. Me and my other friend got a full acrylic set for around $65. I loved the experience & set I got from here. I chose the polish that does a reflective color switch from the magnet once I saw that they had that type of polish available at the shop. Im not sure what my nail techs name was, I believe Caroline? but on her nail drill it's labeled as Dao. Not sure if she goes by only one name or the other. But she did a wonderful job at filing my nails and shaping them. I read some of the reviews before calling to check if they were available for walk-ins and some people stated that their nails were filed down too much or the acrylic broke off to early and or when it broke off it would take the natural nail under the acrylic with it. however my nails were already very thin from previously doing my own nails using gel x extensions and parts of my fingers were super sensitive and peeling due to the seasonal eczema breakouts I get on my hands. I told my nail technician beforehand before she started to prep my nail bed for the acrylic extensions that my nails were already thin from previous nails. She was super kind the entire interaction & gentle with my hands in this state (even without mentioning that my hands were also sensitive and fragile due to the eczema). I hope they last around 2-3 weeks at least! I got them a day ago so it's an early review but I've been to a lot of nail salons in the bay area & this one was by far a good experience, affordable pricing, and pretty nails. I LOVE MY DESIGN. I love the color choice. I especially love love love the shape of my nails as well. They are super sharp almond nails & my nail technician was efficient, gentle, and smooth while shaping my nails. She would press down on parts of my finger that might get caught or injured during the filing process so that she was only filing the nail itself. I didn't do a super crazy design like me and my friends usually would get but I love these nails more than the ones I've gotten from other shops who do more high end intricate designs. The pricing is great & I genuinely look forward to my next nail day. It's hard to find a shop that does nails for an affordable price (esp in this economy). My friends also liked their nails as well but the one who got the manicure realized she probably should've gotten an acrylic set since it was only a difference in around $20. My other friend who also got green nails from the same magnet shifting polish brand but in a different green color asked for square nails & later realized that a coffin shape would look nicer but these were all things said & reflected on after the experience at the shop. and we all thought this shop was a good one to return to especially now since we know the location, certain designs they're capable of, polish selection, and shop environment was very easy going & kind.
