Also when I had my hair styled for a wedding, the stylist and makeup artist complimented me on my bob! They said a good bob esp with Asian hair is hard and they said I have a good hairdresser, which I do hehe.
Bruce is my musical rock. I love having our lessons as a way to keep myself engaged and consistently making music despite my hectic work schedule. I’ve been going to him for many years, starting with vocal lessons and eventually moving to longer combination vocal/piano sessions. It's been really fulfilling putting the technique I've learned to work, especially at karaoke night. The lessons focus mostly on the foundational aspects of making music like breath, posture, phrasing, and technique, and that approach has helped me grow a lot as a musician.
Bruce is, understandably, strict with his time / scheduling / cancellation policy. That’s not unusual for teachers in the arts, and in my opinion it shouldn’t be held against him.
I am so glad I found Luis. After years of searching for someone to give me a refined haircut, I finally found what I have been looking for with Luis. He is a master with all types of hair (mine is short at the moment). I've been going to him for 6 months, and I won't go anywhere else. He is patient, friendly, and pays attention to detail in a way I haven't seen before. Way better than any salon haircut where I used to pay over double to price he is charging. I have never felt so much reassured by a body worker as I feel with Troy. Every time I come in, and he's working on my body to restore old patterns of tension building that have resulted in lack of energy, chronic pain in certain areas, and other problems. He is clear and focused and knows what to do. After the first session, I experienced such a remarkable difference in my energy levels. Usually after the end of the week, I have to collapse and replenish my energy, but now I could continue and enjoy my time off and away from work.
As a side note, I am not hearing any complaints about my snoring since he cleared up my sinuses, and that is a very small but very significant benefit for my relationship.
We have used Compass Rose Yacht Charters for our office summer party for the past 4 years, and it's always the highlight of our year! The crew is always extremely kind and fun! We typically have around 20-25 people on the boat, and there is plenty of space both inside and outside for us to move around. You can play your own music, there are a lot places to sit, and the views are amazing. Eliot is super helpful when I reached out for information, and he answers any questions I have in a timely manner!

Alex is so talented and meticulous with her coloring! I went to her for the first time and she put so much work and care into giving me a beautiful lived-in blonde, including adjusting the tone a few days later when I wanted a slight change. There is so much dimension to the color and I’m really impressed and pleased with the result!

I have had the best experience with Lexi! My extensions are placed with love and attention, with no pulling or tugging, as I have experienced. My highlights are perfect. I always leave happy. Lexi knows precisely what I like. All I have to say is, "Do whatever you think will look best." In addition, the salon is beautifully decorated, sunny, and modern. I always look forward to my visits.
I've been long overdue for a haircut and after having 2 babies back to back it was definitely time! Lynn was my stylist and did such an amazing job. She took her time and gave me exactly what I asked for. The blowout was my favorite and I got so many compliments! This mama felt pampered and like I got my pink back! The salon is so cute and modern and everyone was so nice and welcoming. Thank you again, Lynn! I can't wait for my next visit

I live on the Peninsula but it's worth the travel to come see her. Not only is Nishan's haircuts the best, she listens to what you want, recommends what's good for your face/frame and the best part is her cuts grows out amazingly. I don't usually write reviews, but this one is long overdue. Redd is exceptional, both for her skills and for who she is as a person! She has been cutting, coloring and styling my hair for years, and now cuts my daughter and son's hair as well. After a visit to her salon, I often get asked who cuts my hair or who colors my hair. She is very selective about the products she uses, so you can trust that they are safe, including the straightening/relaxing treatment she uses. She is genuine and caring. You should definitely go see Redd. Once you do, you won't go to anyone else.
I made a haircut appointment with Vivian two weeks ago. It was my first time visiting the salon, so I was a bit nervous, but I plan to keep going there from now on. Vivian is very detailed and precise -- she does an excellent job with haircuts. My ideas and her suggestions blended perfectly, and the result turned out beautifully. I've been coming to this place since 1993. The owner is like a Bay Area Historian to me. He's seen the neighborhood change through more than six decades. Although I now live on the East Coast, I still make it a must to stop by and get a cut because Harold is one of the best barbers to ever hold a pair of clippers. Best, barber in the East Bay. Difficult thing is no appointments so you may wait 30 minutes or a 4 hours. It's definitely worth the wait for the cut that you can get. Larry's amazing and certainly one of the best parts of the East Bay community. You could tell he loves his people and the East Bay.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Tito for years, starting back when he was at a barbershop in Richmond. When I heard he opened up his own place on Solano Ave., I knew I had to follow. The service here is exceptional—Tito and his team are always on time, ensuring I get in and out quickly, which is perfect for my busy schedule.
Even when Tito is out of town, I know I’m in good hands with any of the other barbers—Denyll, Mo, and Frank are all incredibly talented. The whole team truly cares about their craft, and it shows in the quality of their work.

I recently moved to the Bay area, and started going to Hair by Glynis after being recommended by a young woman whose haircut I really liked. She gave me Glynis’s card, I called and was given an appointment within the week for consultation. The shop is conveniently located, and the interior bright and comfortable. Glynis is lovely, welcoming, and very easy to talk to. She took the time to examine my hair type, ask me about prior haircuts (how often? what styles?), my likes and dislikes (bangs, close edging). My first cut was a short pixie cut which I absolutely loved! It was easy to manage and very flattering! Recently I decided to go shorter, and really love this one! I’ve had the opportunity to see her do other beautiful styles while in the shop. She is very talented and professional. I highly recommend Hair by Glynis to anyone looking to get beautiful styling, in comfortable surroundings, performed by a pleasant and accomplished stylist.

Amazing balayage and color correction!!! Lisa is truly an expert in her field. I had almost a year of grow out on my extremely thick and dense brunette hair. But here's the thing: I have a grey streak that I kind of love! And so, while I wanted to freshen up my hair, I didn't want to lose my personality or look like everyone else. Lisa listened and blended my grey streak in with blonde but didn't cover it up. Plus, she was a ton of fun. Ladies, you KNOW the torture of sitting in the chair of someone who doesn't match your vibe and either talks way too much or doesn't engage at all. Lisa and I found common topics and I felt like I had been going to her for years, she made me that comfortable. Now that I've found Lisa, I won't wait another year to get my hair colored. (If you're reading this, girl, I promise!) If you've been putting off getting your hair done because of a bad past experience, or just haven't found the right stylist yet, please please do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Lisa Eve. The entire experience AND the glow up are soooo worth it!

I just got my hair done last night and I must tell you that I am extremely OVERJOYED and AMAZED by the EXCELLENT work that was done on my hair by Fatu and by the assistance of her daughter Thelma! Fatu was KIND, PATIENT, and PROFESSIONAL in a very down to earth way! I felt comfortable the moment I walked into the shop. I have never gotten my hair braided before with extensions so I was PRAYING that I picked the RIGHT shop and GOD answered my prayers! Fatu worked on my hair for 6 hours and over the course of that time her daughter Thelma (who is also very talented) assisted her. She too was very pleasant! Fatu was also VERY understanding of any reservations I might have had being as it was my first time getting my hair professionally braided.The price was VERY reasonable and EVERYONE that I saw in that shop yesterday left with their hair looking MAGNIFICENT!I came late afternoon so I presume these people had come much earlier. Seeing the "finished work" reinforced my "good vibe".I can TRULY say to ANYONE that if you want your hair done by PROFESSIONALS that don't have the INFLATED prices and the PHONY BALONEY attitude then you need to come here! Antoinette did an amazing job on my hair. I have short hair and it's hard to get right, it's super fine so you can see every detail, and I came in unsure but also with super tricky photos to work with. She brought so much warmth to the whole process and didn't judge me for dyeing my own hair and cutting my own bangs. And she nailed the cut, I love it so much. thank you Antoinette!

I got body contouring lipo and bbl and it was my first surgery and I was a special case. It was my first surgery and I am really grossed out by the human body. I am extremely squeamish when it comes to the anatomy and reality of surgery. I cried during my first session not because of the pain but because how grossed out I was by hearing and feeling the fluid move around in my body by her.
So I was a lot, my first session she was going to allow me to cancel because I was scared I would have to poop (I will spare the details) but I ended up arriving a half hour late and she did not make me feel bad at all. In fact I felt so much more secure with her. She knows A LOT and is able to answer all my weird questions. She actually helped me CONSIDERABLY more than my own Dr and his team. She was the one who taught me how to properly use my pillows, assured all my crazy thoughts were normal and talked me through things. Bottom line she helped me physically and mentally. She is talented and knowledgeable beyond her roles because she has studied a lot of adjacent fields. You will be in perfect, healing hands.
Eriko’s correspondence in setting up my appointment and answering any of my questions ahead of my first-time eyelash extension experience was great. The studio was very nice, quiet, and clean. Love my lashes and have an appointment scheduled to go back for my fill.

Laura is amazing! She is incredibly sweet, thorough, neat, and quick. Bonus point: painless! She kept checking in to make sure I was OK (came in for full arms & legs), and although it felt kinda spicy in some areas (as it should!) it really wasn't really that painful at all. I also had brows and lip done the week before, and it was painless and quick, with great result!
The customer service I received from Rhianna when booking my appointment was top notch! I enjoyed the atmosphere of the spa and my massage with Barbara was relaxing! I would not classify the massage as deep tissue as requested, it was more of a Swedish massage. Enjoyable nonetheless! I would definitely come back to try the other services and offerings from the estheticians, Ayurvedic specialists and masseuses. I also would be interested to try the acupuncture! Parking on the street nearby was easy, it was 2 hour parking only and I got to my car right before the 2 mark and was already given a ticket which was a bummer but had nothing to do with the spa just something to be aware of!
I used to see Alexandra regularly when I lived in the East Bay, and even though I’m now based in San Francisco, I still make the trip across the Bay Bridge traffic to see her. Her studio is a calming, peaceful sanctuary, and Alexandra herself is one of the warmest, kindest people I’ve ever met.
One session years ago that really stayed with me was when she gifted me crystals after learning my uncle had passed away — such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that shows how deeply she cares about her clients as people.
She gives truly incredible facials, and the massages that come with them are rejuvenating for the whole body and spirit. I’ve never had another esthetician pay such close attention to detail or be so in tune with what my skin actually needs. Her technique and level of care really set her apart. My husband even had his first-ever facial with her, and it was so satisfying to see everything she was able to extract!
Also, bonus: she has the sweetest little rescue pup who sometimes makes an appearance and adds to the already good vibes.

So so pleased with a deeply Collaborative Process with Dylan on a blackwork sleeve and another very integrated leg piece. Dylan was very open to me being highly involved in the design, allowing for a slow process over weeks before we proceeded with the final piece. This is all very rare for tattoo artists ~ i searched for this for over a year !! I recently had a tattoo done by Martin. Martin is talented beyond most tattoo artists in this country and I have met a lot. He has been tattooing for over 30 years and has an extremely valuable and in-depth knowledge of traditional Japanese tattoos. He's also very friendly when he is tattooing a client and loves to converse, and he teaches people a lot of great things as opposed to somebody who just sits there, tattooing you in silence. When I was tattooed, he made me feel at home. I told him what I wanted, and he showed me a selection of drawings that he had already done in regards to the subject. He then redrew the drawing adding in a few ideas I had. He is a kind individual who takes sanitary precautions to the limit I am going to continue working with Martin as I pursue my quest of having a Japanese bodysuit I could not recommend Martin more he's clean, sterile and a lot of fun.
I also met kitty during the process, and for those of you who are seeking another very talented artist, I could not recommend her more as well.
My first tattoo - about 6"x4" on my left forearm - was EXPERTLY done by the very friendly and focused artist, Keene. Not as painful as I expected, but I felt it. However, I couldn't be happier with the result! His attention to getting the detail I hoped for was awesome. The vibe of the shop was professional yet comfortable, and the hundreds of examples of their art on the walls was like a museum of great ink art. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone - and I hope some this encourages some of your to give Berkeley Tattoo Parlour your business! I'll be going back when I'm ready for another tattoo.

Bro!!!! Was in town on tour with a band randomly decided I wanted to get a tattoo. I started looking around in Berkeley for good tattoo shops. Stumbled across this gem. So I took my time read all the reviews on local places. So I decided to go with this one. Best choice ever! Walked in was greeted instantly by Miguel. Told him I didn’t have a appointment but was only in town for the night and would be stoked if I could get a tattoo from them. He told me he had a couple hours left with his client that he already had in the chair then he could get me in! From the moment I got In That chair till the moment I left every last drop of the experience was exactly what you would want in a tattoo experience! Miguel is so skillful and artistically inclined that it blew my mind. The shop was clean and tidy atmosphere was absolutely amazing. He did and executed exactly what I had asked for and went artistically above and beyond far exceeding my expectation! Anytime I come to Berkeley I’m getting a tattoo with Miguel! Lifesavers! Eric called me back right away, and I was able to get someone later that same day. Dino figured out the problem in 5 minutes, switched out the little piece necessary, and boom, hot water pressure was back on! Bonus: My tenant reports that Dino and he had a great conversation about punk rock and heavy metal. Haha! I am so glad I called them for a second opinion because a different plumbing company tried to charge me $6000 for a water heater replacement! Pelican Plumbing is reliable, reasonably priced (they don't charge unless they fix the problem), and HONEST!! Just give these guys a ring.
I always ask for Stormy. Another outfit wanted to sell me not one but two new water heaters. Stormy ordered a small part and fixed the problem expeditiously. He also forecast another 10 years for the two heaters (system) we have in place. Knowledgable, trustworthy, thoughtful and friendly. Highest recommendation.

Over the last few years Frederic's Electric has installed a couple of GFCI outlets at a very fair price. I have also talked to Frederic by phone to trouble shoot potential electrical problems. Zalman came by to do an assessment of a job (upgrading service to the main panel). It was pretty clear within the first few minutes that we wouldn't be moving forward at that time, but he still spent a good 20 minutes with me walking through the process, cost, potential complications, and timelines!

George was always quick to respond to any of my texts and emails no matter what the news may be. Our bathroom needed a complete teardown to expanding one wall out an additional foot. We worked with Matt on a huge project overhauling our backyard, and he was fantastic from start to finish. He made great recommendations on materials and design decisions, worked quickly and efficiently (including coming in under budget on multiple parts of the project) and his crew was friendly and professional — in fact, they went above and beyond in finding and repairing a broken pipe on the side of the house as they were digging. Their attention to detail has also been really exceptional, on everything from ensuring a level patio to coming back to adjust board spacing on the new deck.

Five years ago, the team at Planted Earth installed a drip irrigation system in our yard to replace an old spray irrigation system. The new system is more flexible, allowing us to adjust placement and flow level as plants mature. Best of all, any time we need help with the system, someone from Planted Earth arrives quickly to assess and resolve the issue. A reliable, responsive, skilled team!

MB Complete Tree removed a very large redwood that had its burl and roots pushing up our foundation. Matt sent a great crew that did an amazing take down and removal. They also ground the huge stump. The crew worked hard and kept the area safe and did an excellent clean-up (including neighbors) after each day of work. I give them an unqualified 5 star recommendation.
A really wonderful dentist. I drive all the way to Berkeley from Sacramento to see them. I have a rare medical condition that has specific implications for dental health. They've been accommodating and proactive -- doing research where necessary to make sure that I'm getting the best care possible. I've also never had an attempt to upsell cosmetic work here; no discussion of whitening or veneers, both of which I had every dentist mention every single visit the whole time I lived in Los Angeles. Do I have to bill back to insurance? Yes. Have I ever had a problem with that? No. Ultimately, billing back to insurance (as others have mentioned in their reviews) is a very small tradeoff for me when compared with having a dental team that I trust.

I get very overwhelmed by new places, sounds, smells, etc., and I walked in with my sunglasses and noise cancelling headphones (iykyk). I was not judged or asked to take them off. Everyone there treated me so nicely. I didn't have a panic attack or cry!
It is apparent that Dr. Kami leads his team with kindness and warmth, because that is how I was welcomed today. I feel very grateful to have found his practice and only wish I'd found them sooner. I don't hate the dentist anymore! :)

I started coming to Dr Bath two weeks ago for plantar fasciitis and I have had such relief that I can say that the end of my pain is in sight! I appreciate the multiple modalities of hands on massage and chiropractic care.
The staff here is great. My body feels good and well adjusted. I also brought my auntie and she says she can feel it working and has better leg movement.
I met Dr. A when I was 13 months pregnant with my second child and unable to walk or even sit due to what I later discovered was a ruptured disc in my lumbar region. While my HMO initially advised me to wait out the pain, offered opiate painkillers I was not comfortable taking, and recommended exercises I could not perform, Dr. A traveled to my home for my initial session and actually looked at my back and body. Her first adjustment enabled me to walk taller and longer than I had since my initial injury. When I had a setback and my progress stalled, Dr. A correctly identified that I had a ruptured disc and helped arm me with information needed to advocate for more invasive medical intervention that was also pregnancy safe. In addition to adjustments, she took time to connect me with a stabilizing belt, exercises, and ways of moving that helped me function enough to do things like watch my 4-year-old, take showers, prepare quick meals, and slowly but surely build strength and endurance. Through it all, Dr. A demonstrated again and again her incredible gift for trauma-informed body work. At a time when I didn't trust anyone to touch my body--myself included--I knew I was in good hands with Dr. A. She is gentle and confident, sincere and compassionate, and she possesses an innate ability to listen well and connect deeply. From our first meeting, I felt safe with Dr. A. This safety and trust helped me not only move again but also rebuild my own trust in my body and in myself. I returned to Dr. A after giving birth as I dealt with recovery for both c-section surgery and my ruptured disc. She laid the groundwork for physical and mental recovery, giving me the confidence to move forward--body and mind--in a healthier way for myself and my kids. Today, I am back to work, able to hike, hold my kids, and once again feel strong in my body. Thank you, Dr. A for helping me return to my life and body in a deeper, richer way.

Berkeley Dog and Cat is a wonderful veterinarian hospital. I have been coming here for over 20 years after taking my dog to numerous other vets to find out what was wrong. They figured out her health problem right away and she went on to live a long happy life. Now I take my cat there. The vets are top notch and the front office staff are kind and welcoming.
After more than four years between classes, I was so happy to return to Heather's class in person! I was pleasantly surprised to find that Adeline has moved to a new, even better location, just a few doors up. This class was exactly what I need, and I especially appreciate the helpful title: "Continuing Beginner," that's me all right! September will be 9 years I've been practicing yoga, but (almost ) half of that has been (almost) entirely on Zoom so getting in-person adjustments is a welcome change. I come with the heart of a beginner. Thanks for the great class! Also, pro tip for other continuing beginners: if you don't go to Adeline Bakery for a treat after this class ends, you're doing it wrong.
I love Yoga Kula - every time I visit the Bay Area I make sure to take some classes here. This place oozes authenticity, inclusiveness and relaxation. The teachers are great and offer a varied selection of classes. Amazing teachers and great vibe - very much recommended. Great value vs other gyms as well. I wasn't familiar with Bikram Yoga prior although I practiced many other forms of Yoga. The heated space really up levels the experience and I can totally let go and really engage with my body in a healthy way. Teacher's provide a great balance in which you're "pushed" only so far you're getting the best out of yourself including honoring you're own limits. Overall very much recommended!

This studio combines meditation and workout. Studio provides lots of variety of classes. There are excellent teachers there. Although not all are excellent in my view, of course. Yoga mat, blanket, blocks, straps , and tea are available for free. There are many sessions like sound healing, specific trainings, etc... apart from membership. This studio is large and has an open feeling to it due to windows and sunroof. The studio is elegant.

Saraswathi Devi is most known for the one of a kind Yoga Therapy program that she founded at UC Berkeley which serves yoga practitioners with and without disabilities. She is also known for her full spectrum care of families through the practice of yoga through Pre/Post Natal, her popular Family/Baby classes as well as Yoga and Meditation for all walks of life. Although Saraswathi Devi has in-depth knowledge of yoga as a disciplined way of life, as an experienced teacher she is able to meet you where you are at with care and grace.

I specified strong pressure and Olive wrecked me in the best possible way. 2 days after the massage everything feels so much better, esp my feet. Facilty is very tastefully decorated and clean.
I'm five months pregnant and went for my first treatment with Lori last week. Within minutes of her working on me, the pain in my feet and hands went away and has stayed that way after a week of intense work that required me to be on my feet all day. She's incredibly experienced and one of the most professional masseuses I've worked with. Highly recommend!

Devin of Deva Flora Healing Arts works magic! After breast cancer surgery and reconstruction, my breast and underarm scar tissue was really tightening up and I had no idea someone could help. The combination of her impeccable knowledge of anatomy and how your body truly works with her experience and intentions to heal are truly wonderful and worth every moment and dollar spent.Often people work with a PT in emergency circumstances or recovering from an injury, but you may consider also working with her not in a time of crisis to improve your ergonomic relationship to whatever you do in your daily life and get tuned up! She’s wonderful and I can’t say enough good things, highly recommended.

The support staff is also very supportive, welcoming and competent in dealing with the insurance maze. Thank you Lisa Topete. I went to PHRC after a mountain biking accident and healing of my fractured pelvic bone. The scar tissue buildup was restricting my range of motion and made bike riding painful. After much research, I found PHRC as the only PT clinics in the North Bay providing both strengthening training and manual therapy. I’m completely past my injuries and in a better physical condition than before my fall accident.
I've been working with a couple therapists for spinal nerve issues. The therapists are knowledgeable and very helpful, and willing to work with your schedule and preferences. They may try a variety of different techniques in order to help ease immediate pain and build up the needed strength to prevent it going forward.
Getting in touch over the phone can be hit or miss as the line is often busy, but they are usually good about calling back if you leave a message. Alternatively, you can go visit them and chat with the front desk in-person – the staff are a delight.

I've been seeing Marny Culpepper for the past few months as I started fertility treatments. She is so warm and knowledgeable on the benefits of acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy. With her help, I was able to conceive on my first round of fertility treatments! She also helped me manage my neck pains during the first trimester with acupuncture, gua sha, and stretches. I would highly recommend Marny for anyone who is on their fertility and/or pregnancy journey. She truly cares for each of her patients.
I was dealing with digestive issues and worsening PMS for awhile, a long long while. Disappointed with how doctor appointments would go, I was searching for alternative methods of wellness/healthcare for real changes. I had a little experience with Chinese medicine as a kid so when I came across Ivy’s social media through an acquaintance, who mentioned how transformative her sessions with Ivy were, I felt that I needed to try acupuncture. Finally, I worked up the courage (very scared of needles here) to make my first appointment a few years ago. There are so many acupuncture practices in the area that it can be overwhelming which one to choose. I am writing this review to share what an absolute gem Mitchell Family acupuncture is. I’ve worked with almost all of the acupuncturists there and everyone is just amazing. Throughout my preconception phase, I was working with Alison, who I attribute a healthy and successful natural pregnancy to. Our weekly sessions and her expert knowledge about herbs and other holistic healing modalities restored my hormonal balance. I can’t thank her enough for that. Throughout pregnancy, I mostly saw Britt, who’s been so gentle and kind, exactly what I needed during that time. When it was time for my baby to come and I was in prodromal labor for a few days, one session with Britt was what it took to get things going and I welcomed my daughter 24 hours later. I am so glad that I found this practice and I will keep coming for my general wellbeing. Thank you to everyone at Mitchell!

I've received traditional acupuncture sessions for 50+ years from a variety of acupuncture providers in Bay Area, and at last and none too soon, I discovered this superb and experienced acupuncturist! Her office is comfortable, clean and professional, scheduling with a receptionist in the office. Nancy herself is older and wiser than other acupuncturists-she just knows where to put needles after understanding what you need/want in a brief q and a health conversation. She "gets it" and gets to work! My primary reason for this review of Nancy's practice is Nancy-non-judgmental, very caring and experienced, she listens, providing the best possible outcome of presented issues. Also, she doesn't try to sell you herbs, teas, treatments that so many less experienced try to include. Just the basics with compassion, simply and powerfully, reasonably priced.

I came to Abigail because I was so run down and my immune system was reacting all fall and winter long, every year. I had blood sugar and adrenal issues. I was exhausted.
I'm amazed to say I now don't get sick any more often than the average person. I generally sleep well and most of my blood sugar issues are gone. I no longer take adrenal supplements. And my energy is back.
Abigail also greatly reduced my (very) long Covid symptoms through acupuncture and nutritional changes.
She also helps me in the more traditional ways with pain relief when I have an injury or my chronic new problems are hurting me.
I would not have thought it possible that a practitioner of any kind could help me with my mystery problems. But Abigail is very very special. I can't recommend her highly enough.
