I chose Cure after a trusted friend highly recommended it, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, my first visit was disappointing.
When I arrived, there was no greeting or welcome. Mia, my technician, did not introduce herself and immediately asked what polish color I wanted. I explained that I wanted to take a break from polish before starting the Remedy Pedicure service. Throughout the appointment, Mia’s demeanor felt very rushed and impersonal, almost as if she was simply trying to get through the service rather than provide a welcoming or relaxing experience. That energy, combined with the lack of communication and customer care, made the overall experience feel uncomfortable and disappointing.
For a $70 service, the “Remedy” pedicure felt very basic and underwhelming. During my appointment, I overheard another client being offered toenail buffing instead of polish, so I asked if I could have the same. Mia explained she didn’t know how to perform that service and would need to ask the owner because she didn’t have the same credentials. The owner responded, “I’m on my break,” and offered no assistance. That interaction made me feel dismissed as a paying customer.
It was also disappointing to learn that something as simple as toenail buffing could not be accommodated by my technician. As a customer, I would expect basic services like that to be available regardless of who performs the pedicure, especially at this price point.
Before leaving, I also shared my concerns with the young lady at the front desk who handled my payment and appointment.
I rarely leave negative reviews and truly wanted to support this Black-owned business, which makes this even more disappointing. I did schedule another appointment before leaving, but I’ll be canceling and continuing my search for a welcoming waterless pedicure spa with customer service and service quality that better match the price point.
UPDATE: After speaking further with the owner, I do want to update my review. There was clearly some misunderstanding and lack of communication during my visit that affected my overall experience at the time. However, the owner personally reached out to me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern regarding my experience and the health of my natural nails.
She took the time to thoroughly explain the situation, acknowledge my concerns, educate me on nail health/restoration, and offer solutions moving forward. I truly appreciated her professionalism, accountability, and willingness to make things right.
While my initial experience did not feel as positive as I hoped in the moment, I truly respect how thoughtfully and professionally the situation was handled afterward. Customer service after the fact says a lot about a business, and I appreciate the care and attention she gave to resolving my concerns. I look forward to giving them another chance.
