I am a previous rider but afternearly a decade since I have last ridden,I felt that I needed a refresher so I took this course over Memorial Day (Monday - Tuesday). Since this is my second time taking the class, I can compare it to the course I had before. So how this works is you will sign up for the class and do the online schooling portion of it. Gets a majority of the paperwork and learning out of the way. The 2 days on the range was 8-5 on Monday and 8-about 2:30 on Tuesday. This walks you through the very beginning (so if you have never ridden a motorcycle, don't worry! As long as you can ride a regular bike, you can ride a motorcycle). It is very basic instruction that leads up to a bit more advanced riding. It will at least get you road worthy. They go through so much information and guide you through the exercises on the motorcycle and where you can improve. That is real time feedback so whe. You repeat the exercise, you get better each time. It was a very well thought out class and I got a lot of valuable information out of it.
My instructors were Steven and Fred. Seriously, these guys must have nerves of steel. They were super helpful and made the class fun! If you needed clarification on something, they were always there, happy to help. I don't have anything negative to say about these instructors. They were awesome and gave clear, concise information. If you did something really well, they were sure to let you know, same as the things you needed to work on.
Here are some key differences from my first class to this class. The time on the motorcycle was massively different. The course I took nearly a decade ago, consisted of 2 days, including classroom instructions. So the time on the motorcycle was much smaller. It was about 5 hours on the motorcycle. This class is 1 full day on the motorcycle and a few more hours in the morning (before testing - both written and riding) there is a lot more time on the motorcycle in this course. The instructors are better in this course. They give you not only verbal instructions but also give you a demo of someone riding that course before doing the exercise on your own. The previous course i took was only verbal instruction.
In my class, everyone passed. However, my husband took the course and couple weeks before me and 2 people failed. As long as you pay attention and follow directions, the success rate is pretty high. Yes, you still have to pass both tests but if you listen as you are going through, they cover most of the written test. If you are not a danger to yourself or someone else, you have a higher probability of passing the riding course.
The riding test consists of 5 stages, in my previous class, it was all 1 stage. It was trying to remember exactly where to turn, which way to go and what you are supposed to do. This one, they break it down into 5 very easy to follow sections.
If you are new to riding or just looking to get your motorcycle endorsement, i highly recommend this class. Great instructors and excellent learning in this course. Can't recommend this enough, especially to first time riders.
