Clutch Motorcycle School
“Not all motorcycle schools are the same!!
Clutch Motorcycle School is a great place to learn to ride a motorcycle and to get your endorsement!!
I started my process at another school in April. Prior to taking this course, I had never been on a motorcycle. I went to a school with 4.9 stars.
Key points:
a. 10 students and 1 instructor
(8 men and 1 other woman and myself. 2 men had licenses in other countries and 5 had years of riding experience, 1 man was fairly new)
b. Bike used was poor maintained - no neutral and clutch was going out
c. Limited personal instructions and many of the lessons were chaotic (confusion in what direction you were going, what you were suppose to be doing, etc.)
Outcome: The other woman opted out at lunch break. I was counseled out a few lessons after her departure. I was told that I was going too slow and this course wasn’t for beginners. That you had to already have been riding before taking this course. At the time I was counseled out, one of the other students had lost control of his motorcycle during one of the lessons and another dropped his bike. Both were still allowed to stay.
4 months later after practicing on my own, I took a BRC2 course at Clutch Motorcycle School with a 5 star rating.
Key points:
a. 10 students and two instructors (Arron and Steve)
(9 men and myself, 8 men who had been riding for years, 1 man who had been riding for 6 months)
b. Bike used was well maintained and easy to use.
c. Lots of personal instruction, very helpful tips each time a task was completed, all lessons where well explained, organized, and executed.
Outcome: I earned my endorsement. (With a little extra help from Steve and Tim).
Final takeaways:
In hindsight, between the condition of the bike I was using and the instructions I received, I don’t believe I would have been able to pass the course even if I was allowed to stay at the first school. I also don’t know that I would have passed the skills test if I had started with Clutch. However, I do believe I would have had a better chance, and after working with Clutch, my riding has improved noticeably in a short period of time.
It has been a wonderful learning experience. Thank you Aaron, Steve and Tim!”
