Farzaneh has been my go-to hair person for years, and we've done bobs, lobs, blunt bangs, curtain bangs, undercuts, long layers, and more. Every cut feels modern and easy. I trust her to keep things the same when it's working and help me figure out how to switch it up when it's time for a change. I'm not a hair stylist, so I really appreciate Farzaneh's ability to talk through what's possible and realistic to expect for my hair type (and my preference for low-maintenance daily styling). She has recently opened up appointments earlier in the day (7 a.m. on some weekdays!) which is perfect for my work schedule. Her salon is so relaxing and private with space for one client at a time, and I love getting my hair done with a view of the little garden area outside. Great hair, great company, and a haircut experience that feels more like a self-care ritual than just checking a box on my to-do list.

Priscila has been dying my hair for over a year now. When I bring a reference photo to show her, the finished product is even better than the photo. Each time, without fail, I leave so excited with the color. It doesn’t stop there, the color she creates gets better over time. Revealing new colors that are even better than my original concept. She is truly talented with hair. It’s a delight to sit in her chair.

Hair type: My hair is difficult. Individual strands are FINE, not coarse, but THICK, & heavy, therefore it doesn't want to hold a curl. And, in addition it is curly, wavy, AND straight....all mixed together.
I have searched and tried to get my hair the “perfect blonde” for years. No one has been able to get my hair bright and really blonde. Jerica is the ONLY hairdresser that gets it right every time. Great place to go if you're putting on make up for a TV show or a costume party or Halloween or whatever prices are competitive for downtown Santa Cruz. Best of all they have DJs on Friday nights, and the place turns into a bit of a party. Plenty of local artists show their work and they have fashion shows coming up.
LAReina is the curly girl QUEEN! She took amazing care of my hair. She has a real artists touched. She gave me my first ever bangs (by my request) and wow! Blown away! Will be returning.
I am seeing Jessica for my dermasweeps and I love how my skin is getting that golden glow. Many friends have told me that my skin is looking clearer than ever. Moreover, the esthetician JESSICA is extremely beautiful inside out. I appreciate the level of care and knowledge she extends while treating my face. Glen is absolutely outstanding! Communication to set up an appointment was a breeze. He is appointments only so that nobody feels rushed which is great. Shop is right in downtown with a nice cozy vibe to it. He was ready right at my appointment time and what a craftsman Glen is! I walked in with a mop on my head and came out looking real sharp with a haircut and beard trim. After a string of lackluster barber experiences elsewhere in Santa Cruz I'm so glad to have found Surf City. I'll definitely be back!

Very cool vibe with friendly barbers. I heard a ton of great things about Waves and Fades, and they were all true. The experience from start to finish was overall pretty great. My only concern is that I was very clear about keeping the length of my hair on top the same, but the barber cut so much of it off that the style was completely off from what I explained. No big deal, hair grows back, but I was kind of bummed about it.

Great haircuts, great vibe in the place. The first time I came in there was two days before my wedding, and I was kinda panicking trying to get a good haircut. They were super busy, and I didn't have an appointment, but they fit me in (I did have to wait a long time, but that made sense because they were kindly fitting me into a busy schedule). My new wife loved the cut, and I've been going there ever since. They usually run on time, so if you have an appointment, not too much waiting. I still go there even though I don't live super close anymore like I used to.
I hadn't actually gotten a formal professional haircut in almost five years, and I was very pleased with the result both with my longish hair and with my beard. Great job!

But the cost aside, I've been going there since Natural Bridges was an elementary school and Mission Hill was still the Matadors! I was almost not going to get a pedicure while visiting Santa Cruz but I’m so glad I came to Tropical nails! I can’t express enough how amazing my pedicure was. I really appreciate how much time and detail and precision went into just the prep of the nails before getting painted. I felt so relaxed and taken care of and got to leave with a beautiful pedicure. I wish I lived here to be able to give them my regular business but I will definitely come back when I come to visit again. Very sweet people and an amazing job❤️

Best pedicure in town and amazing service for the price. For $40 you get a full pedi with hot wax, stone and amazing massage. Pauline and her team are 1st rate. They spend time and don’t rush. Make sure you have the time to spend and enjoy the experience.

I was so relaxed after my pedicure manicure I left my wedding ring in the dish on the table. I didn't realize until they were closed. I was able to get ahold of someone and they put me at ease they had my ring safe and see you tomorrow. I won't be going anyplace else, and it's okay if paraffin wax gets on my wedding ring next time! I have seen Michelle many times over the course of a couple years. Most recently I got facials from her once a week for a couple months in light of a hormonal acne flare up. In those couple months my skin made so much more progress than it did from going to a dermatologist and using antibiotics and prescribed topicals. I stopped using those products and started using Michelles products that she makes herself. Her services, products and advice have led me to have clean skin in such a short amount of time, I am extremely grateful! Not only is she an expert at her craft, she is also hilarious and very fun to talk to. I always look forward to our convsersations and being in her energy. Janet gives the most exquisite facials of all time, I always leave there feeling like a million bucks with my skin glowing for weeks! I love letting Janet guide me to whatever treatments she feels my skin could use most. She’s obviously drinking from the fountain of youth herself ? so it’s easy to trust what she says is best. This was my first facial at this location. Due to covid I had not had a facial in 13 months and my skin showed it. Kathleen gave me an outstanding facial. She was thorough and I was impressed with the product line she uses. What was a wonderful plus was the massage to my feet and the having my hands treated with a rich cream and put into heated gloves. Kathleen was so professional and pleasant. She knows skin care well and answered any questions I had regarding products. The ambience here was lovely and very relaxing. My skin glowed after my facial! I will be a regular customer.

Loved the night experience we booked an outdoor sauna and tub. The staff were friendly and attentive. My only complaint/suggestion for improvement would be the lighting. The outdoor tub had one light that felt very annoying kind of like standing outside with a spot light I feel the experience would be better with some accent lighting or hanging outdoor little lights. Would still recommend and definitely would visit again.
We had an amazing experience at this spa. We booked the 1.5 hrs for the private tub and sauna. The booking came with two complimentary teas, which are all so good. Our visit was back in July, and although it was very relaxing, it might've been better suited for colder months. It didn't seem like we could adjust the temperature. The attendants were very nice and social. My only tip would be to make sure you keep track of your time! The spa attendants will notify you when you have 10 minutes left, but it doesn't hurt to track the time yourself.

I walked in off the street and was met with a classic old-school vibe with friendly staff. I asked for an intricate single line tattoo on the inside of my ankle and for a touch up on an old tattoo from 20+ years ago. Gerald was accommodating and obvious with lots of flash to showcase his talent. He's easy to talk to and most of the flash you see is his work. The place is clean and there are multiple private rooms. Highly recommend!

Got a tattoo by Dan today! I'm so in love with it! My uncle has been going to him for all his many tattoos, and when my family decided to get matching ink in honor of my late grandfather, he was more than happy to get us all in the studio! Lines are so clean and neat, and color is unreal! A true artist, and great guy to talk to while getting your piece done! I was a little nervous at first, given I had never been in a tattoo shop, but immediately, we found something to talk about and before I knew it, my tattoo was finished! Hardly even realized it started!

I live in South Carolina but am a Cali native and wanted a Redwood tree tat from someone that actually knows what Reds are. I found Ally doing a Google search and know it was Divine guidance that led me to her! From an hour zoom consultation a month out, to a couple hours of chatting about all things tats and life, to a pain free tattoo experience, Ally was the most excellent hostess, fantastic artist, gifted and skilled human. My Redwood tree tattoo exceeded my expectations and wishes by a ton! I'll travel across the country again for my next tattoo - she really is THAT good!! Thank you soooo much Ally! My artist, Butter, made the process so comfortable and enjoyable. Not only is Butter incredibly talented, but they're also super chill, which made the whole experience even more comfortable! We were very impressed with Frank and Jose who were sent out to us after a phone call to Duncan Plumbing. They assessed our problem, quickly acquired the needed parts, replaced the leaking water line to our refrigerator and added a shutoff valve. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and a couple of nice guys as well. We will definitely call upon Duncan Plumbing again for any plumbing needs we might have.

I had a residential plumbing issue that I lived with for some time because I thought it would be a much bigger problem than it was. SC Plumbing (Anne and Jasper) were super easy to work with and explained what was likely happening with my system - Jasper was on time and worked clean/fast. The service exceeded my expectations and I will be happy to use SCP in the future.

Recently my parents who live out in rural part of Aptos had a problem with main water line. They live on a little bit of a hill thats 380 feet street to house. The line to house had been in service before my family moved in 1974 which was galvanize. This being the forth leak it was time for new. After 3 estimates they settled on ECO-Flow. After they finished my parents couldn't say enough about the service this company provided, start to finish this company went above and beyond what most provide. To our amazement Jacy said he could be out in an hour and showed up around half an hour later. He got right to work and located the approximate location of the blockage. We have a very long house to septic line and he had to use two different cables to unblock the pipe. It was hard work in 93 degree weather but he finished the work in a couple hours, made suggestions to straighten the dip in the line and install another clean out should we again need his services. He is very personable, communicates well, is very efficient and his prices are very reasonable. If you need a plumber for what ever reason, take our advice and be sure to give Jacy a call!
Cory and the guys at Apollo Plumbing are all very professional. We have a small office on HWY 9 and right from the start I felt like our project was treated like we were a serious commercial project. We had a leak in the water main and we were at risk of being shut off by the water company. Cory took our call on the weekend and due to our circumstances said they would do it as a 'rush job' but not charge the emergency price! He explained why a leak detection and patch job on our 70 year old galvanized piping would prob. be a waist of $. The bid was incredibly detailed and explained the 'progress payment' process. They delt with the county and the permitting, and tried to keep the water on for our tenants during the project. Very professional.

We had an electrical emergency on a Friday at 4pm. I called Pleasure Point Electric out of the blue based on reviews here. David took the call and after I explained the circumstances, assured me he would take care of the matter immediately by calling PG&E and sending Carlos out to investigate the issue. It would have been very easy after a long week to let the late Friday afternoon call go to voicemail and handle it on Monday, leaving us to worry about the issue all weekend.Carlos arrived within 15 minutes, investigated the issue, ensured everything was safe, and referred the matter to David, who provided a quote on Monday to replace the entire electrical panel and obtain all permits on our behalf. He reassured us that all would be fine. Once the permits were secured, the Pleasure Point Electric team arrived, installed the new panel, coordinated with PG&E to restore power, and obtained the City permit with no issues. This company is a fine example of a local business that operates professionally with honesty, integrity, and fair pricing. The work was spot on and David and his team were very professional and personable. We are grateful to have found Pleasure Point Electric and highly recommend them.

We cannot speak highly enough of Alpha Omega Electric (AOE). From start to finish, their team was a model of professionalism, timeliness, transparency, and skill. What started as a stressful and expensive ordeal turned into a smooth and positive experience thanks to the incredible people at AOE.
We were thrown a curveball when our home insurance company notified us they would be terminating our policy within 30 days because of the outdated and hazardous Zinsco electrical panel on our home. To make matters more frustrating, we had recently upgraded our sub-panel to a SPAN through another company, who neglected to mention the dangers of the existing Zinsco panel.
After calling seven licensed electricians, all of whom quoted us a minimum six-month wait due to PG&E scheduling, we were beginning to panic. Then we spoke to Duncan, who runs the AOE office. Duncan is a breath of fresh air, calm, confident, communicative, and clear with a great sense of humor. He told us he could get the job done in six weeks. Incredibly, AOE completed everything in just five, saving our insurance and our peace of mind.
Ryan Morrella is equally excellent. He came out for the initial estimate, patiently answered all our questions, and then went above and beyond when PG&E changed their requirements mid-process. At one point, PG&E insisted the new panel be installed in a location that would have required demoing most of our front exterior wall. Ryan handled the situation masterfully, working directly with PG&E, navigating their red tape, and ultimately saving us from having to deface the front of our home. That kind of customer service, advocacy and expertise is rare and so appreciated.
Every single person we interacted with at AOE including one of their co-owners, Paul Huerta who checked in to see how the project was coming along, was friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful of our time and home. Nothing short of miraculous. I've never had anything but wonderful results here. We have a large dog who "helps" a lot with gophers, so our main rug gets a lot of muddy paw traffic despite our best efforts. After cleaning, our rug looks better than the day we bought it - I couldn't be more impressed, and won't bring my rugs anywhere else. Photos are before and after cleaning!
Sarti Padgett was courteous, called to narrow the window of arrival so I was prepared, arrived when he said he would, got to work, professional and detail oriented. He was honest, and adjusted the actual price downward from the anticipated price once he realized that there was not as much work as he had anticipated (who is that honest any more??). The 2 Recliners were filthy from outside workers and kids sitting on them (some kind of cloth/microfiber material), and had turned from their nearly white to nearly brown. Why did I buy white recliners? Don't ask. They are back to beautiful again! THANK YOU.

So, this was the most easy-peasy experience I think I've ever had. I called and left a message late in the day, got a call back the same early evening, David went out to the house to look at the issue the next morning without us even having to be there, and I called the office that afternoon and paid over the phone! Oliver and his team did a fantastic job with our backyard and side yard! We started with what was essentially a big, overgrown gravel rectangle, and they turned our vision into a reality with beautiful new redwood planters, a turf area for our kids to play, fieldstone borders, drought-resistant and native plantings, and a really lovely walkway of bluestone. It looks SO much better and more polished, and the space is now somewhere we genuinely want to spend time as a family. But the best part of the process was working with Oliver and his team. Oliver is one of the most humble, dedicated people we've met and was flexible with every change we made throughout the 2-3 weeks of work. Cannot say enough GREAT things about the design and construction of my new large koi pond. We had a pond for 20 years and because of the design, tree roots were able to grow through and cause huge leaks. I was referred by a local koi expert (Rick Blazo) to the owner of Pond Magic, Esau as the best designer. He built a beautiful Oasis for my koi. It is truly a stunning landscape architecture master piece. Beautiful lighting, plants, stonework. The neighbors are convinced we have a natural spring in our front years! It’s also predator proof. His employees were respectful, kind, quiet (no loud music) and we were able to have guests in our air bnb without interruption! This was even with a back hoe, 10 foot hole, large rock delivery etc. AMAZING COMPANY! We have worked with 4 other Koi Pond design/maintenance companies (at least) and POND MAGIC hit it out of the park!!! Amazing service and STUNNING results.

this company is amazing. They gave us a great price on removing a huge tree that was in between 2 houses. The crew was so professional and left our home without a single dust of tree. the tree was over 100 feet high and had to have a crane to remove it due to the size and weight. We were so impressed with the crew and their skills with the removal. We will definitely use them again for any tree service we need.
I had La Selva up to my property to do tree removal and trimming for fire clearance. The project was awesome from start to finish. The estimator arrived at the scehduled time and they provided a highly competitive quote in just two days. They scheduled the work quickly and importantly, the kept the scheduled dates. OMG! I came to this dentist because I was having excruciating dental pain due to a crown that had not been shaped properly at my former provider. I was literally BAWLING the night before and needed to go to ER because of how bad the pain was.I called Five Gables the next morning, and by a stroke of luck, they squeezed me in same-day. They reshaped the crown for me, and I kid you not, I feel SO MUCH BETTER AFTER 3 DAYS! I'm so mad I didn't come here sooner! I dont wanna unalive myself anymore! My 80+ year-old Dad's life has been changed by Dr. Chris' regime of physical therapy and home exercises.
Over the past fifty years, Dad has had other Physical Therapists but none that resulted in him following through with the home exercises.
Discussing this as a family, we think it is partly because Dr Chris sent him home with adult-type exercises involving apparatuses used for resistance and body weight exercises at his office sessions. The other piece is that he greatly enjoys how Dr. Chris works out with him.
Dr. Chris gave him a pulley system that hooked to a closed door and two types of bands. These are Dad's to keep.
Also included is a website login that Dad uses to log his reps. The site shows videos of all the exercises he has been assigned to do that week.
Everyone at the office has been warm, kind, and upbeat. My parents love the vibe.

The only issue I have had with Surf City Chiro is that the receptionist could have taken a little time to check my insurance coverage before asking me, as a returning customer, for $85.00 up front. It is what they advertise on their web-site after all. Likewise, Dr. Smith could have been less confident about my coverage. Confidence is an asset and a liability and Tom Smith is not lacking in confidence. My coverage is very clear, I get twenty visits a year and all exams and extras are covered for a single $15.00 copay. Don't look for an apology if/when they make a mistake. There is no one like Gary. He can tame wild beasts and doctor their pets, too! He is excellent with animals, of all sorts. He never suggests to spend your life savings on temptation treatments for animals. I thing that they appreciate him for not telling the pet "owners" to practice heroics. I can not speak highly enough of Dr. Gary. Neither can all the pets that I have brought to him over the decades. Kindness, gentleness, sincerity, caring, intuative, and healer.
As a first-time cat parent navigating the learning curve with my kitten, Ozzy, Marc and Christine were the perfect fit for us. They both showed incredible patience and kindness, especially toward me as I learned the ins and outs of kitten care. Ozzy suffers from motion sickness, making car rides challenging, but Marc and Christine provided thoughtful solutions and medication to ease his symptoms. They made each visit easy and stress-free, helping with shots and all aspects of Ozzy’s medical care.
It’s clear that Marc and Christine genuinely love animals and understand the concerns of pet parents, which made us feel completely at ease. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for caring and knowledgeable veterinary professionals.

I have an anxious Border Collie but somehow they were able to trim her nails and remove mats. My Lucy was so happy! She stood up at the counter to say good-bye and give a kiss! A five star visit for sure!

I've been attending level 1-2 classes with Maya Lev at the Yoga Center for the past year. Classes currently take place at the Vet's Hall in a spacious warm room with high ceilings and a quintessential Santa Cruz vibe overlooking Front St. Maya is a gem and a master teacher and I am so glad to discover her. Here's what I love about Maya: She has a deep knowledge and embodied understanding of Iyengar Yoga, anatomy, and human movement that consistently comes forth in her teaching. Each class is artfully crafted, with a progressive flow that ends with the whole body feeling completely stretched, worked out, lengthened, and strengthened. Maya has an exquisite verbal teaching style that allows students to move from one asana to another with clarity and precision about what to do, pay attention to, and feel. Students can drop deeply into their own bodily experience and are not required to frequently stop their practice to watch or copy a teacher. When she does demonstrate, which is not even in every class, it's to show specific details about a pose to help students understand how to refine their approach, and it's always very useful, like an "aha." Maya seamlessly instructs both students in the room and on Zoom in a hybrid way that truly works - with dual attention to each population that does not distract from the other. She teaches both groups while moving around the room making hands-on adjustments that give gentle yet clear and firm guidance. What an art! Maya always brings a meditative spiritual quality to each class, and she's down-to-earth and funny too - a great combination! As a Feldenkrais Method® movement teacher of 30 years and a person with many previous injuries and limitations who needs a really good teacher, I truly appreciate and feel safe with the master level of Maya's teaching. We are lucky to have Maya and the other excellent instructors at YCSC.

I ABSOLUTELY love Village Yoga and let me tell you I have tried every studio. Amy and Sally make this space calming and functional—and the community is just the best. Special shout out to Alana’s yoga flow, Michael’s hot 26, and Pink’s yoga hiit. At village yoga it’s always easy to leave it all on the mat!
As a beginning yogi, I started taking weekly yin yoga classes at PPY in April of 2021 because I needed to do *something* for my health. I found the atmosphere here to be extremely welcoming and non-judgmental. My favorite thing is the emphasis on how I am feeling in my own body and/or how capable my own body is, without comparisons to how the other people in the class are doing or even how the instructor is performing the poses. The mood of the classes is very supportive. I have continued to take weekly yin classes with Magnolia and Katie, who are excellent, as well as taking occasional classes with Melissa, Tara and Gwen. The yin yoga (and the restorative or gentle yoga) classes are excellent for beginners and people looking for deep stretching and relaxation. I have noticed a difference since 2021. Highly recommend.
I signed up for a weekly pass when I was visiting Santa Cruz last winter, it might be my new favorite yoga studio in the Bay Area. Spacious studio, teachers are wonderful and welcoming, class can be challenging depending on the level. Highly recommend anyone who's looking for a new studio to check out.
I arrived to the place and the waiting area was very clean and welcoming. I was quickly greeted by Yvonne and she explained a bit about the massage. I got a lymphatic drainage massage. It was so soothing and amazing. Music was calming and it was nice and dark in the room and very clean. She was extremely professional and gentle. She ensured my chest was covered while I adjusted myself from being face down. Great experience and I can't wait to go back!!
Don is a very skilled bodyworker. He is kind and has a lovely, sensitive touch. With a gentle pressure, the work is very deep.

I’ve had a couple of cranial sacral sessions with Meghan and they have been super helpful for my TMJ! Meghan actually put her hands in my mouth to release these areas of tension. I left with much more ease and relaxation in my jaws. Not to mention the rest of the session was incredibly relaxing and nurturing for my whole body. Evelyn is a phenomenal massage therapist and acupuncturist, who is extremely skilled and effective in the work she does. I’ve missed her very much since I moved to Oregon nearly 4 years ago, and I’m grateful that she was able to fit me into her schedule while I’m back in town for a visit. She was able to get some very tense and stubborn muscles to release in my neck, back, hips and legs, and I feel SO much better than I have in months. The difference is truly miraculous, she is simply the best!!
I have been seeing Jordan for about 3 years, it is the best Accupuncture experience I’ve ever had! I am someone who is interested in health and already a believer in Chinese medicine - but Jordan has a particular approach that is very unique. I’m the beginning he was treating my neck pain after a serious car accident… but the appointments have evolved into overall health and general well being. ok, this woman is consistently exceeding my expectations. To be honest, I was skeptical when I first started acupuncture, I was hopeful but more doubtful. I live a pretty active lifestyle and am often nursing some kind of ache or pain, but somehow, when I get off Christina’s table I walk away feeling not only elevated energetically, but aches I didn’t even realize I was carrying have been released. She is also so invested in my wellbeing that when she leaves me on the table during treatment, she will often grab one of her books and come back in with some kind of recommendation on how to further support what I’m dealing with. Additionally, I’ve recommended her to friends who have let me know on multiple occasions how helpful their treatments with her have been. I feel so blessed to have found her - even my partner adores her and he’s never met her, that’s how much of a difference she makes in my life. She is humble, compassionate, and incredibly powerful. Whether you are looking for physical healing, emotional healing, or a general realignment and recentering, I cannot recommend Christina enough.
