I suspected the issue was a failed capacitor in the outdoor unit, but I wanted a professional to confirm the diagnosis before replacing anything.<br><br>I'd had concerns about the pricing of the large HVAC/plumbing company I'd used in the past, so I decided to try AVS instead, since they appeared to be a smaller, family-owned business.<br>The technician, Bob, was excellent. He quickly confirmed that the capacitor had failed and replaced it . He was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient.<br><br>I'm giving four stars instead of five because of the pricing. Bob had to call the office to get the price for the part, and after (I assume) looking up my ZIP code, they quoted $429 for the service. Considering the replacement capacitor itself costs around $30 and the repair took about 15 minutes, the total felt excessive.<br><br>Overall, Bob earned five stars, but the pricing left a sour taste. Ironically, I suspect I wouldn't have paid any more with the larger company I was trying to avoid. Not sure I'll be back.”
