290 Division St Fl 2, San Francisco“Tracy is truly so amazing!
I used to see the gym as a huge challenge, but my goal to live my healthiest and best life really motivated me to get a personal trainer. Tracy is my angel! We chatted about my health goals, and she’s delivered. With Tracy’s guidance, training, and kind, fun demeanor, I’m now standing tall (literally) and so much stronger.“

350 Bay St, San Francisco“The coaches not only have amazing energy, but they actually know what they’re talking about and can coach you through every workout. If you haven’t tried F45 I absolutely recommend it. It has completely changed the way I think about working out.“

323 Octavia Street, San Francisco“Custom Fit has set a super high standard for gyms for me. They have created a well equipped gym with a great layout, a super welcoming vibe, kind and helpful trainers with a lot of knowledge, a regular schedule of daily workout classes, and the recovery room (infrared sauna and cold plunge) which I used all the time.
Vibe: I had never used a gym previously, and always felt intimidated from working out at a gym. Custom Fit changed that for me completely - I've always felt welcomed and comfortable, everyone is kind and helpful if you want assistance with form, and it never feels overwhelming or crowded. Not being crowded was a huge plus for me, I was never waiting for a machine, and people are nice about working in as needed. The environment alone was a big part for me in helping me to get in shape and make the gym my routine.
Trainers: All the trainers are happy to chat and work with you, if you just have a quick question or want to talk more in depth about anything. The trainers are each incredible at what they do and they will push you through a tailored program to help you reach your goals, and will still set you on the right path with the right workout program if you cannot continue working with them due to financial constraints. I started with a PT for 10 sessions, and she set me up with a great program to continue after I finished working with her. And afterwards I could still hit her up with questions, and I could easily ask other trainers questions about form, workouts, etc..
Equipment and Classes: The gym is well equipped across the different studios, I used the ones on Market as well as the main one on Octavia. You have all the standard machines, weights, as well as an area and equipment for agility. I used the recovery room all the time after nearly every workout, which I loved. And the classes and run club are run by the trainers, so you can still get time with an individual trainer to get to know them a bit better if you aren’t working with one. You can also have a quick chat with the nutritionists to get a better understanding of how to approach what you eat. Also - they have showers at least two locations, which you never need to wait for.
Other reviews have issue with the price - yes, it is pricier than other gyms, but you get a lot for what you pay for IMO. No crowds, great gym, classes, awesome trainers, recovery room, and showers.“

3729 Balboa St, San Francisco“A great community yoga studio with generous owners, welcoming staff and knowledgeable instructors who offer options for beginners as well as advanced students. I recently had a one hour massage and bodywork with Stephanie Logan. She’s a gentle, intuitive practitioner who tailored her approach to just what my body and spirit wanted.
Stephanie guided on a journey through my chakras with her gently touch and voice. During the session I could feel my body relaxing and energy that had been dammed in certain places beginning to connect and flow again. Trusting her was easy. The after effects of the release I felt continue to flow in me.“

second floor, 2275 Market St Ste d, San Francisco“I have been coming to this gym for almost 2 years now (long overdue review, I know). I love how inclusive it is - nobody hassles me, there are young and old, male and female, and lots of differing skill levels. It’s a refreshing change from some of the super specialized gyms, that can also often feel like a dating site. Thanks Castro Fitness. ❤“

1844 Market St, San Francisco“Been personal-training with Donnovan for a couple months now. I came in as a very skinny guy looking to regain + build new strength after years of circumstantial neglect, and he’s been great at adjusting pacing, introducing movements to learn to recruit dormant muscles, and keeping me progressing consistently on raw strength. He’s also fun to work out with, we usually yap about everything from music to AI agents to mental health and lifestyle.
The gym itself is also a nice environment - feels positive and wellness oriented. The perks (unlimited dexa scans, recovery room, etc) are nice too!“

3014 Clay St, San Francisco“I’ve really enjoyed working with Jibao. He listens carefully to my goals and designs workouts that push me while meeting me where I am. I appreciate his consistency, encouragement, and ability to adapt the program based on my needs. Since starting with him, I’ve felt stronger, healthier, and more confident in my fitness journey.“

1825 Market Street, San Francisco“Alex is no doubt the best trainer I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. He has gone above and beyond to help me achieve goals I never thought possible. I never thought I could look or feel like this. I don’t think I could’ve progressed this much on my own or with a lesser trainer. He is easy to talk to and is beyond helpful. His knowledge in this field is umatched, he has influenced a whole lifestyle change for the better. I can’t recommend him enough, I’d give 10 stars if I could.“

930 Cole St, San Francisco“A little over a year ago I re-tore my right ACL (3rd time’s a charm) and had a bucket handle tear on my medial meniscus that caused my knee to be stuck into a flexed position and made walking difficult. Due to the complexity of the situation, I had to have two separate surgeries 6 months apart from each other. One to stitch the meniscus back in place and to remove the old ACL graft, and the other to place the new ACL using my quad tendon, as well as fixing a slight tear in the same meniscus again.
It has now been six months post-op from the second surgery, and the results that I have gotten since training with Jack at ASP have been amazing. Jack’s programming design is so personalized, that he was able to create a program for me when I was non-weightbearing for 11 weeks. He incorporated exercises that replicated what would be done in PT, yet 1000x better. I was getting full body workouts that accommodated my non-weightbearing issue at the time, and was still able to get my lower body engaged and working with isometric exercises for my glutes and legs. When I went back in to see my surgeon for my 3 month check-up, he was shocked at how fast I was recovering and said that I was way ahead of any other patient he had seen in the past during the recovery period.
Another plus that I got from Jack’s training program was that he also uncovered a lot of other issues I was experiencing that I had not realized were part of a bigger issue and was (unknowingly on my part) affecting my day to day life: poor posture causing neck/upper back pain and spasms, low back pain that would cause me to have to take a break from standing because of how weak I was, and even how the phases in my menstrual cycle played a part in my physical well-being and mental health.
Now that I am sitting at six months post-op and only four and a half months back to weight bearing, I am back to running again, cleared to do plyometric work, cleared to go back to simple soccer drills on the field, and can even partake in agility cone drills with little to no knee pain. Overall, I feel so much stronger and feel a lot more confident going back to the field when that time comes. Plus, my back pain is pretty much non-existent and I can stand for hours on end with no issue or spasms. He had to point that out to me because I honestly forgot about the pain!
I can’t thank Jack enough for how much he has helped me through a time that was mentally and physically exhausting. It seriously has been life changing. If you are still on the fence about joining ASP, I would highly recommend just taking the leap and trying it out for yourself. If it was not for Jack and his expertise, I do not think I would be where I am right now if I was strictly just doing Physical Therapy. Looking forward to seeing how much further I can progress, thanks Jack!“
“An excellent rehab facility. It's easy to book appointments and the PTs are knowledgeable and focused helping the recovery process.“

201 King St, San Francisco“I’ve been going to flagship for a few weeks now after a brief hiatus from exercising. The workouts are challenging (and quite gruelling at times) but I’m enjoying them and settling nicely into the routines. Facilities and equipment are great and the coaches are fantastic - I really like their attention to form when doing lifts as well as targeted dynamic stretching before the workout starts.
I’d love for some time to be baked in for stretching/cool down out at the end of classes as I usually have to run on the hour.
Generally, it’s a great gym with great people (and doggos) and would recommend it to anyone!!“

Ricardo is an extremely attentive and remarkably knowledgeable trainer. I was new to lifting weights and he has made the process exciting, sustainable, safe, and challenging. I can’t recommend him enough!“

399 Laurel St Ste 7, San Francisco“I’ve been working with Justin for rehabilitation of my right adductor, where I’ve had pain and limited external rotation for several years now. I've tried chiropractors and PTs before but nothing helped longterm. After just five Redcord Pilates sessions with him, I’ve experienced a remarkable improvement — the pain has significantly reduced, and my mobility is now on par with my left leg.
Justin is extremely knowledgeable about the Redcord system and skilled at identifying and addressing the root cause of movement issues. His sessions are thoughtfully structured, and he takes the time to explain each exercise and its purpose. He also gave me targeted exercises to do at home and in the gym, which, combined with our sessions, have made a huge difference in my recovery.
I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with pain, imbalance, or looking to restore proper movement.“

286 Divisadero St, San Francisco“Love the instructor, & the room (Water), but even with 1 small window open, the temperature for a regular Yoga Flow (not heated) reads over 80 degrees on the thermostat (yikes), & I get waaay too overheated & dizzy. 😵💫 If that larger back door/window to the garden was open the whole class, I would continue to attend, but just too hot in there. :-/“

1235 4th St, San Francisco“I have been at Powerplay for almost 3 years now. I joined to have some guidance on building muscle and I feel much more confident in weightlifting now. I love how it’s a really supportive place for women! Daniel, Tiff and Jenn taught me a lot in the lift&flex class every week.
I also recently had a baby and it was great to have instructors that know how to modify for pregnancy. I went to classes all the way up to my due date!
I went to my first postnatal class today (cardio dance with Nan) and was able to bring my baby too. Kwanua has created an amazing community at Powerplay.“

He focuses on functional, full-body strength training and consistently introduces new exercises and routines to keep workouts engaging and effective. I especially appreciate that he teaches clients practical workouts they can do at home or while traveling, making it easier to stay consistent between sessions. Francisco is knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in his clients' success. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional personal trainer.“

425 Mission St Suite 212, San Francisco“Love this gym but this location is absolutely not worth coming to unless you're able to workout between 9am and 4pm otherwise this place is swamped with people. Other than that, this is probably the best gym in the city. Well, the front staff seem unfriendly. It has newer functionable equipment, towel service and the cleaning crew keeps this place spotless. It's also MASSIVE!!“
