It's the least intimidating workout space I've experienced and that in itself is worth 5 stars. “I have been to many gyms in my life and have had 3 other personal trainers, and 9Round with Dave and Ovi is hands-down the best I have ever been to! I usually have a hard time motivating myself to go to the gym but I look forward to my 9Round workouts every week. When you enter, everyone greets you warmly. While you work out, trainers and other gym-goers cheer you on and motivate you. When you leave, you're congratulated on a great workout and walk out of the door with a smile on your face. It truly is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Be ready to work, though! 9Round provides a high intensity, full body workout. They also offer body mapping and consultation, which has helped me orient my workout and weight loss goals. Dave also provides me with tons of nutrition tips and challenges that have made a huge difference for me! I truly cannot say enough good things about this gym, so sign up already!“

“Really great team here at Strong Island Fitness. They truly care about their clients and create a family-like atmosphere. For example, during my consultation session I was intro’d to another woman by name who was there for the first time.Highly recommend Julian as a Personal Trainer!!! He is thorough, compassionate and understands the body (he has a degree in kinesthesiology). He properly warms up his clients and talks them through the right way to do the exercises. He varies up the sessions so your body will get a good workout. Plus, he can talk and keep count - ha!Love the people and vibe here and highly recommend Strong Island Fitness for Personal Training as well as group classes.“

“I did six sessions with Dr Alice for a very mysterious and very painful sciatica-like syndrome in my leg. Alice was fantastic to work with and helped me a ton. She went at the problem very patiently and systematically,from several angles, and when we were finished the pain was about 90% gone - which was *huge*; I'd begun to feel downright cursed with pain - and I was now equipped with a whole battery of exercises and stretches to help me keep it away. So far they've worked great.“

“I joined Diakadi in the summer of 2021 and I have been working out with Dan Stahl ever since. Dan has done an amazing job of creating an exercise program that is tailored to my needs. The gym never feels crowded and the “open gym” hours are even less so. The equipment is well maintained and space is always clean. I have recommended Diakadi and Dan to everyone I know. “I have always hated going to the gym and working out but I love this place. Working out doesn't feel like a chore when you have Annie as a trainer. She is not only knowledgeable about movement, weights, and your body but she can work with your limitations (I started with a back injury). I also highly recommend her for the great conversation and recommendations for yummy food.If you're thinking of trying this place, do it! They have a 3 session package that is a great deal and then you will be hooked too.“

“After six years of trying out a half dozen private and big box gyms, and several strength-based group classes like F45 and Barry's, I can say without hesitation that the hype around Flagship is warranted. I saw my confidence and overall fitness soar over just five months of regular attendance. Kudos to the Flagship team for building such a fun, friendly, and inclusive space (their claim about having the friendliest coaches is true).It's also true that it's the most expensive fitness membership I've ever held, and Flagship's excellent coaches — Jon, Zach, Nikki, and Anaïs — and flexible memberships team have made it an *investment* worth every penny for me. Facilities are clean and well-maintained; personalized attention and safety has been central to every class I've attended.Dog-lovers would be well-advised to take Zach's morning classes, who also has impeccable class music selections :)“

“After injuring my shoulder shoveling snow while in the mountains during snowpocalyose last winter, I knew it was time to get my body back in shape. Enter, Bliss Fitness and Health! From the first Rebel Recess class that I took, I have never felt more comfortable (except for the burpees!!) or more welcomed into a fitness space. Really community oriented and they even have a non profit to provide free coaching to Oakland youth. Coach Jason and Pela and all the other trainers are knowledgeable and awesome to work with. “I never thought personal training was my kind of thing, then the pandemic hit. In 2021 I wanted to start doing oly lifts somewhere outside my living room, but with way more attention to technique than a large group setting. The search was daunting until I recognized Max! I knew Max long, long, ago from a gym far, far away (not really, it was in Oakland) We discussed my goals and he set me up with trainers for 30 minutes twice a week.Two years later, I can say with confidence that the whole crew is top notch. Every time I've had a session with a new-to-me trainer, I've come away with more knowledge and perspective on movements I was already pretty comfortable with. A lot can happen in 30 minutes!Max: the boss! First and foremost technique focused. I was apprehensive about barbell movements and he patiently adjusted the cues for me until it made sense. Also introduced me to squats and bench press. All the foundations, all the discipline.Dave: an absolute legend. Solid focus on full body strength and doing just enough for gains while ensuring I avoid injury. Loves deadlifts possibly more than I do.Mikkie: also loves deadlifts possibly more than I do, but gave me to different, yet complimentary, technique cues than the other trainers. She also made me a true believer for resistance band work to increase overall strength and mobility.Diante: I await the day I can train with him. Every week, I'm envying his incredibly creative work with his clients. Until then, he's my biggest booster and an invaluable source of nutrition information.And my current besties:Alysia: she's known me for years, so she knows precisely when I'm BSing and when to push me. Her steady guidance has seen me through PRs and also with resilience through injuries. She also has excellent taste in 90s music, shoulder bags, and ice cream.John: when he's not giving me absurd names for exercises I swear are made up, he's throwing a complex at me composed of movements I'll never remember. “Jill Harris is an amazing trainer, and her development of FitSprings takes exercise -- any kind of technique! -- to the next level and beyond. As someone who has studied ballet since childhood and practices yoga, working out on FitSprings lets me strengthen without being tight and heavy, and builds flexibility and my quick-twitch muscles while keeping my joints and muscles happy, healthy, and well-stimulated.
