“I have been to many gyms in my life and have had 3 other personal trainers, and 9Round with Dave and Ovi is hands-down the best I have ever been to! I usually have a hard time motivating myself to go to the gym but I look forward to my 9Round workouts every week. When you enter, everyone greets you warmly. While you work out, trainers and other gym-goers cheer you on and motivate you. When you leave, you're congratulated on a great workout and walk out of the door with a smile on your face. It truly is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Be ready to work, though! 9Round provides a high intensity, full body workout. They also offer body mapping and consultation, which has helped me orient my workout and weight loss goals. Dave also provides me with tons of nutrition tips and challenges that have made a huge difference for me! I truly cannot say enough good things about this gym, so sign up already!“

He made it so easy to understand which workouts were needed and what my form should be, especially since that was something I always had difficulty with. “Really great team here at Strong Island Fitness. They truly care about their clients and create a family-like atmosphere. For example, during my consultation session I was intro’d to another woman by name who was there for the first time.Highly recommend Julian as a Personal Trainer!!! He is thorough, compassionate and understands the body (he has a degree in kinesthesiology). He properly warms up his clients and talks them through the right way to do the exercises. He varies up the sessions so your body will get a good workout. Plus, he can talk and keep count - ha!Love the people and vibe here and highly recommend Strong Island Fitness for Personal Training as well as group classes.“

“Dr. Lin's semiprivate Muay Thai classes are a great experience. The studio is very well-maintained and clean, and he brings a great energy to instruction. What I mean by that is there's very little of the macho or overbearing energy that drove me away from martial arts after studying tae kwon do for 10 years when I was younger. The classes include a wide range of experience levels, and while he definitely challenges people to push their limits, it's never done in a demeaning or toxic way. Because of his additional knowledge in physical therapy, he's also very cognizant of limitations and dangers on the client's end and is accommodating to them. Lastly, he's great at communicating around scheduling and billing issues!“

“I love Custom Fit and working out with Moe. She has helped me regain strength and stability after a TKR. She is very supportive but also encourages me to move out of my comfort zone when it's appropriate. She's designed at home workouts for me as well. The studio is modern, clean and inclusive. “After six years of trying out a half dozen private and big box gyms, and several strength-based group classes like F45 and Barry's, I can say without hesitation that the hype around Flagship is warranted. I saw my confidence and overall fitness soar over just five months of regular attendance. Kudos to the Flagship team for building such a fun, friendly, and inclusive space (their claim about having the friendliest coaches is true).It's also true that it's the most expensive fitness membership I've ever held, and Flagship's excellent coaches — Jon, Zach, Nikki, and Anaïs — and flexible memberships team have made it an *investment* worth every penny for me. Facilities are clean and well-maintained; personalized attention and safety has been central to every class I've attended.Dog-lovers would be well-advised to take Zach's morning classes, who also has impeccable class music selections :)“

NICOLE GARLIT ** WHY I CAME IN: From the outside I look "fine" but I've been dealing with upper back and neck pain for about 15 years; I had back surgery which resulted in muscle spasms, been in two car accidents, commute to work about 5 hours in a car round-trip, and this all resulted to a lot of painful tightness in my upper back up to my neck. 2024 I made it my resolution to fix my back issues so I can continue my active lifestyle of biking, hiking, weight-lifting, backpacking, etc. My fittness goals this year are to fix my twisting squat, do a pull up, and get back my range of motion + posture. I am SO HAPPY to have Dr. Nicole Garlit in my corner! I booked using her website (www.NicoleGarlitPT.com) and that is where my exciting journey begins! DR. NICOLE GARLIT: Dr.Nicole Garlit is so well rounded - she's extremely thoughtful, thorough, and is focused on your goal. I have never been more carefully examined which also showed me how determine she was to finding the right next steps and treatment for me. I was worried about my range-of-motion so she even measured my movements and rechecked it at the end of our session. She gave me the BEST neck crack which felt so free-ing, even days later. I have been to many other Dr.s, Chrio's, Cupping/Reiki people lol, to find any kind of relief for my back but the exercises that Dr.Nicole Garlit assigned to me has truly made such a HUGE difference in my day-to-day. After the first night I did my exercises, I felt a big difference in my back the following day during my 5 hour commute to work + throughout my work day. She is a great listener, very passionate and intentional about her questions and treatment. If you go to her, you will feel cared for and leave not only with relief but also with the tools and new knowledge to continue your journey. She also has a new PT Instagram! @DrNicoleGarlit (attaching some awesome screenshots from there!) THE OFFICE: The space is so clean, modern, spacious and looks like a really nice personal gym. Towards the back leads to an open office area where your session/examination/treatment will take place. PARKING: The studio/office is right next door to a Core Power Studio. Parking was super easy as right across is a big parking lot (it's the parking lot behind Mijori Sushi) OVERALL: - I am sooo impressed with Dr. Nicole Garlit - You will receive a VERY well rounded experience consisting of a careful examination, treatment, and really helpful "homework" (aka exercises to keep doing at home) - I continue to feel more relief even days after my appointment - The studio space is so nice, clean, open, and modern! I was definitely eye-ing the In Body Machine haha - Lastly, I can't wait for my next visit with Dr. Nicole Garlit :-)“

“I began training with Abu in 2022 however our work together was cut short by a family tragedy. I came to him in October of 2023 with a specific goal in mind. I needed to get fit for a week of skiing in Canada planned for the last week of January 2024. Prior to getting started, Abu patiently listened as I explained that I was prepared to push myself to get in maximum shape. He outlined a program of skiing related exercises, gradually increasing the intensity, to have me peak for my trip. The compact facility is well equipped. His ability to explain and illustrate movements is extraordinary. I feel he intuitively senses the fine line between asking me for more and recognizing when I have reached exhaustion. He gave me routines to do between sessions with a caution to "not overtrain". The last month included three weeks of high volume rotations (strength, balance, agility, speed, etc.). The final week we tapered to the finish. When I boarded the plane the next day, I knew I was ready. Abu is incredibly knowledgeable and can be a stern taskmaster when needed. He is also warm, funny and welcoming. Training With Abu is a great joy! I highly recommend his services to anyone; from a person reengaging with fitness to dedicated athletes looking to move up to the Next Level.“

“I was a gym newbie who had the pleasure of working with Jason, who helped me bulk up a good 20+ pounds in the duration of our training together. I'm now more fit, energetic, motivated, and more confident and happy overall. Starting seeing results very quickly, in fact; my friends and family have noticed these changes which I couldn't be happier about.Jason is so knowledgeable in all angles of health and fitness and fosters a welcoming, accessible environment. He'll be able to work with you no matter your goals or experience level. I really appreciated him teaching me all about form and providing accommodations for some physical concerns of mine too -- eg helping navigate workouts with some tendonitis I have, and teaching me methods to deadlift comfortably with a shoulder that can sometimes act up from an injury years back. “Jill Harris is an amazing trainer, and her development of FitSprings takes exercise -- any kind of technique! -- to the next level and beyond. As someone who has studied ballet since childhood and practices yoga, working out on FitSprings lets me strengthen without being tight and heavy, and builds flexibility and my quick-twitch muscles while keeping my joints and muscles happy, healthy, and well-stimulated. (Never strained -- ever.) There isn't another workout that compares. I just attended Jill's teacher training this weekend, and the possibilities with this equipment are truly endless. I can't praise or recommend Jill Harris and FitSprings enough.“

Really community oriented and they even have a non profit to provide free coaching to Oakland youth. Coach Jason and Pela and all the other trainers are knowledgeable and awesome to work with. It's the least intimidating workout space I've experienced and that in itself is worth 5 stars. “I started my time at Powerform after having my second daughter in April 2023. As someone who has typically engaged in Pilates, the idea of weightlifting was intriguing but intimidating. Max, the owner, was quick to respond to my online inquiry and was able to set me up with two trainers- Mikkie and John. He took time to chat with me about my goals. Shout out to Max for his excellent communication and thought processes for connecting you with particular trainers. John - within seconds, I immediately felt comfortable with John. He always lays out the groundwork for you so you know what to expect. His warmups always get me motivated for what's to come. I love that he is so encouraging and always keeps me on my counts during reps. John is extremely personable, and I truly enjoy our conversations. Mikkie- she has refined my squat game like no other and has pushed me to lift more than I ever expected to. She pushes me in the best way and always gives me opportunities to excel. I truly enjoy her style of training. As a mother of two young children, working out at Powerform has been transformative, to say the least. This has been my time out of the day for myself both mentally and physically. After many years of aimless workouts, I finally feel like I know how to spend my time to get the results I want.
