5255 College Ave, Oakland“Highly recommend TNT! I came in intimidated by strength training, and now it's a core part of my weekly routine. Eric and Rikko are incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely fun to train with. The community is wonderful too — every time I'm in the gym, the vibe is supportive and positive. I also travel a lot, and they've been great about staying flexible, even doing virtual sessions when I'm on the road. Training with them has made a real difference in my overall fitness, mental health, and even my running and pickleball.“
“I won an auction for 3 Pilates reformer classes last year and I haven’t stopped going! I knew I had to start building strength for my health, but was having trouble motivating myself to go to the gym. Alison’s classes are fun and challenging. I can tell I’m so much stronger than I used to be.“
7AM - 8PM
420 14th St, Oakland“Calling Alison a fitness instructor or personal trainer isn't doing her justice. She's more like a fitness guru. Her scope of knowledge is vast and deep, encompassing an expertise in many training methods, injury rehab, and nutrition. She will take the time to fully understand where you are in your fitness narrative and figure out how to help you meet your goals. Even her group classes really accommodate the needs and levels of each individual. I've taken HIIT classes and large group pilates classes elsewhere and the quality of her instruction is on a completely different level. Before working with Alison, I had been feeling held back by injuries that were brought on by age and an imbalanced training routine. Working with her has helped me overcome that and feel empowered. She has a wonderful combination of being practical, challenging, and compassionate. She does a great job of cultivating community and connection in her group classes, which makes for a truly fun and motivating atmosphere. She's also a genuinely caring person who works hard to build up not just the people around her but Oakland as a whole.“

2650 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley“Lower back and hip pain were the reason I went to The Technique PT. Dr. Lin was able to directly address these issues and after several sessions the symptoms were either nearly or completely eliminated. He uses a range of therapies in his office paired with an easy to use web-based program of individual exercises.“

5515 Doyle St #5, Emeryville“Working with Carlos was great! He guided me through an intense yet timely and safe workout. He was engaged throughout the duration of the visit with great reminders and cues for each exercise, or when my form started to dip. If you are looking for a tough/intense training session but are on the go, this 30 minute train until failure safely model will give you that experience and Carlos is the right person to guide you through it.“
6AM - 5PM
3831 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland“It took my partner and me a while to get back into a gym routine, but I’m so glad we chose Body Mechanix. I initially felt overwhelmed—especially with weights and equipment we weren’t familiar with—but Minh made all the difference. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and does a great job breaking everything down step by step, which helped us build confidence, strength, and consistency.
The gym itself has a welcoming, supportive community and excellent trainers. I highly recommend Body Mechanix whether you’re brand new to the gym or more experienced—you’ll feel comfortable and supported either way.“
7AM - 1PM
1440 University Ave, Berkeley“I love this place. For myself I have become so much stronger in a great and welcoming environment. The people! The community! It's a special place, it truly is. You're here to get stronger and do that in the midst of wonderful people who will support you all the way. And they mean what they say. Always! I love that.“

1630 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill“One of the best workouts I’ve had in years. The balance between cardio and strength is nearly perfect, and the movements are thoughtfully designed for intermediate to advanced fitness levels. The class moves at a fast pace, but it’s very approachable since each workout offers both regressions and progressions, making it accessible no matter where you’re starting from. On top of that, the community is incredibly welcoming and supportive. Highly recommend!“

Every day is a different workout and it's all planned out for you. No more than 9 people working out at any time. I've been a member for years and I can't imagine going anywhere else. TEN STARS!“

4268 Broadway, Oakland“Bliss has been a staple in my life since 2019, when I joined to add more movement, build strength, and de-stress. Before Bliss, I belonged to a larger gym chain that felt impersonal and intimidating. The people at Bliss work to provide an antithesis to stereotypical gyms; it’s a people-centered, supportive space that makes fitness welcoming and enjoyable!“
5AM - 11PM
2341 San Pablo Ave, Oakland“Get Bent is my favorite gym in the East Bay! The coaches/owners Jason and Pela truly care about the community and your development as a lifter. They host the best events and have options for everyone including classes for beginners as well as private coaching for advanced powerlifters. Check it out!“

399 Grand Ave, Oakland“I've worked with Jordan on and off for the past 4 years and I still always look forward to my sessions with him each week. Jordan is thoughtful, creative and embodies the perfect balance between being both your cheerleader and a coach that encourages you to challenge yourself. This past year specifically, Jordan has helped me prepare for three half marathons while staying injury-free and improving my pace/mile. If you've never lifted heavy weights before and or think that you're not a 'gym person' (I fell into both of those categories initially), Jordan is the trainer for you. He's the best and I'm so happy that our paths crossed.“
8AM - 2PM
1601 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley“Highly recommend this gym! The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming, which makes a great first impression. The workout areas are well organized and thoughtfully laid out, and the overall atmosphere is motivating and pleasant. I also really appreciate the small details — they even provide hair ties for members to use, which is very thoughtful. Overall, a great gym with a great vibe!“

1820 N Broadway, Walnut Creek“This gym is so special! Highly recommend it! Lauren, the owner, has created something truly unique with a great community and effective workout moves. Everyday you work out a different part of your body and every week things change. You don’t have to worry about anything nor can’t get bored because everything changes weekly. You just need to show up and they work their magic. Big shoutout to Tony, Jason and Kahlia who are amazing coaches. Highly recommend taking their classes! I have tried many gyms in my life and can say with certainty that this one stands out. It’s amazing!“

2424 Blanding Ave, Alameda“I can’t say enough good things about Gracie JiuJitsu! It’s been incredible for my 7 year old-for her confidence and strength, and knowing how to de-escalate a situation. And also knowing how to defend herself if necessary. We’re excited for our 5 year old to join soon as well.
I genuinely think that every kid (well, any person, honestly) would benefit from and enjoy Gracie JiuJitsu. I even did a self-defense class this past weekend and it was so fun, and the information was invaluable.
My husband also practices here, and appreciates their attentive and thoughtful approach, so he can practice for years to come.
The whole family has found a beautiful community here and we cannot sing their praises high enough!
Special shoutout to Chelsea, Mark, Brad, and Akiana, for bringing so much heart and energy to the gym.“

3241 Grand Ave, Oakland“I worked with Jonathan for months. He really helped me learn how to activate and use my muscles correctly. In doing so, has cut down on my fairly regular pain and fatigue sitting all day as well as safely pursuing my new fitness hobbies. He noticed things that I never even mentioned, but knew felt “off.” I never thought I’d work out with a trainer, and only did so at the recommendation of my boyfriend who also saw him. Jonathan is kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. He is not a stereotypical bro that I admittedly feared.“

7:30AM - 7PM
6350 San Pablo Dam Rd, El Sobrante“I can’t believe someone would actually give this place less than a five star review.
I’ve been in El Sobrante resident my whole life and this Club has been the most awesome exercise club I’ve ever been to.
They’ve made it through recession. They made it through Covid. Busted their butts, keeping everything clean and up-to-date. They have done a lot of updates, but you have to be a member for quite a while to understand what they actually do.
With that said it’s plain and simple.
If you don’t want an awesome weight room.
If you don’t want a swimming pool
If you don’t want a hot tub
If you don’t want a bocce ball court.
If you don’t want a tennis court
If you don’t want a sauna
If you don’t want a steam room
If you don’t want to take a shower and use their soap and all their amenities.
If you don’t want a private area that holds events and has barbecues at times.
If you don’t want access to trainers.
Then it’s clear go somewhere else.
I would give this place more than five stars if I could Bruce and staff do everything they can’t keep it up And do a very nice job at it. This is an awesome business. You get what you pay for..
Oh, and one more thing yes they do have a contract and you sign it when you sign up. They automatically take it out of your bank account. If you want to cancel the contract yes there is a fee however, if you want to put it on pause. There’s a very small fee until you want to come back or till contract runs out .. Thank you, Lake Ridge.
I think for what you get their pricing is very fair considering the cost of insurances and the cost of running a business nowadays. Once again, thank you Lake Ridge appreciate the Nice and clean place to come visit“

2450 Otis Dr, Alameda“I highly recommend Michael as a personal trainer, especially if you are older and have injuries. He is very thoughtful with his choice of routines and listens to you if you need to change things up. I am definitely on the right path with his mindful approach and encourage you to give him a try!“
7AM - 7PM
10950 International Blvd, Oakland“I honestly was very skeptical and anxious about joining this gym knowing the way Oakland is. But to my surprise, it has a very pleasant atmosphere without any loud obnoxious activity and the equipment is well maintained. There seems to be no loud music at all which is great. It also is very clean, which matters a lot when it comes to joining a gym. The parking lot is very safe and clean, which is very pleasing so I don’t have to worry about any theft or break-ins. Overall it is a very nice and safe gym. I give huge appreciation to the owner and the manager for Making this gym very welcoming and pleasant for everyone.
I just hope it continues to stay this way.“
“Great Veteran tournament! Well lit facility, clean, grounded strips, and good referees. Did not have a great result fencing the ' boys' but the venue is great. Kudos to Abdul for the recent upgrades in the space❣“
