BODYROK POLK Pilates

“Cardio Sculpt Class Review, Monday Nov 10 at 3:30 PM**

I took a Cardio Sculpt class today at BodyRok’s Polk Street location, and I have to say—this substitute instructor was *fantastic*. From the first few minutes, my heart rate was up and the sweat was real. The cardio was sustained all the way through, and the sculpting was no joke—I felt the burn in my core, arms, and legs. This class delivered exactly what it promised: high-intensity sculpting with nonstop movement.

What really impressed me was the instructor’s attention to detail and care. Early in the class, she noticed that I and the person next to me had done an exercise on the wrong side of the body. Not only did she flag it in the moment, but later—when we repeated the move—she *remembered* and reminded us to switch sides. That kind of attentiveness is rare and deeply appreciated.

She also walked the room consistently, checking form and making sure everyone was moving safely and correctly. Her cues were clear, her energy was motivating, and she kept us informed throughout: how many sets were left, how much time remained, and how hard we should be pushing. That structure helped me stay focused and push harder, especially in the second half of class when fatigue starts to creep in.

BodyRok Polk Street continues to impress, and today’s class was a reminder that even a substitute instructor can bring excellence, precision, and care. I left feeling strong, sweaty, and grateful.“

Pilates With Jenise Pilates

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jenise Is the Pilates Wizard I Didn’t Know I Needed

If you’re looking for a Pilates instructor who will fix your posture, strengthen your core, and gently roast you into becoming a better human, Jenise is your girl. I swear she has X‑ray vision , she can spot a wobbly hip or a lazy rib from across the room like some kind of alignment detective.

Before Jenise, my “core” was basically decorative. Now? I sneeze and feel muscles I didn’t know existed. My body is stronger, taller, and slightly terrified of her plank variations, which is exactly the energy I was hoping for.

Her classes are the perfect mix of “I’m dying” and “Wow, I’m amazing.” She somehow makes you laugh while also making you question every life choice that led you to this hundred‑series. And the wild part is… you keep coming back because it works.

If you want real results, real laughs, and an instructor who will lovingly bully your body into greatness, Jenise is the one. My spine is straighter, my abs are louder, and my confidence is thriving.“

Rebalanced SF Pilates & Strength Training Pilates

“I’ve been working with Justin for rehabilitation of my right adductor, where I’ve had pain and limited external rotation for several years now. I've tried chiropractors and PTs before but nothing helped longterm. After just five Redcord Pilates sessions with him, I’ve experienced a remarkable improvement — the pain has significantly reduced, and my mobility is now on par with my left leg.

Justin is extremely knowledgeable about the Redcord system and skilled at identifying and addressing the root cause of movement issues. His sessions are thoughtfully structured, and he takes the time to explain each exercise and its purpose. He also gave me targeted exercises to do at home and in the gym, which, combined with our sessions, have made a huge difference in my recovery.

I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with pain, imbalance, or looking to restore proper movement.“

CORE MVMT Pilates

“COREMVMT in The Castro is a sweet little Pilates cult, and I’m proud to be a card carrying member. Lisa, the owner, is basically a community-building wizard — warm, welcoming, and somehow knows everyone’s name.

Heather serves throwback R&B and a slow, controlled burn that feels spiritual.
Coach Tommy is a pop queen disguised as an instructor — you’ll beg for mercy while Britney cheers you on.
Cat brings Saturday sunshine and “torture but make it friendly” energy.

If you want strong abs, good people, and playlists that heal childhood wounds, this is your spot. Pilates, but make it Castro.“

The Pilates School SF Pilates

“This online and in-person studio healed my body and spirit in ways no one else could:

I'd like to thank all the teachers for hard-but-fun pilates, cardio, and weightlifting classes, keeping me aligned, and healing me in ways I didn't think pilates could. Surprise! Studies show that people heal faster when they feel the healer genuinely wants them to heal. That's why I healed at Pilates School San Francisco.

It's different from other pilates studios I've been to because they:
- Make private and small pilates classes more affordable, size-diverse, BIPOC and LBGTQIA-friendly and welcoming to people of all abilities.
- Are funny!
- Talk about your back behind your back. They write down how to best work with your body.
- Host fun events with food so teachers and students can get to know each other outside of class.
- Give gentle, consensual, hands-on corrections and notice asymmetry in my body to help me be more self-aware when I sit, stand, and move.
- Spend more time trying to heal me than my healthcare insurance providers can.“

“I loved working with Patti at Raven! As someone recovering from chronic back pain, having someone super hands-on with form is a big deal for me, and Patti was amazing. I always felt really safe and confident in her sessions, knowing I wouldn’t hurt myself again. Plus, I felt myself getting stronger since she made sure I was using the right muscles.

The studio is nice—quiet, clean, and just you and your instructor during privates so it's easy to focus. Since moving away from SF, this is one of the things I miss the most. I even tried a new studio, and during my intro session, they were blown away by how much I knew! They kept asking where I trained and for how long. Honestly, that’s all thanks to Patti. She’s the best!“

“The Pad is a great studio! I like it because it is close to my house, parking is relatively easy and they offer many different classes everyday. I feel like post-covid, many yoga studios only offer a couple of classes a day and I appreciate having more options. It is a very calm and relaxing environment and folks of all levels are welcomed and challenged. The teachers range from very good to really freakin' awesome - there are a couple who clearly know their stuff and have a lot of experience to share.“

Sisters in Motion - Licensed S Factor Studio Pilates

“Sisters in Motion has completely changed my life.

This isn’t just a dance studio, it’s a space where I’ve reconnected with my body, built real strength, and found a supportive, inspiring community of women. I was initially nervous to try something new, but from the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, encouraged, and completely free to show up exactly as I am.

The classes are an amazing mix of movement, music, and empowerment. Whether it’s sensual flow, strength-based conditioning, or something more expressive and emotional, every class offers something unique. You get a real workout, but more than that, you leave feeling grounded, energized, and more connected to yourself.

The instructors are phenomenal, skilled, kind, and genuinely invested in your growth. They create a space that’s inclusive, non-judgmental, and FUN. I’ve seen huge shifts in both my physical strength and my confidence since starting here.

If you’re looking for a place to move, heal, grow, and be in community with other powerful women, I can’t recommend Sisters in Motion enough. It’s become a vital part of my life and well-being.“

“I love this studio! I’ve been taking classes here for over 10 years. Classes tend to be very small (usually 3-6 people) and the instructors pay close attention and make suggestions as needed. This isn’t a cardio class. Classes focus on flexibility, strength, alignment, posture.

They have classes throughout the day which is great for me and there’s a good mix of mat, reformer, core-align, chair. I have also done one-on-one when I was recovering from an injury and had great results.“

“I went to Mike for chronic pain due to a fussed ankle. The pain had been intermittent over the years. However, recently it had become consistent and interfered with my quality of life. I saw several doctors and none could see a physical reason for the pain. When I walked into Mike’s studio, he immediately saw the problem. In one session he rendered me pain free! It has now been three days and I am able to take long walks with my wife. Before I saw Mike I couldn’t go half a block without pain. Also I’m walking more balanced. Now, as a senior citizen, l feel more steady on my feet.“

Jack and Jill Pilates Pilates

“I came to Pilates with some hesitation – I had never tried it before and honestly thought it was “something for women.” I decided to give it a shot while going through chemo, when I was bedridden and looking for a way to rebuild strength. Over the course of more than twenty private sessions with Evan, she has helped me regain strength in my legs and the rest of my body during treatment and into remission. It’s challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, improved my posture, and given me a whole new appreciation for this form of exercise.

Evan is a real character in the best possible way. She’s done her homework to understand my condition and my limitations, and she always knows exactly how far to push me. Her adjustments are spot on – sometimes she’ll have me tweak the tiniest movement and suddenly an entirely new muscle lights up. On top of that, she’s sharp, funny, and wonderfully direct. She remembers little details from weeks earlier, isn’t afraid to be a smart-ass, and can go on rants that are both hilarious and wise. If you’re open to her sense of humor (and sometimes a little bit of colorful language), you’ll enjoy the sessions even more.

With her background as a dancer and stuntwoman, Evan brings a unique perspective and depth of experience to her teaching. The studio itself is no-frills – which I see as a plus. It’s not about chasing a “scene,” it’s about learning from someone who’s a true expert in Pilates and anatomy.

I can’t recommend Evan and Jack and Jill Pilates enough, especially if you’re serious about building strength and want someone who really knows what they’re doing.“

They keep every class engaging and fun. I always leave feeling stronger and more balanced. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a consistent, effective, and supportive workout community!“

“I got a month unlimited voucher from Groupon. I just wanted to give it a try. The result is that I fell in love with this place. I have taken four classes with three different instructors. They are all very friendly and helpful. They emphasize a sense of community and push us to go further. The place is not big, but they have showers, closets, a water fountain, and some resting benches. The room is not too big, and sometimes it will get crowded over the weekends, but people here are friendly and willing to move around for you. I am committed to doing it. Let's go.“
