She’s a positive force and the ultimate hype woman. Her studio is a welcoming space for whatever I have going on, whether my kids tag along, my pup or my sleep deprived cranky energy is with following me around. I leave class lighter, straighter and filled with more self love. And results!!! Always fun with your husband, your colleagues and your mom start noticing your posture and/or your new booty! 1738 Polk St, San Francisco“I loved working with Patti at Raven! As someone recovering from chronic back pain, having someone super hands-on with form is a big deal for me, and Patti was amazing. I always felt really safe and confident in her sessions, knowing I wouldn’t hurt myself again. Plus, I felt myself getting stronger since she made sure I was using the right muscles.
The studio is nice—quiet, clean, and just you and your instructor during privates so it's easy to focus. Since moving away from SF, this is one of the things I miss the most. I even tried a new studio, and during my intro session, they were blown away by how much I knew! They kept asking where I trained and for how long. Honestly, that’s all thanks to Patti. She’s the best!“

2652 McAllister St, San Francisco“I took my first Pilates class more than 20 years ago, but was never able to afford more than one lesson per week in the Private model, and I always found classes to be too generic. I have dreamt of being able to find a place where I could truly learn the exercises, and The Pilates School SF is that place. I started in January of 2023 and I am forever grateful for my journey here. I have no more back pain, and have uncovered and resolved pain that was so deep inside my body, I didn't even notice it until it was gone. I have gone from feeling like I wish I knew what I was doing to being confident that I not only know what I am doing, but I know why I am doing it. I can do any exercises they put on me, and I can also design my own workouts based on what my body needs. It is incredible to know myself so well and to be able to trust myself. In addition to the Pilates, the people here are incredible. Yes, the instructors are awesome, but so are the clients. I love my classmates and feel so supported and happy whenever I am at the school. This is the best Classical Pilates in the city, and it is so affordable.“

351 Shotwell St, San Francisco“After some research I waited for an assessment with Miquel & so that I can learn the proper foundations of Pilates I booked a few sessions with him to reap the full benefits. Now I have a glimpse of what Pilates is correctly (as the last time I trialed this with someone else it was not this in depth or thorough) - so it’s very core and proper form focused so that you can learn how to maneuver your body towards a pain/injury free life. I come from a mild running and strength training background so I am learning how difficult, different and how beneficial Pilates can be. I do wish I found this place sooner during my stay in the bay but none the less ever so thankful to have found them at all. A hidden gem in SF & highly recommend for anyone dealing with physical impairments needing to learn how to reset your body.“

9 Clement St, San Francisco“I had bad pain down the back of my legs and especially behind my knees. I spent a year going to doctors and to their referrals for neurology tests, MRIs, sonograms, x-rays, blood work-ups, back specialists, PT and acupuncture. Nothing helped and they could not determine what was causing the pain. I finally gave up on them and went to see Mike. He spent the time to ask me questions and analyzed my walk and posture. He worked with me on different exercises which I continue to perform daily. Within 6 sessions my pain was gone. It's been three months, and I feel great. I had spent a miserable year with pain and Mike was the only one who asked the right questions and listened when I described the pain and when I would feel it the most. I am finally able to stand and cook without pain; I can sleep through the night and again enjoy doing things I had stopped participating in due to the discomfort. Thank you, Mike!“

698 Vermont St, San Francisco“Sonya is an ace. I'd recommend working with her to anyone who is lucky enough to have the chance.I've been Sonya's student since 2019 and treat my time with Sonya as a self-care gift I give myself. I not only learn to move better physically but also become more appreciative and increasingly aware of how my body moves.I find Sonya to be an incredibly knowledgeable teacher who can break down parts of a movement to micro details that help you see simple exercises in new, eye-opening ways. For example, Sonya's instructions on how to do a simple bridge exercise are so detailed and systematic that I can now be attentive to the groups of muscles I engage in each step of doing a bridge including how and when to breathe. So when I do it on my own, I know I can do a bridge correctly and mindfully. This example may sound very simple, but the value to me is that even the basic and possibly mundane exercises become mindful movements that I understand and enjoy. And with that, I am more likely to keep exercising. As Sonya’s student I have never felt pushed to do things I may not want to or be ready for. She checks in with me every time and thoughtfully designs the session to work with me where I am that day. At the same time, she can be very tough in teaching me how to do the exercises correctly. She will relentlessly explain in different ways to make sure I get it. It’s easy to see she is passionate about what she teaches and cares a great deal about her students’ learning.Sonya’s a great teacher and it is my privilege to learn from her.“

1694 Union St, San Francisco“The Pad is a great studio! I like it because it is close to my house, parking is relatively easy and they offer many different classes everyday. I feel like post-covid, many yoga studios only offer a couple of classes a day and I appreciate having more options. It is a very calm and relaxing environment and folks of all levels are welcomed and challenged. The teachers range from very good to really freakin' awesome - there are a couple who clearly know their stuff and have a lot of experience to share.“

CLASSES ONLINE ONLY, 8 Dolores Terrace, San Francisco“Overall a fine stay. I came during off-season, so there weren't a lot of guests there besides me. I'm sure the place is buzzing during tourist season.Room for improvement: Staff communication in English (though I could always get help from the 2-3 English-speaking staff via Whatsapp). Also there were some celebrations from nearby retreats that caused a bit of noise in the evenings, but this was nobody's fault.Great: 3 teachers (Shubham, Neeraj & Tilak), excursions, location near river and mountainside, tasty food, retreat environment.“

569 Ruger St, San Francisco“I take Pilates classes with my friend Sarah here. She is a good certified instructor and one of the few black women teaching Pilates in the city. Only thing worth mentioning is this is a silent studio, so no music and vibes but you will get in a great workout! Another plus is it’s in the Presidio so you can go for a walk with views of the Bay Bridge before or after your workout.“

1850 Polk St, San Francisco“Cardio Sculpt Class Review, Monday Nov 10 at 3:30 PM**
I took a Cardio Sculpt class today at BodyRok’s Polk Street location, and I have to say—this substitute instructor was *fantastic*. From the first few minutes, my heart rate was up and the sweat was real. The cardio was sustained all the way through, and the sculpting was no joke—I felt the burn in my core, arms, and legs. This class delivered exactly what it promised: high-intensity sculpting with nonstop movement.
What really impressed me was the instructor’s attention to detail and care. Early in the class, she noticed that I and the person next to me had done an exercise on the wrong side of the body. Not only did she flag it in the moment, but later—when we repeated the move—she *remembered* and reminded us to switch sides. That kind of attentiveness is rare and deeply appreciated.
She also walked the room consistently, checking form and making sure everyone was moving safely and correctly. Her cues were clear, her energy was motivating, and she kept us informed throughout: how many sets were left, how much time remained, and how hard we should be pushing. That structure helped me stay focused and push harder, especially in the second half of class when fatigue starts to creep in.
BodyRok Polk Street continues to impress, and today’s class was a reminder that even a substitute instructor can bring excellence, precision, and care. I left feeling strong, sweaty, and grateful.“
“I’ve been attending classes here for at least eight months and I really recommend it. The space is clean, the instructors are great (my fav is Cat) and the workout itself is intense. Well worth the price of the class!“
