Eric and Rikko are incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely fun to train with. The community is wonderful too — every time I'm in the gym, the vibe is supportive and positive. I also travel a lot, and they've been great about staying flexible, even doing virtual sessions when I'm on the road. Training with them has made a real difference in my overall fitness, mental health, and even my running and pickleball.“

2650 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley“Rob Lin is an exceptional physical therapist. Rob and his entire team are patient and welcoming, and his 1-on-1 work is phenomenal. If you have the option, I cannot recommend The Technique enough. I knew when I signed up that working with him would be an investment, and it is one I am so glad I made.
I came in with an injury that I have been struggling with for 4 months. I had been seeing another PT but I had repeated setbacks during my recovery. I was in consistent pain and I wasn’t improving.
In 3 weeks or so, Rob has gotten me to a place where I can function again and even push my physical limits. He is kind, reassuring, and his hands-on work has consistently made an obvious impact. Immediately after getting off the table, I feel less pain and improved stability that last. His work on me has allowed me to push further during session and during at-home exercises, which he’s tailored based on my feedback.
TLDR: I’ve already recommended Rob and The Technique PT to friends struggling with injuries and would urge anyone to book a free in-person consultation. Rob is amazing and I look forward to every session. I can’t thank him and his team enough.

1440 University Ave, Berkeley“Reading the other reviews, I can second all of them. I'd just add that as a woman in her late 60s I feel totally comfortable here. The coaches take everyone seriously and I have never felt talked down to, as can happen in some gyms. There is a lovely balance of serious lifting and socializing between lifts. It has been very fun getting to know people of all ages and life paths I might not have had the chance to meet in the rest of my everyday life. Whether you are a long term, serious lifter, or someone who has never lifted but keeps hearing you probably should (yes I'm especially talking to you my fellow "mature" women) check them out. You will not regret it.“

I love that the foundation of this work is rooted in a philosophy that emphasizes slowness, deep presence and muscle fatigue instead of number of reps. Their resistance training is designed to meet you wherever you're at and consistently challenge you to find the next edge. These folks really care about their craft and their culture really motivated me to give it my best -- highly recommend working with them!“

948 San Pablo Ave, Albany“Ann Michelle Ongerth, Clincal Director, and her staff have been instrumental in supporting my 22 year old college student with her recovery from a winter break ACL knee surgery. She had only 3-weeks to get strong enough post surgery to return to campus for the next quarter and be independent enough to get around mostly on her own. Ucla is a hilly campus with very limited parking so this seemed like a daunting goal, but with Albany Physical Therapy’s expert guidance and treatment, she was able to meet this goal! I can’t express my gratitude strongly enough for Ann Michelle and the staff as a mother, knowing my daughter is now stable enough and ready to return to school to continue her healing journey. My daughter entered in extreme pain and after only two weeks is able to exercise and move on her own. The staff have been so caring and prioritized getting her appointments because they saw how much she needed them. The most effective, supportive, thoughtful, and fun physical therapy you could hope for!“

The teachers are fantastic; the space is gorgeous; and most importantly after every class I feel euphoric, strong, and, dare I say, filled with bliss.“

“I was a client of Powerform for about 8 months and couldn't be happier with my experience! The facilities are clean, and the supportive atmosphere kept me motivated while I was in the midst of a workout rut. What stood out to me the most was the thoughtful programming of workouts to help me reach my fitness goals.
Each session was designed to target relevant muscle groups while incorporating proper form and technique, which was crucial for my progress and reduced risk for injury. With access to a variety of strength training equipment and expertise from the coaches, I was able to significantly improve my upper body strength. I achieved my goals of increasing my bench press and completing a pull-up — something I once thought was out of reach!

The only thing that bothers me is there tends to be a number of people who sit on limited equipment and play with their phones for inordinate amounts of time. And NO they are not resting between sets. It probably happens at a lot of gyms.“

“I joined San Pablo Planet Fitness about a month ago and recently decided to try the Total Body Enhancement machine for red light therapy. After my session, I didn’t realize I had accidentally left one of my earbuds in the room. When I went back, the room was already in use.
Vanessa immediately stepped in and told me to leave my name and number. She assured me she would check the room as soon as it was available and give me a call. Not long after I left the gym, Vanessa called to let me know she had found my earbud and was keeping it safely at the front desk for me.
Her kindness, follow-through, and genuine thoughtfulness truly made my day. She went out of her way to help me, and while she had no idea what I’ve been dealing with personally, her care and attentiveness meant more than she probably realizes. Moments like this restore my faith in people.
