I had my hair braided recently at SGS and they did a fantastic job. Byrisha was the stylist that did my hair and she was great. This is only my second time getting my hair braided and both she and Tina, the owner, were very good about answering all of my questions. The location is perfect, right there at South Shore, so it's easy to get to with plenty of parking. The salon space was comfortable and they were always checking in to see if I wanted anything to drink or snack on. I love having such a convenient spot to get my hair braided. I received so many compliments about my hair. Great job Sweet Growth!!
We have had an on and off rat problem over the past couple of years. Marichal quickly took care of that. He also handled the proofing where they had been accessing our property. Overall Marichal was professional, timely, and thorough. It was definitely a pleasure having him on the job. His pricing is very reasonable as well. We had several estimates of the job prior to hiring him. The others were literally thousands of dollars more. And he was able to take care of the job at a fraction of those other estimates. I couldn't recommend Marichal more for any rat issues you may have!
Best haircut experience I’ve had! I’ve always felt a bit intimidated in salons, though over the years I’ve gotten better at communicating what I’m looking for. But working with Juwan was so delightful and easy. They did an amazing job setting me at ease and hearing out my preferences. I absolutely loved their approach—warm, welcoming, and generous, paired with wonderful skill and expertise. Cannot recommend enough!

I brought in a few items that needed alterations/repairs. One coat needed new lining, one needed to have some loose threads and separating layers fixed, and lastly a pair of dress pants that were too big. To say the results were phenomenal would be an understatement. Best fitting pants I’ve ever had. Will definitely return

I used to go to a traditional barbershop but then I grew my hair out during the pandemic. Jenene helped me look good with longer hair and now every time I get a fresh cut by her I get compliments from my friends and family. The experience of getting a haircut from Jenene is also fun.

Chelsea gave me an amazing curly cut. She completely transformed my curls and gave me a much needed reshape. I have always had a hard time managing/styling my 3C hair to the point where I just wear it in a bun daily. She was super helpful and patient in answering all of my questions about haircare, maintenance, products, etc. She gave me the confidence to finally wear my hair down and experiment with new styles. So far, I have been using the Innersense shampoo and conditioner she recommended and that alone has made a HUGE difference, I can't wait to try the styling products. I wish I would have done this much sooner in life, beyond worth it!
I booked Cindy for a haircut and I am very happy about the result. She knows Asian hair very well, she layers my hair very nicely and gives me a curtain bang as I ask for. She is sweet, polite, efficient and punctual.

First time ever going into a barber shop and such a cool vibe. The interior is really warm and welcoming and the staff is really friendly. Loved all the sports talk in there and enjoyed the vibes and of course, the fresh fade.
Clean shop with a slight balm of a gentleman's talc set to a good atmosphere with a modern kinda vibe. Some cool lookin' rustic tools of the trade on display, along with tasteful homages to the ones who paved the way for these professionals to do their business of keepin' certain heathens like myself somewhat civilized. You too if you dig the 6 handshake/separation thing. I wonder... Anyhow, awesome customer service with some straight hella cool, chill dudes who are masters of their craft. Small shop requiring appointment scheduling in advance so keep that in mind and you shall be rewarded with some great lookin' hair.

She offers different types of services for your nails always has the best in products she takes care of your nails and gives you exactly what your looking for. By chance I was walking by and decided to see whether they took walk-ins, and I'm glad I did! Lynn was super friendly, she did a great job on my nails, and she gave me a gel manicure at a really great price. I'll definitely be coming back!

I have been going to many local nail salons where I live for pedicures and have been disappointed in everyone. I feel I pay ridiculous amounts of money for fancy chairs, decor, hot rocks, rose petals and champagne, etc. Not that I do not enjoy those things but what I want is quality work. I need pedicure to not only have cute toes but to keep my feet healthy and free from excessive callus growth and cracking. Other shops are revolving people as fast as they can but Nancy at Elegant Nails really worked on my issues. I just had a pedicure and it was absolutely amazing work. She is solo in her shop and is open by appointment only. If you leave her a message she will call back immediately. You are not going get the bells and whistles of other shops but you will get quality work and great care.
Small and family owned. We were served with kindness and attention. I will go back because I felt at ease!
I booked a same-day service for a builder gel manicure, and I’m thrilled with the results! Nhi was absolutely amazing, taking her time to create a gorgeous manicure for me. And to top it off, there even gave me a relaxing shoulder massage. It was a total pampering experience!

My ASD son loathes haircuts - change is hard. He also has insanely thick curly hair that hadn’t been cut in nearly a year. Rebecca worked wonders and gave him a cut that suits his face and makes him look his age, rather than years younger. I won’t say he didn’t need a minute to adjust to the change, but hours later he loves the cut and feels confident to start school.

I got a perm done by Nelly! She took great care of me and walked me through the whole process of what it is like to have permed hair. She was very knowledgeable in how to properly care for it and she gave me all the tips I needed to know! Nelly gave my hair layers and a trim then we proceeded to get the perm done. It came out great and it looks very close to the reference photos I showed her! I would most definitely recommend ⭐️
I had a lovely first appointment with Jessica Cowart. I get a pretty basic cut (basically I just get the ends of my long hair tapered). She was attentive to my pre-appointment notes and in-studio requests, and I'm super happy with the cut she gave me! Plus she was very friendly and pleasant to chat with. Studio is small and whimsical, loved the atmosphere.

She is a skin master and spa magician with all the best tools, techniques, and technology in her bag! She is so knowledgeable and I have done every treatment with her from monthly facials, to deep peels, to slimming infrared sudatonic body wraps! Her space is so warm and intimate. Her energy is calm and honest. I would pick a spa day at Vita's Studio over any Treatment you would find in SF or Sonoma! Vita is in demand so prepare to book a few weeks/months in advance. While attempting to modify my irrigation system, I ended up breaking the heavily corroded old galvanized line to my house. I was able to patch it but needed a professional fix quickly. Angel from Big Brothers plumbing came out the very next morning, provided me a reasonable estimate, and started the work that same day. And when it turned out they didn’t need to replace some of the pipe that had been earmarked for replacement, Angel was honest about it and saved me a couple thousand dollars. That kind of integrity you don’t see often. They finished the job in few hours and did great work. Shout out to Luis and Ruben as well. Highly recommend these guys, they are great people!
I just think it's great that I can finally call a plumber and not have to worry about the "how" when you get down to the basics. AT Weber has always been a favorite go to business of ours considering their professional experience with all things plumbing and heating. Our guest 1/2 bath was making some strange noise after flushing waste and decided to pay them an in person visit. After our visit and explaining our issue we setup an appointment to have it looked at. Best electrician I've ever worked with! He's installed an EV charger, an electrical panel, and done other smaller jobs.
He's a very clear communicator, gives honest and accurate bids, and I know he will 100% do the right and safe thing. He's a master at finding studs and his work on installing boxes on a plaster wall was perfect.
T.E.C. managed the electrical work for a detached, new construction ADU in our backyard. It was definitely more substantial work than more regular, minor electrical projects, but I was very pleased with the experience. There was good communication about various issues/questions that arose, the team was great about soliciting our input and double-checking to make sure they got details right.

I have been using cleaning services for a long time and this is by far my favorite! They don't use chemicals, but they use high temperatures to clean my house. They steam clean all my home, making it feel super clean and safe. They are very reliable and always on time. They provided me with my own towels, they always use gloves, shoe covers and masks. I really like their service. Highly recommend it!

This was my first time remodeling my condo (or any property) and I couldn't be happier with my experience with Isaam Construction. They were thorough, skilled, and had a big emphasis on quality and communication that I really appreciated.
Abraham was my onsite manager and he was... actually onsite! He was very kind about answering all my questions and providing recommendations where needed. He was very patient when I needed time to figure things out, and honest when things needed change. He'd often FaceTime me to excitedly show progress updates and when he had questions or ideas.
I'm often anxious about doing home updates and tend to go the DIY route. Javier, the team's tile expert, really convinced me that sometimes a professional is just better. I had my bathroom remodeled and I still smile at how well the tile is laid EVERY TIME I SHOWER. I definitely can't say the same about all the personal projects I've tiled in the past.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable process and I would absolutely hire them again!
ReviewThis review has been long overdue! Our house project started just before COVID and involved pretty much remodeling our entire house on the inside. Little did we know that because of COVID, our project would take longer than expected. Despite all the COVID delays, we loved the final results. I would say as far our experience with P.K. Remodeling, Piotr is probably one of the most genuine, reasonable, honest contractors out there. His team were good guys too. He was very chill, easy to work with, took care of everything behind the scenes with the city, and surprisingly reachable. We had a leak from the outside due from the rain and siding (unrelated to the inside project) and called him late at night when we got home from a vacation to notice there water seeping through the wall prior to him installing the floors. He actually replied and had his guys look at it immediately the next day and fixed our leak. When there were issues, as there always inevitably is some with home remodeling, he worked with us to pivot with new creative ideas/solutions. Although my husband and I are fairly picky in our design choices, he was honest in what he felt would look good for our home, so there was some healthy debate in certain situations. Piotr was adamant that we have lights under our waterfall kitchen counter. We were hesitant at first, but he was right, and now it's one of the favorite characteristics of our kitchen. One time, he happened to be at the same tile store as we were. We were having some trouble deciding on trim borders, he kindly joined us in conversation with the designer, but was gently insistent that the white trim edge liners looked much better than the metal that was considered. Again, he was right. All in all, this process was not without its challenges and stress, but it made it so much easier just to work with an all around good human!
I am extremely satisfied with Burge Pest Control. I had a big problem with rats in my garage and two of my neighbors also had a problem. Burge worked with all of us in getting the problem resolved. Every time I needed them to come to my home I was able to make an appointment that was convenient for me. We have had an on and off rat problem over the past couple of years. Marichal quickly took care of that. He also handled the proofing where they had been accessing our property. Overall Marichal was professional, timely, and thorough. It was definitely a pleasure having him on the job. His pricing is very reasonable as well. We had several estimates of the job prior to hiring him. The others were literally thousands of dollars more. And he was able to take care of the job at a fraction of those other estimates. I couldn't recommend Marichal more for any rat issues you may have!
Dr. Pieda and Emily are a great team. Emily will usually get you situated for the Doctor and Dr. Pieda takes care of the adjustment. He is good at determining what needs help and working on the issue.

Dr. Reyes' technique combines electric stimulation with massage gun as needed, before making the hands-on adjustment. I noticed results within a few visits, with lingering improvements to my wrist & shoulders. His relaxed, personable manner doesn't hurt either!
I just had my first appointment with Dr Chris Galeotti after a gym injury involving my low back. Dr Galeotti and Geri (massage therapist l) are both very knowledgeable in weight lifting, proper form and kinesiology and it was a relief to know they could both empathize and sympathize with my pain and level of weight lifting. This first visit has relieved 90% of my pain already, even though I am still a little sore and tender as expected, I can move and sit much easier! I don’t think I will ever stop seeking care from them to stay in proper alignment!
I have been going to chiropractor’s for over two decades for my scoliosis and strenuous physical work activity and I have never come across such a thorough experience as I have with Catherine from Vitalogy Chiropractic, I am always greeted with warm and positive energy and asked thorough, thoughtful questions pertaining to my physical state. Not only does she integrate Massage but I love her moving table that stretches you out as well as a tens machine she offers. She maintains a great schedule and has fit me in with cancellations and other times when I needed it most I really appreciate how she has helped me heal from pain and injuries and kept my physical shape tiptop so I can continue to work to the best of my abilities. I've gotta say that I've come twice for major things to Dr. Davis. And both times he cured me one time it was for a back issue. I had over a long period of time and it took about six sessions till I was fine. The other time I went in there with something that hurt my knee for a couple months, and he fixed it in one visit.
My first visit to Dr. Basco's clinic was 2011 when I was looking for a chiropractor for my neck adjustment that cause tingling and pain in my fingers. The machine decompression is very helpful to align my whole spine. I feel a little taller every time my spine was stretched. I also
brought my two kids for spine adjustment. Love the frontal water view of the clinic and lots of parking space. Dr. Basco is kind and attentive to the patients need.

Went for a 90 min massage then Red light therapy. As cliche as it may sound…. I feel like a new man! I threw my back out almost three weeks ago and just NEEDED a massage. Bobbie is the best! I love her! The Red Light Therapy afterwards was super cool….or should I say WARM. It’s great. It’s like a warm bath after a full body massage. Can’t wait for my new session….

The vets & the staff are very sensitive and were incredibly kind and accommodating when my late dog was very sick, even when things got a little gross. They also gave so many treats & cuddles to my puppy during vaccinations that she truly loves going to the vet, even after seeing her brother so sick there. They seem a little pricey but it’s worth it to me.

We booked a day with two massage therapists with Sowa/Kneon Wellness to treat our teachers and staff during Educator Appreciation Week. They were very helpful and patient with me as we had a lot of logistics to work out. I also found their rates to be very reasonable. Day of the massages, the therapists both arrived on time to set up. Both were very friendly and gave amazing chair massages. They made many teachers happy that day. It was a big hit! I know that if/when we book massages for our teachers again, we will be using Kneon Wellness.
I've been looking for a high quality and affordable spot for massages when I want to treat myself to some much needed R&R, and after trying a few spots around Alameda, Dusit Thai is the one!!
The space itself is pretty simple and small, but I appreciate the small details like cute plant decor, real hand towels in the bathroom, and the heated massage bed. I always come out feeling sooo relaxed coming out of my Swedish massage there.
Bonus points for it being in downtown, so I can grab a treat afterwards to continue the self care :D
John's treatment to help with my bulging discs and sciatic nerve pain has been the best therapy I have received. His knowledge of the body has taken the results past what I expected was possible, touching on other issues I've long accepted as normal and increased my range of motion tremendously. I feel very lucky to have found him and his approach to body work.
Jessica is a true healer. I had been suffering with vertigo for 6 weeks. Usually my acupuncturist fixes me up straight away but after a month of twice weekly appointments, it was still hanging on. I tried Jessica after reading up on lymphatic drainage massage. She not only did that but also incorporated craniosacral & sounds vibrational healing. I was incoherent & out of it after the session. Jessica took care of me afterwards while waiting for my husband to pick me up. Once home, I slept for 2 hours. When I woke up, it was the first time in 6 weeks I felt normal! My vertigo was gone, fogginess lifted and I felt completely balanced. My husband & I were amazed. If you’ve ever had vertigo, you know it can be debilitating (it was for me) so to experience feeling normal again was incredible. My experience with Jessica was life altering. I cannot recommend her enough. She is exceptional.
Kristin is an incredible masseuse! Every time I go in for a massage I leave feeling like I have new arms and legs. Before the session starts, she listens to understand your problem areas, and then focuses her massage time working through them. Highly recommend!
First time seeing Raul for knee and carpal tunnel pain. He was very professional and communicative. The biggest difference I noticed was improvement with my sleep (I was also experiencing insomnia for about a month). I’ve had the best sleep since my session. I also felt relief in my arm (where I experience carpal tunnel), as well as overall release of tension in the upper body. Will be scheduling regular monthly sessions. The space was also very comfortable, easy to find, and plenty of parking.
Erin is a miracle worker. Her hands are fantastic. This is a clean and classy joint. Everything here is immaculate and Erin's service is flawless. I have issues with my shoulders and Erin was able to get in there and make me feel fantastic. What a relief. She has the ability to surgically adjust pressure and MD-level knowledge of anatomy. The going rate here is about $145/hour, which is cheap for a top-notch massage therapist.
I have rarely met anyone who is as good at anything as Joan is at massage therapy. Seriously, she is incredible. I've been going to her for a few years, and she has really helped me with some chronic pain issues.
Baby is incredibly sweet and did a wonderful chair massage on me today ending with some wonderfull streches. As a bodyworker myself I was impressed by her skill and she clearly has a great deal of passion for her work do and this was an amazing way to wrap up my work week! Highly recommend!
I went in with a few muscle aches. I left feeling amazing and extremely relaxed. I tried a two hour massage for the first time (didn't know that was even available). I don't think I'll ever go back to a one hour or even one and a half hour massage. Wow. What a difference that extra half hour made. I got checked in and taken to my room very quickly. Then Shelly worked wonders, while respecting the parameters I put down on my check-in form and also occasionally checking in with me during the massage to make sure I was okay with what she was doing. I'll be back.

I had my first acupuncture and cupping session at Good Witch Wellness & Apothecary in Alameda with Sarah North, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I walked in, Sarah made me feel completely at ease...she’s warm, genuinely caring, and took the time to really listen to my (very lengthy!) health and wellness history. She even researched my specific concerns, including a detached vitreous and ongoing TMJ pain, before our appointment.
Throughout the entire process, Sarah explained what she was doing, why she was doing it, and how each tool worked, which made me feel informed and comfortable. I had an injury on my left foot that was making running or even walking fast difficult. Also I had chronic injuries/pains resulting from training for long-distance triathlons (Ironman; an 140.6 miles race) on my right shoulder and the right side of my back. Tina’s treatment has been amazing! To the point that she has earned a nickname in my household - “the Magician with Needles”!Details of my condition: (1) Injury: something dropped on my left foot. As it happened right after my Ironman World Championship race, I did not care - I was not doing much of my training. I thought that the pain would disappear by itself. Then months passed, and the pain persisted. Moreover, I realized that the NERVES on my left foot are a LITTLE NUMB. So, when I tried to run a higher mileage at my tempo pace, my left foot was less responsive after a 6-7 miles. Also, TAKING STEPS the following few days were quite difficult.(2) Chronic pain: I almost entirely breathe on one side while swimming, especially if I am doing long difficult sessions. Also, when I am holding the aero position on my time-trial bike, I inadvertently tighten one side of my upper body - this becomes especially true if I am doing hard intervals and/or doing >2-3 hours of training. Consequence: chronic dull pain on my shoulder and my back. This results in debilitating pain during later phases of a race. This was seriously hampering my sleep after long rides (which is bread-and-butter for Ironman trainings).Treatment: I had gone through extensive acupuncture treatments before the pandemic for chronic pains - thanks to my health insurance! They worked, but the results were not even close to Tina’s treatments. I went to Tina, in the beginning of Dec, 2022. After three sessions, my foot injury was completely solved! In fact, after the very first session, I was incredulous with the results! The same goes for the chronic pain on my shoulder - that I have been living with for several years now. That too was gone! I was very confident that as I start doing “red mist swim sessions” in new years, the shoulder pain would come back - it kind of did, but only to 10-20% intensity compared to what it used to be. And that was relieved after one session with Tina in Jan, 2023. Now, she has started working on the chronic pain on my right lower back - and I am experiencing her magic already.In summary, my condition was a sudden injury and one from muscle overuses from sports. Tina’s acupuncture treatment resolved both issues unbelievably well (better than physios and sports massages).

She has helped me to heal a multitude of ailments quickly. That's why I keep coming back and referring her to all of my friends! Tracy is fantastic, for so many reasons! I came to Island Acupuncture for fertility support, once we decided to expand our family with baby #2. I had never gotten acupuncture before, and I'm so grateful to have found Tracy. It took us 7 months to conceive our first child (within average but still grueling!), so at the young age of 36 I wanted to do all I could to improve our chances with baby #2. So to Island Acupuncture I went!Long story short - We got pregnant on our very first try! I started weekly sessions with Tracy about 3 months before we planned to start trying, to prepare my body for a healthy conception and pregnancy. We weren't expecting it to happen right away, but we conceived on our first attempt after 3 months of treatment! I'm now 24 weeks along and have since moved away from Alameda, but I definitely would have continued with Tracy through the pregnancy if I could.In addition to acupuncture, I got so much more than I expected out of the experience. Tracy demonstrates such kindness and empathy in her treatment, seeking to understand not only your physical needs/concerns but also the emotional side. She takes time to help you understand what she's doing and why, and went above and beyond to advise on my holistic fertility journey - not just the acupuncture and herbal supplements she provided. She recommended a free fertility app to track temperature, ovulation, and menstrual symptoms, and took time before each session to review that week's chart and help me better understand my own reproductive system. I also appreciate that she never claimed her tools were the definitive answer to fertility - she was honest and research-driven in her approach, often explaining that these were simply drops in a larger bucket, contributing to a healthier reproductive cycle. She's a kind and brilliant practitioner and I cannot recommend her more!

This is an overdue review but I just want to share my experience & how thankful I am to Jacob. I've heard that accupuncture could help with conceiving, which had been an ultimate goal of mine for some years. After going to Jacob last November 2021, I decided to get his package deal it was 5 or 6 sessions for a great price. I explained to Jacob I was there for both some should pain as well as trying to conceive. He focuse on points that would help both. Every session was so relaxing, I'd go on my lunch break and come back to work so refreshed yet also sleepy. LoL anyways my last session with Jacob was early/mid January 2022 and I ended up conceiving at the end of February! Coincidence? I think not, doing accupuncture took so much stress off my body that I truly believe that it helped me to conceive. I can't thank Jacob enough & would recommend him to anybody. I plan to see him again in the future whether it's during or after my pregnancy.
I was in bad shape with a chronic neck problem and I called Dr Lam's office. He said I could come right away. He performed Acupuncture magic on me and that night was the first night I was able to sleep in a week! Highly Recommended.

She has a lifetime of expertise from her training in China that she brought over to the U.S. She also teaches acupuncture, sharing her decades of knowledge. She cares deeply about every patient, and thinks through their issues. She has managed my auto-immune issues and chronic fatigue, keeping me healthy. She is kind, expert, never rushes, with affordable fees (The one outlier review seems very out of left field)

Positives: My instructors were Eric, Anthony, James, all top-notch instructors with patience, humor, and good knowledge to learn motorcycles and basic riding skills.
Overall: Some people in my class it was their first time riding a motorcycle, I thought it was awesome to see them learn, I myself learned some things and I've been riding for a while just never had a M1. Do not think this class is a shoo-in to get your M1, if the instructors feel you will not be safe on the streets yet they will not pass you, they really want the students to grasp the basic concepts that may indeed save your life one day.
