“Yoga Off East is an excellent yoga studio in the heart of the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. It’s an absolutely beautiful space in an old, converted tobacco warehouse and I am always pondering the history of the building while relaxing in class. The main yoga studio is just beautiful with its Buddha mural wall, and stunning views of the outside courtyard. YOE is what I would consider a more traditional yoga studio, with its roots firmly in traditional yoga practice as opposed to more modern “workout style” yoga - and I think there is room for both styles so it’s a huge asset we have this. They also have the absolute highest standard of instructors I’ve seen at any yoga studio. Every instructor I’ve had at YOE seems exceptionally talented, both in terms of their ability to develop and demonstrate interesting or challenging movements, their ability to teach and lead a class, and their overall ethos and philosophy. It’s a testimony to this studio that this is the studio I’ve seen the most teachers from other studios attend! I particularly want to call out Shauna’s Sunday afternoon restorative class, which is far and away my favorite restorative and meditative class I’ve ever attended; and Leslie’s Monday night yin classes which can move from gentle relaxations through extremely challenging poses seamlessly. Very highly recommended”
