“We have been a customer of Walley's since buying our house. Our central air finally gave out. It was 26 years old. While having them quote a replacement, I asked them to check the age of our furnace and our hot water heater. The furnace was original to the house, 40 years old, and the hot water was 12 years old.
I asked them to quote a full replacement, but with high efficient equiment to take advantage of the modern technology and optimize our solar. This included an air source heat pump for cooling, as well as heating the house in the spring and fall. Next was upgrading the gas furnace to a new super high efficient system, that will work in conjuction with our air source heat pump. I also asked to convert the gas hot water over to a heat pump hot water heater. They put together an amazing package. I did shop around. Walley's wasn't the cheapest but they pointed out a few things that needed to be addressed with the system that others missed. I was happy to pay a little more for that level of detail.
There are great incentives for high efficiency appliances and heat pumps (air and hot water). The new air source heat pump and heat pump hot water are crazy efficient. Combined, they will use less electricity than our old central air was using on it's own. Another benefit of the heat pump hot water is that it dehumidifies the air in our basement, so we don't have to run the dehumidifier that ran 24/7/365. There is additional savings there.
