DIVERTRACKER SCOUT - Best Dive Tech Gear Ever
I started diving over 50 years ago when dive technology was nonexistent. My first regulator was a two-hose, single stage antique that today belongs in a museum, and I made countless emergency accents because there were no pressure gauges back then and my safety lever (J-valve) often got snagged on the kelp. Over the years I have embraced just about every dive technology to make diving safer and more enjoyable. The Divetracker Scout is one of the best pieces of dive equipment I own for both reasons. I purchased two units ten years ago in 2016, and they has been invaluable for boat diving. I bought mine to specifically use for lobster diving in the southern California Channel Islands. Every year, I do one or two 3-day live-aboard lobster trips comprised of about 15-16 dives per trip. Each dive involves hitting the water fast and covering as much terrain as possible away from the boat and every other diver. By zig-zagging out through low-vis conditions on the search for bug habitat, you completely lose your bearings, especially at night. If I think I got disoriented and was starting to loop back toward the boat too early, a quick check of the Scout can get me back on course. On the return swim, frequent quick checks of the Scout helps keep me heading straight back to the boat with confidence, and with plenty of air. No more wasting valuable air and losing downtime on mid-dive ascents just to verify the boat's location and reset a compass heading. No more getting off track that last couple hundred feet only to find myself just down-current of the boat and exhausted. It is a total game-changer for hunting dives where the focus is constantly on the hunt and not on your bearings or surroundings. Considering the small price and how much it has improved my dive experience, the Divetracker Scout is an absolute bargain.

Evergreen Building and, in particular, Jarrod Russo are in my Hall of Fame of general contractors. During my nearly 40 year career in rear estate, I acted as landlord for owners who couldn't do so themselves: pension funds, real estate investment trusts, and family companies. I have personally managed hundreds and hundreds of construction jobs and while I can't say that I have seen it all, I have seen plenty! I am not trying to toot my own horn but to let you know out of all the general contractors I have worked with, Evergreen is one of the very best.
That doesn't mean they are the cheapest because if you want cheap, hire some guys out of the Home Depot parking lot and good luck to you. What Evergreen does well is budget accurately, build and bill to budget, and orchestrate the different trades to show up on time and do their work properly. This is really important because, for example, the kitchen counter contractor needs to get his work done before the backsplash tile contractor can start his work, etc. A passive general contractor can have a schedule blow up because the subcontractors aren't showing up on time and a delay by one messes up all the other subs' schedules. Jarrod and his onsite supervisors are on top of this process which is why they can get the job on time which is so important in a renovation where the overall cost of renovation includes not only the construction, the possible cost of alternate temporary premises, delayed moving costs which might in turn complicate moving out of a property sold and promised to someone else. In short, while price is important so is the ability to perform in a timely manner.
Another strength of Evergreen is their ability to review and suggest improvements to plans. Jarrod suggested a half dozen changes on our renovation which, even though they increased the scope of the project, they significantly improved the quality of the overall renovation as they spotted issues with our site's drainage as well as how we could remove the ceiling lid in the original kitchen to reveal the good looking hidden wood beams which made the kitchen look and feel bigger.
I think most people who undertake significant home renovation projects go about it by bidding out the job and selecting the cheapest general contractor. (I wonder if they would bid out their heart surgeon the same way!).They think all construction is generic and one contractor's work no different than another. Many of them end up disappointed and disillusioned at the outcome which ends up being considerably more expensive and taking much longer to complete.
My advice is before a renovation is undertaken to understand that this is much more complicated than building an entirely new home in which everything is new and thus more predictable. On the other hand, renovations are embedded with unstated assumptions: the existing plumbing and electrical systems work properly and can be upgraded (plans typically assume this to be true); there is no mold, termite or water damage, etc, etc. Every renovation project will uncover some unpleasant surprise not contemplated on the original plans. The point is when stuff like like happens in a renovation--and I guarantee it will--you want the best, most capable, experienced, and honest contractor working on your behalf.
I respectfully submit that Jarrod Russo and Evergreen Building is the company I would use again to undertake any significant job requiring a general contractor.

Tina’s is the absolute best nail salon I have ever been to! Get my nails done regularly by Emily and she is a queen. Such a perfectionist. Tina herself make sure you interact with every customer and you can tell all of your employees are happy and well taken care of The chairs are great, it’s always clean, and they always do an excellent job. Such good customer service as well. One time when I was trying to schedule they have no open slots and I was leaving on a trip so they opened at 7 AM just for me. Fabulous!

1. I'm a custom higher end home builder and remodeling contractor. I can be a tough audience, critic and micromanager.
There wasn't a time where I felt I needed to do anything else other than be part of the team. As I knew the work was being done diligently and spot on quality wise. Typically, the last stages are the most difficult, it's where the finishes come into play. Paul and Adelle stayed on every sub to perform the work as it needed to be done. Our punch-list was short. It was competed in record time. Adelle is amazing on completion scheduling.
2. We started off with another local builder. It was a horrid experience. Constant delays, poor communication and little value for what was paid to them. I'll leave it at that.
3. We live out of state, so most of this was done via calls, emails and texts, plus some strategic progress visits.
even being out-of-state we knew we could count on great day-to-day communication. There was no unturned stone or detail not discussed during the process.
Again, as a builder, I know everything has gotten crazy expensive. Thus, it's so so important to pick the right contractor who respects your money and truly is vested in making it a successful project. I can assure you they are your team.

I worked with Steven MacDonald over the course of 8 years. His technique was gentle and productive. I have a short leg bone so the issue is chronic and now that I broke the hip its aggravated the situation. I moved from Monterey but would drive down 3 hours to see him again!
I brought my 5 week old baby to see Dr. Nilmeier because she was experiencing colic, reflux, and appeared tense/uncomfortable frequently. She also tilted her head to one side more than the other. With just one appointment, I saw a huge improvement. She was less colicky after feedings, she spit up less, and she was getting 5 and 1/2 hour chunks of sleep at night. We just had our second appointment and will likely not need a follow up because the issues are resolved. I would highly recommend Dr. Nilmeier to anyone experiencing similar issues with their newborn. She has been a life saver!
This is by far the best veterinary hospital. Dr. Cohen, Dr. Sherrill, and the entire staff at Peninsula Animal Hospital are absolutely amazing.
Dr. Cohen is encouraging, thoughtful, funny, and wonderfully witty. He instantly puts both pets and humans at ease. What truly sets him apart is that he always takes the time to fully evaluate the situation and offer thoughtful, alternative solutions rather than rushing into the most aggressive option.
Years ago, my pup had a leg injury and every other veterinary hospital we consulted immediately recommended surgery instead of rehabilitation. Unfortunately the first time we ever went to this clinic we were met with bad news, informed our boy had cancer and it had spread into his lungs. We were absolutely devastated and heart broken. I work in construction and consistently have back pain. I try to stay away from medication,my friend told me massage therapy would be a help. Wow what a difference. I don't know if it's just the ladies here or I've been missing out on massages but her deep tissue had me walking out feeling fantastic. She works my specific areas that were really in pain did a lot of stretching and even use hot stones. She even gave me tips on my posture and getting the right work shoes.
