They emphasize careful listening, respect, hard work, and humility. We value the way they relate to kids using compassion, humor, and age-appropriate methods yet consistently call on them to focus and follow rules.“

They consistently go above and beyond to make sure every student not only understands the techniques being taught, but is also applying them correctly during class. While students are rolling, the professors are constantly coaching, reminding them of strategies, and helping them sharpen their skills in real time. What truly sets this place apart is how nurturing and genuinely caring the instructors are with the kids. They continuously push them to grow, improve, and build confidence each day in such a positive and encouraging environment. Our boys have been treated like family since the moment they started, and that means everything to us. My husband and I were so inspired that we even decided to start taking classes ourselves, and I’ve already learned so much after just one class. The atmosphere is welcoming, motivating, and filled with passion for the art of jiu-jitsu. I cannot recommend Renzo Gracie Rockland highly enough for anyone looking for top-tier instruction, a supportive community, and an amazing experience for both kids and adults.“

“I am a Sensei myself. Recently I had the pleasure of teaching a seminar alongside Mitchell Sensei. All cards on the table, we have known each other for years now, but even so, I thought maybe I would include my comments that I sent to him privately:
“Just wanted to let you know that I think you’re a great instructor, not just a Sensei. Was listening to you as you taught beginners and advanced students during seminars. People at our level can cut just fine but not everyone can actually communicate how to cut to someone of lower rank and even fewer can tailor their advice to the person they are teaching. I consider you in the highest category”
Unsolicited. Sensei Noah Mitchell is my friend, but even among friends there exists professional…courtesy?..but also professional…review. Critique. Criticism.
So, from one “professional” to another, Noah Mitchell Sensei is not only my friend but is Sensei who will bring you to a higher level of swordsmanship. 10/10 highly recommend“

19 1/2 N Main St, Pearl River“A Truly Exceptional Karate School — For Both Kids and Adults
Mac Albus Shukokai Karate is everything you could hope for in a martial arts school and more. They are absolutely incredible with both kids and adults. Every single black belt in the school is willing to share their knowledge, support newer students, and help lower belts develop real skill and confidence. You can feel that each instructor carries forward the experience, discipline, and spirit passed down by Shihan Mac Albus himself.
Their love and dedication to the karate community that Shihan Mac has built is on display every single day.
As an adult returning to the sport after nearly 30 years, I’ll admit—I was intimidated walking into an adult class full of black belts. But that feeling disappeared after my very first class. The black belts were welcoming, patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and knew exactly how to mentor someone restarting their martial arts journey. It was the perfect environment to grow without feeling judged.
I’ve also seen this same level of care in how my son has been treated. In the two years he’s been attending, his confidence and skills have grown tremendously. The school doesn’t just teach karate—they teach leadership. Through their Jr. Instructor program, opportunities to demonstrate techniques early on, and a culture where higher belts are encouraged to help lower belts, the kids learn responsibility, humility, and how to support others.
This is more than a dojo. It’s a family, a community, and a place where students of all ages can thrive. Mac Albus Shukokai Karate is simply outstanding, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.“

A combination of a great taekwondo teacher, a spiritual leader, a sensitive, and very funny person. My two sons really developed as athletes and as good people at the workout place.
