They emphasize careful listening, respect, hard work, and humility. We value the way they relate to kids using compassion, humor, and age-appropriate methods yet consistently call on them to focus and follow rules.“

590 Central Park Ave, Scarsdale“We’ve had such a wonderful experience with Scarsdale Achieve Martial Arts! My child has been training here for about a year now, and we truly couldn’t be happier.
The coaches are incredibly professional, patient, and motivating. They really know how to work with kids — building not only skills and discipline, but also confidence and character. You can tell they genuinely care about every student’s progress.
The front desk staff always greet us with such a warm and friendly welcome, which makes the whole place feel like a community, not just a school. Communication and organization are excellent — we’re always well informed about schedules, events, and progress.
And after the recent renovation, the facility looks amazing! The space feels fresh, clean, and especially inviting.
Highly recommend this place to any family looking for a supportive, high-quality martial arts program. We’re so grateful to be part of this community!“

969M Central Park Ave, Scarsdale“My son and daughter have been attending Master Kim's Scarsdale Taekwondo for about a year now, and I am so glad we started. They’ve tried other sports, but Taekwondo is by far their favorite. It’s wonderful to see them enjoying it so much and always trying their best. What I love most is the instructors—you can tell they truly love kids, and they teach with so much energy and friendliness. I am incredibly satisfied and highly recommend this place!“

474 Livingston St, Norwood“My daughter loves her taekwondo classes. She began in an enrichment class offered by iPlus One Academy down the road, and continued during the summer at the studio. Master Isaac is wonderful with the children, and an exemplary instructor. These classes have helped my daughter with her confidence, listening skills, and physical strength. The belt testings are very organized, and create great memories. I would recommend Master J to anyone considering learning or enrolling their children in taekwondo!“

730 NY-304, New City“Renzo Gracie Rockland Jiu-Jitsu is truly an exceptional academy. The professors are absolutely amazing and have an incredible attention to detail. They consistently go above and beyond to make sure every student not only understands the techniques being taught, but is also applying them correctly during class. While students are rolling, the professors are constantly coaching, reminding them of strategies, and helping them sharpen their skills in real time. What truly sets this place apart is how nurturing and genuinely caring the instructors are with the kids. They continuously push them to grow, improve, and build confidence each day in such a positive and encouraging environment. Our boys have been treated like family since the moment they started, and that means everything to us. My husband and I were so inspired that we even decided to start taking classes ourselves, and I’ve already learned so much after just one class. The atmosphere is welcoming, motivating, and filled with passion for the art of jiu-jitsu. I cannot recommend Renzo Gracie Rockland highly enough for anyone looking for top-tier instruction, a supportive community, and an amazing experience for both kids and adults.“

All the instructors are very well trained and patience with the little ones. Shihan Baxter is world-renowned but still has time to teach the little dragons.“

6677A Broadway, Bronx“I was searching for a female-friendly space to learn self-defense when I found this gym, and it has easily been one of my best finds of 2025. Coaches Jhaydon and Orlando are exceptional—supportive, encouraging, and highly skilled. Their coaching in Muay Thai and BJJ has helped me build confidence while training in an environment that is both welcoming and disciplined. I’m equally grateful for the community here; it’s a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported as I learn. If you’re a woman looking for an MMA gym, I can’t recommend this place enough.“

They are black belts competing in multiple tournaments here in the local area as well as internationally in South Korea and winning 1st and 2nd place multiple times. They are an extension of our family and I would recommend over and over again!“

145 Palisade St, Dobbs Ferry“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Edge! I have 2 young children at Edge and they are thriving. Karate, overall, seems great for kids' development, but the team at Edge is extra special.
My children have had Senseis Eric and Jackie and both are really wonderful with young children. My Littles have wildly different personalities, and both are thriving due to the way Edge folks instruct, support, and guide them. The Senseis make the inherent challenge of karate (emotionally) safe and accessible to even young children. We are delighted to continue karate at Edge and tell our friends to come join us!“

200 Kinderkamack Rd, Emerson“I attended this martial art’s school when I was around 8 up until I was 18 and left for college. Im currently 29, and what I learned shaped my confidence, mindset, and physical well-being for my entire life.
This martial arts school does so much more than just teach you how to kick or punch. It teaches you how to carry yourself, how to treat others, and how to be aware of those around you. Most importantly though, it gives you the confidence to know that you can protect the people you love if you ever need to.
I would really encourage any parent out there to sign their child up for this school. I haven’t attended a class in nearly 10 years, but I still remember what I learned, and the Sensei that guided me during my time there.“

675 E Lincoln Ave, Mt Vernon“I’ve been training at Arena Training Center for about five months, and signing up was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I did a lot of research before choosing a school, and this one stood out immediately.
The schedule is incredibly flexible, with consistent classes instead of just a few options each week. The coaches, Elvis and Peter, are not only knowledgeable but patient, intentional, and genuinely invested in your improvement. From day one, you feel welcomed by both the instructors and fellow students, whether you’re brand-new or experienced.
Since starting, my stamina, and even my mile time, have noticeably improved just from showing up consistently. I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone looking to get in shape, build real skills, and train in a positive, growth-focused environment.
I’m excited to keep improving and seeing how far I can go. The discipline and consistency I’m building here are already carrying over into other areas of my life.“

11 Homans Ave, Closter“My son has been attending Tiger Kim's school for a few years now and has really enjoyed his experience. The school is well-organized, communicative with parents, and has created a family-like environment for all its students. It also has a great waiting/seating area where you can watch your kid's class. The Masters train the kids with a healthy balance of discipline and fun and are very supportive and patient. There are also a lot of fun activities planned for the kids during the year like a spring picnic, holiday party, and a Halloween party. In general, I would highly recommend Tiger Kim's Taekwondo school for kids of all ages.“
