His wide range of knowledge in the available lenses, and frames was very helpful (and impressive!), and he took a great deal of time to make sure I was able to get the right frames, and much better lenses than what I had before. As it turns out the lenses I had been using before had imperfections in the material, leading to worse clarity, in addition to not being up to par with what is available with other lenses manufacturers… Who knew? Well, thankfully, Steve. He was even able to get the lenses made in the mere couple of days I had left before I had to go abroad, a feat which no one else was capable. Thanks to his expertise and competence, I have wonderful new frames, and amazing lenses which no one else had told me existed. I’d give more stars if I could.“

“EDIT: I’m updating my rating from 2/5 stars to 4/5 stars due to the diligence on Ms. Renee and the staff at Affordable Optics. As I mentioned before, the women in this office have been nothing but kind to me, even when I sometimes let my frustrations get the best of me. They were honest and as helpful as they could be. They comped another pair of glasses for me (beautiful by the way), as well as a supply of contact lenses.

I really appreciate everything they’ve done and the fact that they didn’t let me slip through the cracks ♥️

I just sat on hold the entirety of my lunch break (over 30 minutes) waiting to follow up on a pair of glasses I ordered June 4th. Today is August 22nd. According to them it’s the labs fault. Honestly though, it doesn’t matter who’s at fault. I can’t see and I really am in need of glasses. I asked for a refund for the glasses at the beginning of August, since it had been two months already, and Affordable Optics basically said they didn’t think it was fair to issue a refund if they didn’t do anything wrong. We went back and forth for about 15 minutes that day.

Well, that was 3 weeks ago. Today I give 2 stars because I can’t overlook the fact that everyone in the office is pleasant and kind, but no one takes accountability for the shortcomings of their processes. Somehow, they find a way to make this long wait for my glasses my fault or the labs fault.

There is a BIG opportunity for improvement with their organization, communication, and accountability.“

“Alex knows his business. He doesn't sell cheap frames or cheap lenses. He is bluntly honest. If you can't deal with it don't shop here. He knows what frames will fit the shape of your face, the width of nasal bridge etc. I've been coming here for 10 years and won't go anywhere else. Lenses are extremely high quality. If you want stuff cheap don't come here. You get what you pay for. I no longer live in Maryland but I still come back here yearly to get my new glasses.“

“Even if I couldn't see out my new glasses PWO gets 5 stars. Not only are they probably the only shop in Baltimore where the staff doesn't hate their jobs, they seem to absolutely live for vision care. You get meaningful feedback -- Jordan* is patient and will get as wonky as you want, plus he actually designed the frames I picked. I submitted for out-of-network insurance benefit and net I might pay a bit more out-of-pocket than I might elsewhere, but PWO customer service is worth any delta and -- watch out -- optical providers notoriously rig pricing based on carrier reimbursement; here that's not a factor. If you wear progressives, you play roulette with the typical optician; Jordan* fit mine precisely, which is no mean feat. FULL DISCLOSURE: I already had my rx and did not get an exam from Dr Tony, although I overheard customers telling how great she is.

“I notice that my vision had gotten worse very rapidly, I made an appointment for an eye exam. Due to medication I was on I developed early cataracts. I was told by my doctor to see Dr Clarke Nelson at the Katzen Owings Mills location. He explained everything to me very thoroughly and didn’t pressure me to have surgery. I was uneasy driving because my left eye was all hazy with dark areas. I told him that I wanted to have surgery, so we scheduled the worst eye first and tentatively scheduled the second eye a few weeks later.

I was extremely nervous to have eye surgery while awake. I was amazed really quickly the difference in my vision. After surgery I had dark floaters each day decreased in a few days they were completely gone.! Honestly, I was shocked how well I could see! When I had a post op visit Dr Nelson said we don’t have to do the other it is up to you. I didn’t miss a beat…I said that “I definitely want my other eye done!”

I am thrilled with my vision now. My vision is sharp and clear! I can’t be more grateful for Dr Nelson’s skill and expertise! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!“

She then worked with customer service to find a similar frame in stock, cleared that with me, and negotiated expedited shipping as well as got me a 15% discount for the trouble and lack of communication from the online side. This type of proactive customer service is a rare find and I definitely appreciated India's initiative, positive attitude, and advocacy.“
