“We recently purchased a 25 year old condo and wouldn't you know it, the first cold weekend of the year we fired up the furnace and it worked for around 6 hours before failing. The unit had a cracked heat exchanger. The furnace & AC needed to be replaced as they were very much on their last legs, and we asked 5 companies to provide us a bid. Actually, we asked 15 companies, but 10 different HVAC companies refused to give us a bid either because A) we were in a condo complex (they won't work in condos), or B) we were in Kirkland (some of them don't like working with the Kirkland building Dept.) We don't understand either of these issues as the furnace is attached directly to our unit, and Kirkland has been super easy to work with on the remodel we just did.New Heating & Cooling wasn't just the lowest priced bid, they were one of only two companies that actually designed the system to really fit correctly into our condo unit setup leveraging and utilizing existing copper runs, existing electrical, etc. where appropriate. We signed the quote on a Friday night, and they were installing the following Tuesday morning. The did a complete removal and replacement of the furnace, coil, A/C compressor, fixed an issue in our ducting, and had us up & running in a couple days. The communicated proactively and professionally the entire time. We were quoted a job by a big name sewer & drain company with a plan to open up the sidewalk, replace our old, misaligned concrete drain with PVC, and then shoot a liner out to the street.My brother-in law said we need to call The Pipe Dr, they had just done some great work for him. I told Tricia our issue, and she recommended the same procedures, for about 1/3 of the price. She showed me samples from her truck and made sure I understood the process & materials. Her crew is diligent & respectful, and had their work cleaned up and contained between service days. All properly permitted and inspected by the city before they closed it back up, and the sidewalk now looks nicer where they worked, than it does on the rest of the block. : )The tens of thousands of dollars she saved us, and the awesome communication, and being able to support an honest, local, family run business feels like such a win/win/win. “These guys were just awesome. Finding out in the middle of night, that there is a drain leak, and water is getting spit out in the basement, whenever the sump pump works, is a nightmare.We called every other 24*7 service for plumbing but no one had an opening for 5-7 days.Pipe right (Kenny) responded to my request on thumbtack and was immediately available the next day. I was able to put a bandaid solution for the night.Kenny's diagnostic, triage, and the hard work was beyond commendable. He mentioned a flat rate, and worked through the problem till he was able to fix it, without saying if extra work would cost extra money.After removing lots of roots from the sewer line (old houses of Seattle), he also found out that there is a damage in the pipe.Kenny came up with a flat rate to fix the broken pipe. Kenny and his team digged up 4-5 feet of soil, found the damage, repaired it, installed a clean out access point, and jetted the pipe. “I have had a fabulous experience with Skyline over the past 4ish years, to the point that it is embarrassing that I haven't left them a rave review until now! Back in 2020 Scott came out to give me a quote on installing A/C in my house. I received several quotes from several companies, but what really set Scott apart was that he listened carefully to what we were looking for and worked with me to present several options for how we could accomplish it, explaining pros/cons with each approach along with the pricing. We had a traditional furnace and we considered just adding mini-splits, adding on the A/C, replacing the system with a heat pump, and even a hybrid of the heat pump + extra mini-splits upstairs. We ultimately decided to go with the heat pump and he and his team did a great job--they installed it when they said they would, worked extra hours to get it done in time, and even did some work themselves when one of their subcontractors couldn't make it to ensure they met their timeline. Fast forward to 2023 when I called them and said that I wanted to consider moving from heat pump to the hybrid system we had considered where we'd add extra mini-splits in the upstairs to get better A/C up there, given we don't have the greatest house-wide vent system (Skyline added a duct and return system when they installed the A/C, but it is hard to do everything after the fact in an old house, so we knew this was a possibility). Scott came back out and did a bunch of investigation saying that he wanted to make sure we really needed to go that route before we did it--he thought there may be a less expensive alternative. In addition, Scott also upgraded our thermostat, replaced a part of our panel that had a manufacturer recall, and did some other optimizations to the system based on things he had learned since installing ours (we got a very new to the market system)--all for no charge. He ended up recommending that we fix up some of the venting under our house and add some dampers down there that would send more air up to the second story, and he gave me a quote for that work that would be WAY less than the other route I was considering. I agreed, his team came and did the work, and WOW--HUGE improvement! We had a 5-8 degree difference from the bottom of our house to the top in both winter and the summer before and that is basically gone now. Even my extended family noticed when they came over--they were like, did you change something, your house is so much warmer now! I can't wait to see the impact on the A/C during the summer. Scott and his team are responsive and communicative, and I am SO impressed by the service he continues to provide even YEARS after my original system install.
