“I was initially hesitant to leave this review because the City Energy Systems team was knowledgeable, professional, and responsive throughout most of the process. From my first conversation with Tom to the sales process, communication, and installation day, everything went smoothly. The team answered all of my questions, and I felt confident moving forward.

When choosing the system, I was offered two options: a Trane/Trane combination or a Trane/Midea combination. The prices were very similar, and the Trane/Midea system was recommended because of Midea’s newer technology, warranty, and reliability. I trusted the recommendation and decided to go with that option.

Unfortunately, that decision has turned into a frustrating experience. The auto mode does not function properly, and the communication between the furnace, air conditioner, and heat pump has been unreliable from the beginning. The team acknowledged that this was a newer system for them and mentioned they had only recently started installing these units, so they were still trying to understand the issues.

The thermostat behavior has also been confusing. At times, when using only the furnace or only the AC mode as a workaround to avoid the communication issues, the fan runs continuously without providing any benefit. Instead of having a seamless, efficient HVAC system, I’ve had to deal with ongoing troubleshooting.

This has been very disappointing, especially considering the size of the investment. Had I known the system would perform this way, I would not have purchased this configuration—or at the very least, I would not have paid in full before knowing everything was working correctly.

I genuinely feel bad that this experience is forcing me to lower my rating because my interactions with the City Energy Systems team have otherwise been excellent. I believe they are professional and genuinely want to help. My lower score reflects my experience with the recommended Trane/Midea system rather than the team’s effort.“
