“Excel Plumbing's office staff were great — very accommodating, and they got me a next-day appointment once they understood the urgency of my sewer camera inspection. Ed showed up and first tried hard to find a way to run the camera without cutting into the drywall, but there just wasn't enough space. He checked with me before doing anything, and I gave the go-ahead to cut a small section for access.

Josh came out within the hour and figured out the reason was due to tenant using “flushable wipes” and they were blocking the pipe causing a back pressure issue…. We now have it written that tenants can only use TP nothing else or they will be responsible for all damages incurred. My air conditioner went out during a stretch of extremely hot weather, and unfortunately, my dogs and I couldn’t comfortably stay in the house. I initially contacted another HVAC company and received an extremely outlandish quote. Fortunately, I found Dave and Carefree Comfort through a family recommendation, and the difference between the two experiences was night and day.

I believe Dave himself came out to look at my system initially, although I wasn’t home at the time and had a family member there. From the very beginning, he was upfront, honest, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. I had several conversations with Dave about the options, pricing, and financing, and I never felt pressured to make a decision.

The immediate problem was that my air conditioner had a leak. However, given the age of my HVAC system, I knew that replacing just the AC could potentially mean facing another major expense before long. Dave took the time to really evaluate the entire system. He did tests to assess the airflow and immediately identified problems that explained issues I had been experiencing for years—including inconsistent temperatures throughout the house and poor airflow.

He also identified that the ductwork from when the original system was installed more than 12 years ago was poorly done and leaking. He explained what needed to be corrected and ultimately gave me an excellent price to replace the AC, the HVAC system, and the ductwork, as well as relocate the HVAC system into my crawl space.

They even enlarged my interior return vent and made significant improvements to the ductwork in my crawl space. The difference in airflow has been incredible. The air coming from my vents actually feels cold now, and my house is more comfortable than it has been since I purchased it.

One thing that really mattered was how much Dave worked with me when I was in a difficult situation. Because of the AC leak and the extreme heat, I couldn’t comfortably stay in my home. Once I decided to move forward with Carefree Comfort, Dave arranged for one of his technicians to come out the very next day to add Freon, so that my dogs and I could safely and comfortably return home while the scheduled the install and I submitted for a village permit. That meant so much to me.

When installation day arrived, I was expecting the project to take approximately three days. They sent three technicians, arrived promptly at 8 a.m., and made incredible progress from the moment they arrived. They were professional, friendly, respectful of my home, and communicated with me throughout the process. They came back the following morning, again right on time, and completed everything in two days instead of three.

Even after only having the new system for a short time, I can already tell that the AC isn’t having to work nearly as hard to keep my house at a comfortable temperature.

I would not want anyone else working on my HVAC system going forward. Carefree Comfort has earned my business for any future HVAC needs, and I will absolutely recommend them to my family and friends.

If you’re looking for an HVAC company that is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cares about doing the job right, I cannot recommend Dave and Carefree Comfort enough.“

“Beck's is simply the best central air conditioning company around -- total competence and integrity and customer orientation.

The central air in my condo failed in mid -June, diagnosed as attributable to a leak of the old refrigerant (R-22) at an unknown location between my rooftop compressor and my unit.

Two other air conditioning companies tried to sell me a new compressor and other components, with bids of about $10,000 each.
Only Beck's did not try to sell me new, expensive equipment. They conducted a thorough investigation and isolated the refrigerant leak on the roof. They repaired the leak, replaced one component that was rusted, flushed out all of the old R-22 refrigerant the length of the line, and replaced it with new refrigerant. Of course, they performed a rigorous performance check to make sure everything was working properly. Total cost about $1,600, less than 1/6 of what Beck's competition wanted to charge me.

I have lived in my condo for nearly 5 years, and the air conditioning works better and brings the temperature to my desired setting quicker than ever before.

The company is run by two brothers, Alex and Nico Ugolini, who took over the business from their father. He obviously did a great job, because they are great at what they do, always punctual, respectful, and HONEST. (I am not a family member or friend, and never heard of this company until my problem a month ago.)“
