3619 California St, San Francisco“Been happily coming here for years! On my first visit, Dr. Helmer quickly diagnosed my cat’s health issue that had puzzled other vets. She also noticed some dental issues that other vets never did. My cat clearly felt better after receiving proper care. I’m grateful for her and the wonderful staff here.“

2308 Lombard St, San Francisco“I took my dog in for an emergency visit and I’m going to be taking her here moving forward. The staff and the Veterinarian were all very professional and understanding. My dog received the treatment she needed, and I don’t feel like they were over charging. In fact, they gave discounted visits and they made it easy to schedule multiple visits in a short amount of time after work and weekends. They were also prompt with their updates and follow up information.“

My only complaint would be that they won’t give a vaccine without a physical, even if my cat has recently had a physical from them.“

2221 Taraval St, San Francisco“My dog has been in the care of Avenues Pet Hospital for 3 years now. It can sometimes take a while to be seen for non-urgent stuff, such as the very first new client appointment and the annual exam, but otherwise my dog gets seen quite quickly as things come up (usually within a few days, and via email or phone when I have concerns but am not sure if they are worth an appointment). They did not allow people inside for a long while due to Covid safety restrictions, but we can now go inside to wait in the waiting room, and accompany our pets during their appointment. It seems silly for other reviews to complain about this when it was for a valid reason and not an arbitrary policy. The only times I can't accompany my dog is when he comes in for his regular nail trim and gland expression as an out-patient - this is done in the back where pet owners aren't allowed. FYI I get his nails done at the vet bc he has particularly long blood vessels / quicks in his nails, so I feel safer about it being done here, even though it's a roughly-done trim and I file them smooth at home. The vets are kind and I always feel like I'm getting their honest assessment. Front desk is also always very helpful. For reviews that mention they're rude - it can depend on the person tbh, but if anything I think some can be less warm than others, and I would *not* say at all that they've ever been rude. I think they're really busy nonstop and are doing their best to get through patients in an efficient manner -- and that can sometimes be interpreted as being a little cold, when really it's just being neutral. As a society we tend to think women are "cold" when they're not overly warm and are otherwise just being normal & neutral, yet don't think that of men doing the same. So let's check our gender bias, alright? One word of advice that I learned the hard way - most medications are substantially cheaper at Chewy or Costco, so ask them to send out the prescription! The vet office has zero problem doing that and it's never awkward. It's not a perfect system since Costco doesn't have everything, and Chewy takes some days for delivery (i.e., doesn't work for meds needed the same day). I don't say this as a knock against the hospital, as I think this is common practice for vets and helps keep the lights on. I instead say this as a heads up, because I didn't know this for the longest time.“

825 Moultrie St, San Francisco“We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Dasho and his team for the outstanding care they provided for our large, fearful dog. After several challenging experiences at a traditional veterinary office, we reached out to his team for help, and we’re so glad we did.
They were kind, punctual, professional, and exceptionally skilled. Thanks to their thoughtful approach, we were able to complete all of our dog’s vaccinations with minimal stress in a convenient setting outside the home, which helped avoid territorial issues.
They guided us in choosing medications to keep him calm and followed up afterward to make sure he was doing well. We were very impressed by how confidently and compassionately they handled him.
They also took the time to walk us through the risks and benefits of different options, helping us make informed, personalized decisions tailored to our dog’s needs.
We highly recommend Lotus to anyone looking for a low-stress alternative to a traditional vet visit.“

1235A Taraval St, San Francisco“The docs and staff at Vet Vision were exceptionally good with my sometimes anxious dog. The doctors are skilled and personable and are supported by state of the art equipment. This comes at a premium cost, of course. But it’s worrisome when a loved pet develops eye problems. Vet Vision can reliably make it better.“

1386 Golden Gate Ave, San Francisco“⸻
It’s amazing to think about how long we’ve been coming to Blue Cross Pet Hospital. I first heard about them almost 10 years ago from my neighbor, who told me that dogs should have a dental cleaning at least once a year, or at the very least every two years. At the time, that idea felt so unusual to me. Where I come from, dogs were simply considered pets, and dental care for them wasn’t something people really thought about.
Later, I learned the hard truth from friends who had lost their dogs due to severe dental disease—when untreated teeth became rotten, the infection spread into their bloodstream, caused complications, and their dogs passed away. Hearing those stories made me realize how important dental care really is. That’s when I decided to take my dog to Blue Cross Pet Hospital, and that’s where it all began.
Over the years, they’ve done much more than just dental cleanings. They’ve provided preventive care, regular checkups, and continuous support for my dogs’ health. Thanks to them, my oldest dog lived to be 20 years old, and even though I lost another, he lived a long life up to 16 years. Today, I have three dogs, and all of them are still under the care of Blue Cross Pet Hospital.“

8AM - 6PM
1830 Polk St, San Francisco“This is an excellent small clinic and the main reason is Dr. Cote.
I have been bringing cats and dogs to him for more than 14 years, have dealt with quite a few veterinarians in Mountain View, San Mateo and San Francisco, and can say that he is one of the best I have worked with. My first dog developed a rare autoimmune disease and he recognised it almost immediately. More importantly, over all these years he has remained the same person, he is very knowledgeable, practical, and genuinely interested in what happens to his patients after they leave the office.
One thing I really appreciate is that he follows up. With difficult cases he tends to call later to see how things are progressing, which is something I encounter much less often than I used to.
I also think some of the older criticism of the front desk was fair. The medical side of the practice was consistently stronger than their reception. On my last visit, however, Kalista was handling reception and she was amazing.
There is usually metered parking available very close to the clinic“

8AM - 6PM
201 Alabama St, San Francisco“Words cannot express how grateful I am to the medical team at SPCA for providing such world-class, empathetic, compassionate care to my previous love bug, Chestnut.
He had a critical medical episode due to an underlying condition. I called them ahead of my arriving and they were fully prepared for my arrival, remembered my cat’s name from the call hours before, and acted swiftly to stabilize him.
The veterinarian came in to deliver the news I was sadly expecting, but did it in such a way that honored the decision I knew I needed to make. They gave me all the time in the world to feed him delicious treats and a final meal, hold him, sing to him, and then hold him as he gently went “to sleep.”
While I am heartbroken, the experience was beyond all expectations and they made it possible for my beloved angel to have a dignified, honorable transition.
Thank you, SPCA, for making his end of life a truly gentle and compassionate transition. Thank you for meeting me where I was at, and for walking with me through it all and helping me into my new chapter without my best friend.
Please never stop the work you do. I cannot express how critical it is to our community.“
9AM - 5:30PM
2145 Taraval St, San Francisco“Sadly I had to put down my pet hamster. They were very compassionate, first examining him to make sure there really wasn't anything that could be done. They have a private room for you to say goodbye. And they offer to make a little clay plate with your pet's footprints. The receptionist who was working was really sweet and compassionate too.“

“I have finally found a vet that I feel super confident in and don't feel like I'm being ripped off. Everyone here is so kind and clearly loves animals. My little nervous cat just had dental surgery and it went off without a hitch. So grateful for Seven Hills and my kitties will keep coming back!“
