1133 7th St, Oakland“We had Dr. Sawyer as our oncologist for our senior dog. She was able to walk us through our different treatment options effectively, and was always available for questions throughout the treatment period. We never felt pressure or guilt to choose one treatment over another. Even though our pup passed after 3 months of treatment, we’re thankful that she got the best treatment she could have to manager her discomfort and pain. We will always be grateful for Dr. Sawyer’s empathy and guidance.“

5745 Thornhill Dr, Oakland“The staff at Thornhill pet hospital is the best!! Theres something really special about this place. Dr.Yang and Alicia, take great pride in the work that they do. They keep me informed of the care they give to my dogs, and i totally trust their judgement and decisions. They strangely have a special connection with the animals, which makes their care that much better. Ive taken all my dogs to Thornhill pet hospital and wouldnt even consider any other veterinarian.“

1807 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley“For more than 25 years I’ve had Campus Vet Clinic look after the succession of Brussels Griffons that took over my life. My Griffs have outlasted a couple generations of Campus vets, and the current crew and their cheerful support staff are worthy successors to those who came before.
Drs. Pierson and Tam have helped ease my Trixie into her matronly years, keeping under control later-life conditions like dry eye and declining mobility.
I am getting to the age when I wish the benefits of my own healthcare providers were as predictably positive as those enjoyed by my little friends. As always, we dog lovers strive to provide to our canine companions the things we cannot always get for ourselves.“

5331 College Ave, Oakland“I've been taking my dog to Claremont Vet since I adopted him five years ago. He is a pup with a lot of medical issues and health challenges, and has been to Claremont Vet at least a dozen times (maybe even close to two dozen) for both urgent care and regular visits. We've most often seen Dr. MacDonald (who we love) but have seen all the providers at one point or another. The staff are so compassionate, professional, and helpful. The doctors are exceptional with their knowledge, care towards my pup, and their patience with my questions. I always feel like my pup (and myself!) are in excellent hands with the team. And I love that I'm supporting a woman owned small businesses. I've had to take my pup in to ER vets elsewhere a few times and (understanding there's a vet shortage and everyone in the field is worked to the bone), I have always walked away feeling so grateful that Claremont Vet is my primary provider and offers such great care. I could not recommend Claremont Vet more and I will certainly bring future pets here.“

3331 Grand Ave, Oakland“My dog is almost 17 and in excellent health. I credit Grand Lake vet… great vets, observant, intelligent, kind and clearly care deeply about their patients. The staff is kind and thoughtful and very accommodating to my furbaby (well, furteen) who’s behavioral issues and fear of the vet can sometimes be challenging. Thanks GLV for taking such good care of my dog!“

1830 Polk St, San Francisco“This is an excellent small clinic and the main reason is Dr. Cote.
I have been bringing cats and dogs to him for more than 14 years, have dealt with quite a few veterinarians in Mountain View, San Mateo and San Francisco, and can say that he is one of the best I have worked with. My first dog developed a rare autoimmune disease and he recognised it almost immediately. More importantly, over all these years he has remained the same person, he is very knowledgeable, practical, and genuinely interested in what happens to his patients after they leave the office.
One thing I really appreciate is that he follows up. With difficult cases he tends to call later to see how things are progressing, which is something I encounter much less often than I used to.
I also think some of the older criticism of the front desk was fair. The medical side of the practice was consistently stronger than their reception. On my last visit, however, Kalista was handling reception and she was amazing.
There is usually metered parking available very close to the clinic“

401 Valley View Rd, El Sobrante“I was very pleased with the service at El Sobrante Veterinary Hospital. From start to finish, everything was explained clearly and thoroughly, and I never once felt pressured to get extra services or upsells. The staff was professional, patient, and genuinely cared about my dog. It made the whole visit feel comfortable and stress-free. I honestly think I’ve found a new vet for Duke. Highly recommend.“

It’s amazing to think about how long we’ve been coming to Blue Cross Pet Hospital. I first heard about them almost 10 years ago from my neighbor, who told me that dogs should have a dental cleaning at least once a year, or at the very least every two years. At the time, that idea felt so unusual to me. Where I come from, dogs were simply considered pets, and dental care for them wasn’t something people really thought about.
Later, I learned the hard truth from friends who had lost their dogs due to severe dental disease—when untreated teeth became rotten, the infection spread into their bloodstream, caused complications, and their dogs passed away. Hearing those stories made me realize how important dental care really is. That’s when I decided to take my dog to Blue Cross Pet Hospital, and that’s where it all began.
Over the years, they’ve done much more than just dental cleanings. They’ve provided preventive care, regular checkups, and continuous support for my dogs’ health. Thanks to them, my oldest dog lived to be 20 years old, and even though I lost another, he lived a long life up to 16 years. Today, I have three dogs, and all of them are still under the care of Blue Cross Pet Hospital.“

This was our first visit with our newly adopted dog who is very fearful after coming from a hoarding situation. Dr. Wright answered all of our questions. Everyone handled him patiently and with good care. I found the pricing/estimate process to be comparable to an independent practice where I currently take my cat. They presented top tier care options and gave me time to ask questions and prioritize.“

3997 Emery St, Emeryville“I've given reviews before but wanted to reiterate how wonderful Dr. Gill is! She's literally the vet who I trust the most with my fur babies. Yesterday, she saved my five year old Ragdoll's life! He has PICA syndrome which is very challenging and unfortunately he chewed a kitchen rag causing a blockage. At first, Dr. Gill seemed hesitant as she said that this was a complicated procedure which could involve the stomach and intestines. She warned of the possibility of a rupture. I cried when dropping my Nicholas off for the surgery but had faith that he was in good hands -- and he was! The surgery went smoothly and he's now recovering very well at home. If you have pets, you should trust this amazing doctor! She's my heroine! Thank you, Dr. Gill! And to her amazing technician too! She was great. She explained things so well and was very kind.“

I called SFAMC and they were ready for Ricky as soon as we arrived. They were comforting, transparent, and called with updates as soon as they had them. Ricky was in the ICU with them for 1.5 days. They let me say goodnight to him when he had to stay the night. He looked very comfortable with a blanket on top of him for comfort. I highly recommend SFAMC for all pet emergencies.“

“Have been going here for 7 years. Just took our 2 dogs for their annual checkup and Dr Li was great! So patient and kind, and not pushy about paying $1300 to clean one dog's teeth.
I am dismayed that they are owned by private equity, but I can't find a Vet who isn't.“
