James is an amazing Massage Therapist that not only has gone above and beyond for the patients that he treats but makes every minute of each session count. He moves with focused attention to what your body needs. I’ve experienced a lot Massage Therapist throughout my life but none like James. I highly recommend him for your medical massage needs and I look forward to finishing out my massage therapy appointments with him.
Thank you James for helping me through this injury and your pursuit to help me get better.“

2650 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley“Rob Lin is an exceptional physical therapist. Rob and his entire team are patient and welcoming, and his 1-on-1 work is phenomenal. If you have the option, I cannot recommend The Technique enough. I knew when I signed up that working with him would be an investment, and it is one I am so glad I made.
I came in with an injury that I have been struggling with for 4 months. I had been seeing another PT but I had repeated setbacks during my recovery. I was in consistent pain and I wasn’t improving.
In 3 weeks or so, Rob has gotten me to a place where I can function again and even push my physical limits. He is kind, reassuring, and his hands-on work has consistently made an obvious impact. Immediately after getting off the table, I feel less pain and improved stability that last. His work on me has allowed me to push further during session and during at-home exercises, which he’s tailored based on my feedback.
TLDR: I’ve already recommended Rob and The Technique PT to friends struggling with injuries and would urge anyone to book a free in-person consultation. Rob is amazing and I look forward to every session. I can’t thank him and his team enough.

460 Boulevard Way #2d, Oakland“My experience at Renew Physical Therapy was fantastic, and having “graduated” from my visits a month ago, it’s clear to me that my back problems have subdued and are in the most controlled state they’ve been in years.
I was paired with Josh who I trusted almost immediately, and after a few sessions it was clear he was a good match for me and great PT in general. He was able to be almost casual or informal, while being professional at the same time. He took the time to get to know me and my issues, and his knowledge about the subject was evident. I was impressed and will be forever thankful.
The facility administrators were also great. I incorrectly documented one of my appointments and ended up accidentally no-showing, but instead of getting annoyed or charging a fee, they worked with me to reschedule quickly and efficiently. They were kind and personable, and I also really liked how quickly they responded to text messages.
It may not seem like a big deal but it was also convenient that there were always parking options outside too.
I would strongly recommend this business. And while I hope I don’t have a reason to go back, it’s comforting knowing they’re close by.“

She's extremely knowledgeable, explaining why I had certain sensations and pains based on my body's physiology. I also found the exercises effective. I have progressed well in range of motion, strength, and pain reduction. I'm climbing and doing yoga again, in a way that seemed impossible when when started. I highly recommend Emily!“

If he was stuck in traffic he would notify me and give me an update on his ETA. Otherwise he was very timely.
If I could afford it, I would hire him out of pocket.
Jem is truly a great guy and awesome PT.
Thank you Jem.

130 La Casa Via 94598, Building 3, Ste 111, Walnut Creek“Although I am a Kaiser patient, they do not have enough pelvic floor physical therapists, so when I asked for physical therapy to help with stress incontinence (no, Kegels weren't the solution for me), they referred me to PHRC. I was able to get in for my first appointment quickly thanks to the friendly office staff. Melinda Fontaine, PT, DPT, was my assigned therapist and I cannot say enough how thankful I am for that. She is warm and open and so very knowledgeable in her specialty. I felt immediately at ease and was able to share with her my symptoms and what I hoped to achieve with therapy. She listened intently and without judgement, asked questions, performed a physical exam, and then set up a treatment plan for me. After demonstrating each exercise, she would then watch me perform them until she was confident I knew how to do them correctly. At each appointment after, she again would ask questions and make adjustments as necessary. I noticed improvement in my symptoms by my second appointment! I have been very vocal in telling my friends, family, colleagues - anyone who I think may benefit - how wonderful Melinda is and about the good and necessary work that is being done at PHRC. And now I'm telling you.“
“I dislocated patella (kneecap) and I could not walk without dislocating it, Philip massaged my knee and leg everyday for a week and I can walk on it. Such fast results in such little time. The massages were long and very deep but it has helped me truly recover from this injury.“

403 49th St suite a, Oakland“Amy and Iris are the two PT's that I've seen at Back to Life Physical Therapy; they both are very knowledgable, and thorough in their explanations and guidance. In addition to their abundant knowledge in the specific area of pelvic floor, the extra care and time they put in to really listen, understand and then instruct me have been what distinguishes them in the field of physical therapists. I have improved since starting to work with them (a year ago). The office is kept clean and neat, and is full of natural wood, natural light, and includes a library of pertinent material. Colleena, the receptionist/office manager, is a wonderful and personable and efficient part of the team. I highly recommend this practice.“

1431 Oakland Blvd # 215, Walnut Creek“I had a mountain bike accident years ago, and believed chiropractic care was the best course for my physical health despite still suffering from regular pain. Thankfully, my chiropractor referred me to Clayton Francis for an evaluation to see if Clayton could help me. I've been seeing Clayton now for almost three years and feel better than I have in many years. He explained to me why I still had the pain from the bike accident, and gave me exercises to help develop the surrounding muscles. Clayton explained to me why my back hurt (I was wearing bad shoes), he showed me how to take care of my feet so exercise would be more beneficial, and he's taught me many more things that are invaluable. When I first saw Clayton 3 years ago, I was severely stressed (loss of job, death of a parent after years of caregiving) and in a great deal of pain just about everywhere. At that point, I needed to see him weekly or every other week to get stabilized. Now, I only see him once a month. If you need help finding out how a mystery pain originated, and how to fix it, see Clayton. If you have chronic pain from an old injury like me, go see Clayton. He's truly a magician!“

2855 Telegraph Ave Ste 301, Berkeley“I have had great results for my pelvic issues with PHRC, with Tiffany Ai Lan Vo and other PT’s there. The support staff is also very supportive, welcoming and competent in dealing with the insurance maze. Thank you Lisa Topete. I got excellent PT care, support and guidance there and highly recommend PHRC.
I went to PHRC after a mountain biking accident and healing of my fractured pelvic bone. The scar tissue buildup was restricting my range of motion and made bike riding painful. After much research, I found PHRC as the only PT clinics in the North Bay providing both strengthening training and manual therapy. I’m completely past my injuries and in a better physical condition than before my fall accident.“

Over the years Don has helped me with my rolled ankle (with significant tear in the ligament), my tennis elbow, and most recently with my aching knees. “This review is very long overdue. I first had a massage at Shape Shifters earlier this year, then started attending yoga, and then a special combo treatment (we would do some body work and some physical movement). Terra helped me SO much .. I was/am healing from a few car accidents, and her super knowledge of the body was a huge asset to me. I had been "out" of working out for a very long time because of my accidents, and with Terra's guidance, gradually got back into yoga earlier this year, and now am happy to say that despite moving across the country and no longer being able to attend Shape Shifters, I'm able to do yoga poses I was unable to do before, and in the gym lifting weights! I cannot tell you how huge this is for me - and I really credit Terra for a big part of the shift I needed to get here. She is incredible! And supported by great masseuses as well. Also love the creams she has. I would recommend her and the studio to anyone looking for a supportive environment to work out (yoga or pilates) and/or who needs body work... and especially to anyone who was like me and wanted a combination of those things! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!“
