I have known Zoe for some time, she's an intelligent, thoughful and charismatic person, and most importantly, a person who cares about what she's doing. This is the kind of thing that I always look for, because my daughter has a good sense of style, and even though she's reasonable about getting what she wants, its not always easy to make that happen in beauty salons.
First off, the stylists have to make a living, keep things moving, second, they say they'll layer your hair, or whatever you ask for, but does it happen?...not necessarily, and that's the reason Zoe is now the only person we see.
Zoe will take the time she needs to meet my daughter's styling requests, and believe me, I sit there and watch her work, she's meticulous, energetic, clearly interested in what she's doing, and remarkably skilled. The first time we went to her salon, over in the Emeryville Plaza, we came out amazed at how the whole experience went, and, most importantly, the cut that we got.
As a parent of a child that is very discerning, I don't expect to see every box checked...but with Zoe, that's how it goes, every time we come in.
There are people who are talented, people who care, others that are well trained and some who are just lovely to deal with, or reasonably priced, but there are very few people who have all those qualities, they exist, but you have to hunt.
We found it all at Spellbound Studios, and as such, it inspired me to write a review, because credit belongs where credit is due.
Zoe is one of those wonderful young people who just knows her craft and cares about her clients, she cares about what you want, and what its going to cost you to get it. The first time I paid her, she thought I had over paid her and tried to hand me back my tip...who does that?
She's the only stylist we'll ever need, and she's magic with color.
Kunga fit me in immediately when I lost power to part of my home during a storm overnight. Sorted me out quickly, for a reasonable price, and I've now got him working on a few other projects around the house i've been meaning to get around to. Kunga is courteous, responsive, prompt, and professional. I'll be calling him for all of my future electrical needs.

First I want to highlight Miss Delia skill set as a hairstylist. She gave me an amazing cut today. I really appreciate her and her kindness. Second, there was a very rude lady that was very disrespectful to miss Delia, when she was just doing her job. Miss Delia remained calm and professional even when the lady was berating her personal space and having her hands close to Miss Delia’s face. I don’t condone bullying so I just wanted to make sure I spoke up for Miss Delia.
So in love with the salon & owner !! She was so nice With the most amazing customer service and hospitality !! I came in for a silk press and color in my hair came out so perfect and silky. I will definitely be returning. She does all type of hair textures. She is extremely professional and the shop is beautiful. Definitely check them out for a great Bay Area hair styling

I was referred to Aide about 5 years ago when I commented on my daughter's teacher's beautiful hair. She always knows what to do with my long, course hair, strategically covers my gray areas and her cut and balayage technique are always on point! The color is beautiful and I always get so many compliments. She is so amazing and talented, that I travel an hour to her salon and it's soooo worth the drive. I leave her salon feeling like a new person every time! Hands down, her work is truly the best I have ever experienced and I am so thankful to have connected with her.

I had microdermabrasion, lemon enzyme, and oxygen mask. The lemon enzyme cleared my pores. My skin was soft. She was on time. She answered my questions. Overall a good example.

Pheakdey is amazing. I've followed her from a previous salon in Oakland (where I live) to her studio at Sola in El Cerrito. Although she used to be located 2 blocks from me, the distance won't stop me from using her for all of my hair care needs! It's hard to find a hair stylist that you trust. She dyes my roots every 7 weeks and cuts my hair every 14 weeks. She knows exactly what I like and I always leave extremely satisfied. She's also done eyelash extensions for me that last for a long time, and the experience was very peaceful and relaxing compared to other places. Not only is she highly skilled, but she's a pleasure to talk to and I always look forward to spending time with her. She is the sweetest and has such a good heart. I highly recommend Pheakdey for hair care and eyelash extensions!

Chantal did an amazing job on my daughter's individual braids for going back to school tomorrow. Our appointment was very last minute but she was on time, painless, and fast! My kid is tender headed too and she loves her hair! We will most definitely be return clients!!Service: Braids
Lee has been cutting my hair for years. She always does a great haircut and she is a really pleasant human being. I always enjoy myself and I look sharp after a visit.
Phil has been cutting my hair for over 20 years. You get way more than a great haircut that continues to look great as your hair grows out. Phil knows so many people from the area and loves to introduce people who are getting their haircut to the folks who are with waiting for their haircut or who have just dropped by to chat. It's an experience that you won't forget and will look forward to repeating.
95 year old owner Jerry Sandlin is a legend - with 6 decades plus of experience. Maybe 7. Served in the Marines. I'm honored to be a customer. He's a true gentleman, soft spoken, and can still cut hair PERFECTLY. I hope I can stand for 9 hours per day at 95. Mimi is also SUPER TALENTED. CREATIVE. DETAIL ORIENTED. She shaves the hair on my ears with surgical precision. She has given me the best haircut I've ever had (and I lived in NYC for 45 years). Traditional barber shops rock.

The prices were a little expensive compared to other salons in the area. I walked out paying $83 (58 for deluxe pedicure and 25 for manicure).
Nonetheless! I will come back and would recommend coming.

Amazing service always. I come visit three people...Keayoni and Teaundra for hair and braid styles and Aliya for lashes. Great customer service, and I am always happy with the outcome. They also include a wash with service, which extremely rare these days from braiders. Since they are all licensed, you will receive full service and can ask for scalp treatments, deep conditioning, a trim or cut, color, and the style of your choice. Support these amazing ladies.

I could tell Cipriana knew what she was doing aesthetically, so I reached out. She impressed me with her knowledge and professionalism too, so I booked with her. I really appreciated her confidence in knowing what service was best suited for me (as opposed to what I thought I needed). After all, you should have total trust in the person tattooing your face. I was blown away. Cipriana did a phenomenal job, my brows look great, and she's super sweet too. Book her!

Wendy's nails had been around a longgggg time! A local staple. None of the frills, very basic but excellent service. She does nails, her focus is on making sure your hands and feet are in tip top condition, not nail designs. She does all the things other salons charge you extra for! It's just Wendy and her husband Kevin working as a duo team in this salon. Been coming here since I was 15 and I'm 35 now. A few weeks ago I came here to get my nails done for a wedding, I was in the bridal party and got them done the day before. All of a sudden the power went out, on the whole block, and I told Wendy, I have no choice! You have to finish! So we busted out the flashlights and she finished my nails and instead of gel she found a gel top coat for me. They were perfect and beautiful and only someone with her skill set could finish in the dark, ha! She prides herself on being clean and Covid safe. A lot of us are long time customers that don't want to give her up as a local secret, but... she deserves the patronage. I have been to this braiding shop three times. Gorma is the best braider that I've ever had. She's friendly, professional, and her braids are very neat. The braids are not tight, and they are lightweight. She uses quality hair and is an expert as she's been braiding for 25+ years. Her daughter is friendly as well and helps Gorma so the times goes by twice as fast. Highly recommend!

For extensions, Lexi is your girl! She's helped me feel confident while growing out my natural hair. I get compliments all the time and most people are shocked to find out that I have hair extensions because they blend so well. Many of my friends have ended up becoming clients of hers as well. She's great with color, she gives lovely haircuts, and she always gives good advice. On top of all that, she's extremely friendly. Truly a professional.

Solid massage and lovely sauna room! I booked a 60 min Swedish and 30 min foot reflexology and ended up getting a 90 min Swedish. That said, I walked out relaxed and felt great.

Andreea is an amazing bodyworker. But that is an understatement. My body was out of alignment from accidents I have thad throughout my life, and it was causing pain. She has been slowly correcting that, and my stance and posture are coming back to the place where it should be. My body is slowly regaining the ease which it had when I was younger. If I could afford it, I would go on a regular basis. She is well versed in many modalities and knows what she is doing.

Did a bathtub drain replacement. They used quality parts, communicated through the process, and got the job done well. Definitely a good plumber to call.
I've used Olivero Plumbing for a couple of years now and had nothing but the best result. Some of the jobs were small, like unplugging drains; some of the jobs were bigger. The results were always super, and not only that, they were very economical - much less that other bigger companies I've used in the past.
They are very responsive, reliable, friendly, and professional. They're a local, family-owned business, and by now I feel like I'm part of the family. (Special shout-out to Steve, who's wonderful, and to Julie in the main office who does scheduling and billing and whatever else. I'm going to have them put in one of those Japanese toilets (forget what you call them) in a small bathroom without a sink so the toilet has the sink on top so you can wash your hands and that water does the flushing.
In short, I can't give a higher recommendation. Olivero Plumbing is the best!
Larry did a great job cleaning our carpets. He was courteous and communicated well as our appointment got closer. Price was very reasonable. The only downside is I had to wait a few months for an appointment, but he's a one-man show and he gets booked out because he's good, so I can't fault him for that. Definitely would hire again!

Brian worked on a kitchen remodel with us and the results were wonderful. But more than that, the process was smooth, mostly due to his ability to constantly stay on top of details and keep us in the loop with near constant communication. His standards are very high, for himself and his subcontractors, and it was an all around pleasure to work with him over the three and a half month project. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Work to replace woodrotten T11 wall siding was done timely and within budget. Accomodations were made to do additional minor necessary work not originally in contract. Major damage that occurred during construction were fixed. Only caveat is that if there were any woodrot underneath the T11 wall siding, they will not check for it. Need to hire someone else to check this before they proceed with installing the new T11 wall siding next time.
Duval Construction completed a complicated job of repairing our subfloor when we found out we had a bad case of dry rot on our existing floor joists. They worked with an engineer to come up with the most efficient and cost saving way to do this, which saved our existing flooring from being torn up. To complicate things even more we were on a time crunch and they did their best to accommodate us, successfully completing their work on a tight schedule. Can not recommend them enough, they are honest, hard working, responsive and kind.

We’ve been going to this dentist since the first dentist visit for our first kid, now 7 years old. Now our second kid comes with his older sister. They always make the kids feel comfortable and even excited to go back and get toy surprises.
The office is clean and totally geared toward kids, with toys in the lobby and even a horse saddle for the x-ray chair! There’s lots of colorful fun artwork on the walls, TVs on the ceiling make our kids smile! while getting their teeth cleaned!!
They also have fun contests a few times each year, like send in a postcard with prizes for nearest, furthest, most colorful, etc.
They don’t take accept insurance, but we keep going even though they’re out off network for us.
Plenty of off-street parking in a small free parking lot.

I came in for a second opinion for work that another dentist had quoted me a couple thousand dollars. At El Cerrito Dental Care the team was very reasonable and they were not pushy on the treatment plan. The business hours and availability are great. 10 out of 10.

The environment is pretty comfortable, and my provider got me a deep tissue, her skill is professional. I will visit again.
This is a new place. Only been open a few months. Maybe that is why there have been no reviews. I tried it for the first time because my normal person is on vacation. Got a 1 hr massage from Diana. The massage was good and relaxed my tense shoulders and back. Although I found some of her movements a bit rough - for example pushing an arm aside instead of lifting and lowering it. The place was clean. The environment is a bit noisy but I wasn't aware of it inside. Diana was the only one there, which offers the possibility of interruptions. But no one came while I was there so that was ok. The only odd thing was that she left the door to the room ajar, probably incase someone came in. The prices are higher than average for El Cerrito. There are a lot of good massage places for less. I think they should lower their prices to compete.

I ask for Eva everytime she massages me for both my pregnancies and always has me side lying safely and knows exactly how to work my knots. I was afraid to share about her but I think she deserves business and tips bc she’s a sweet lady and really puts her knuckles to work everytime I go. The business owner also intentionally only charges $50/hr instead of raising prices hoping people wouldn’t skim on tips and I appreciate that as well. Support your local business folks!
