“Lisa and her team were simply fantastic from the beginning to the completion of our project. Lisa posses keen insights into kitchen layout as well as taking into account the style of the house and the style and preferences of her clients. Our house is a 1920s house in Alameda with many quirks. Lisa came up with a curved countertop to address the funky architecture and it is one of the best features of the kitchen. We've never had someone so involved in managing a project, choosing materials, colours, and touches. Lisa brought in excellent contractors who were respectful, professional, and timely. The project also came in right on budget, which we've never experienced before. Lisa is an excellent guide and sounding board through the whole process. Our experience was excellent and we would do another project with her in a heartbeat!“

“We had a leak issue and talking to Mike through a video call on the phone helped us to quickly identify and fix the leak. Also, Rain Defense has been fixing issues on our house for a while now. They documented every previous work which was great to help eliminate these items that's have already been addressed through past work.“

“After interviewing over 10 contractors, we decided to go with Isaam Construction (the fact that they are based in Alameda was one of the primary reasons, along with good value and Abraham's easy-going personality) for our first-floor renovation (kitchen make-over, first floor flooring and paint). I gave them 5-stars in my review because I am more than pleased with their service... but to be clear, NOTHING in ANY project goes perfectly (be it installation, timeline, workmanship, etc). I say this as a DIYer who knows a thing or two about fixing things (and having been to really expensive new homes and observing the detail and execution of work in the finished product). As a client, you need to set realistic expectations. The Good: Abraham (the proprietor) is funny, easy-going, transparent, really good with communication and very trustworthy. He's given some ideas that was harder for his team to execute (like using the same backsplash material on our window frame) because it would look better (it turned out fantastic... see pics!). He's also attuned to his clients... there was one incident where an unfortunate slow leak occurred from one of the plumbed areas and because he knew how upsetting it was, he got his team to work on it immediately. His team was great too! His office staff was always available to help, and the construction crew was very mindful of their work and the occupants in the house. Things that could be improved: Timeline: yep, we went over the estimated timeline. BTW, a lot of this is driven by the permitting process so I don't blame them at all. Secondly, it rained a lot and if you know anything about construction, rain is a bummer. Also be aware that your project may not be the only thing his team is working on so you need to consider that...we knew and didn't mind so much as long as the final product was good. Cleanliness: again, if you know anything about construction, there will be a lot of chaos and mess (no exceptions. I have gone through other job sites and not just Isaam's during this project and none of them was clean by any stretch... it's just how it is). Once the job is done, everything goes to back to how it was. They did a great job cleaning up! So there you have it... Isaam did a great job with our project and we plan to use them for our next major one (very likely outside painting and repairs). 5 stars for sure!“

They remodeled our master bath, guest bath , kitchen , flooring , interior & exterior paint and windows . “ReviewThis review has been long overdue! Our house project started just before COVID and involved pretty much remodeling our entire house on the inside. Little did we know that because of COVID, our project would take longer than expected. Despite all the COVID delays, we loved the final results. I would say as far our experience with P.K. Remodeling, Piotr is probably one of the most genuine, reasonable, honest contractors out there. His team were good guys too. He was very chill, easy to work with, took care of everything behind the scenes with the city, and surprisingly reachable. We had a leak from the outside due from the rain and siding (unrelated to the inside project) and called him late at night when we got home from a vacation to notice there water seeping through the wall prior to him installing the floors. He actually replied and had his guys look at it immediately the next day and fixed our leak. When there were issues, as there always inevitably is some with home remodeling, he worked with us to pivot with new creative ideas/solutions. Although my husband and I are fairly picky in our design choices, he was honest in what he felt would look good for our home, so there was some healthy debate in certain situations. Piotr was adamant that we have lights under our waterfall kitchen counter. We were hesitant at first, but he was right, and now it's one of the favorite characteristics of our kitchen. One time, he happened to be at the same tile store as we were. We were having some trouble deciding on trim borders, he kindly joined us in conversation with the designer, but was gently insistent that the white trim edge liners looked much better than the metal that was considered. Again, he was right. All in all, this process was not without its challenges and stress, but it made it so much easier just to work with an all around good human!“

“George is awesome! He came out recently to give a bid on foundation work at our place. We've also interacted with him before while we were buying our house in Alameda many years back. Though he would have been our first choice (his reputation for foundations is unmatched!) we didn't end up going with him due to time constraints and other factors. Despite that, recently we needed a second opinion on some framing work and so I reached out and he gladly helped us look over a contract and gave feedback. Though we aren't a current customer I'm thankful he was willing to take this time out of his busy schedule to help. We will definitely keep him in mind for our future foundation work. Thanks George!“
