“Came in tonight, 20 minutes before closing with a lost dog I found. I was super frantic but the vet attendant was super calm and helpful, she scanned the dog for a micro-chip and gave me the ID number which helped me find the dogs owner as well as some dog food and a leash!

So thankful they were open and so kind.“

“I found the team very communicative during the appointment, and they took great care of my cat.
Estimates were provided and adhered to, the procedure and options for continued care were explained thoroughly.
My kitty was Dr Loics third procedure of the day- the team called me when they started, and the doctor called me himself once he was done.

The only thing that would improve my experience was if they used the trupanion express for direct billing so I wouldn't have to wait for reimbursement from insurance. I was honestly shocked a specialist wouldn't have this option when many GP hospitals do.

Regardless, everything was great- hospital was clean and the team was all incredibly friendly and caring.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic! They took such amazing care of our kitty when she’s dealt with fevers. It’s always stressful when your little angel is sick, but I truly feel like the whole staff at this clinic care deeply about their recovery and making them as comfortable as possible. They took every effort to get us in as soon as possible and were incredibly communicative throughout the whole process. From the front desk agent to the vet I really felt like our cat was in the best hands. Thank you for making a difficult experience manageable. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone!“

Hemlock Animal Hospital Vancouver Veterinarians

“I have had the most amazing, caring experience At Hemlock Hospital. The owner’s cat who I was cat sitting for I did not want to pay for care for her dying cat. I called Hemlock and they took me in right on the spot. The receptionist was extremely friendly and understanding. Doctor Harry suggested the cheapest possible treatment consider considering my budget. He gave cat fluids & put her on a weeklong antibiotic treatment. Sure enough, I saw the cat come back to life after a few days.
Other clinics or Hospitals would have needed appointments ahead of time and would have cost triple of the amount of money.
Not only that, but the understanding, great care and the follow up from the clinic was remarkable.
Highly recommended!!“

“The best vet hospital! We’ve been seeing Dr. Chan, and she is incredibly gentle, warm, and careful with my dog. I trust Dr. Chan 100%, as well as the other doctors here. I love that they send detailed summaries after every visit so I never miss anything. I also really appreciate that I’ve never felt pressured into any unnecessary treatments. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a new vet for your baby!“

“Excellent vet clinic! My experience with Dr. Hayk Hakobyan has been the best experience I’ve had with a vet. He almost instantly can see what your pet needs or what the problem is (in my experience) and treats the animals like they are his own. He doesn’t force procedures or treatments on you but gives his honest opinion on what he thinks your pet needs. Each time he has been extremely accurate and one of my senior cats, Walter, is a new cat! I cannot recommend this clinic enough 🙂“

“Over the past 15 years I’ve had two dogs treated at VVH, the first with Dr Cheung and the second with Dr Wolfman. Both vets, along with their techs and front desk staff, have been exceptionally caring and knowledgeable.

I’ve found they are conscientious about recommending all available options for treatment and not pushing us in one direction. The turnaround time is also impressive, especially for urgent issues.“

“My partner and me have an almost 6 year old German Shepherd who just always seems to have allergies and he is constantly uncomfortable. He is quite often on some sort of pill to calm his itching. We decided to take him to this clinic last week. Worth absolutely every penny. Everyone who works there knows what they are doing and they work as a team. We got a VERY long time with the Dr.. He explained/taught us so much. All the tests were done right in front of us. there will be follow up visits, but in the meantime we went home with a strategy and a plan laid out for us, and we can already see marked improvement! Also worth noting - we had some questions after the first 4 days of the new diet, the team member I spoke to on the phone had all the time for me and she knew all the answers.
thanks folks! see ya in a couple of weeks“

“I have a 10 month old puppy who was refusing food/water and vomitting on the hour. We took her to Atlas Vet on an after hours emergency basis and since, I would not hesitate to drive the 25-30 mins to see Dr. Mansa again. After her blood work was done she seemed fine for a couple days but then her symptoms returned and we unfortunately had to return to his office. Once again, we were well taken care of and they didn’t charge us another exam fee.
I cannot say enough good things about the care we got from Dr. Mansa. He is a wonderful and knowledgeable vet whom I would highly recommend. He gives you your options with costs and allows you time to decide. He does not push treatment on you or make you feel dumb as I have experienced at a past vet close to home. He is patient and kind and explains things well, even when I wasn’t really understanding it all in those stressful moments. I would 100% recommend him.

Thank you, Dr. Mansa and staff for taking care of Millie.“

“This photo was taken the day before my rabbit Ariel was to be euthanized at home. He lay in the fading light of the last sunset he would ever see, easing into his favourite sunbathing pose. I sat beside him as evening settled over the water, thinking of all the sunsets we had shared over the past seven years, and wondering why it was only now, as the final one was quietly slipping away, that I understood how extraordinary an ordinary evening could be.

During the preceding few months, as it became increasingly obvious that it was kinder to provide Ariel with palliative care rather than put him through yet another dental surgery, I began looking for a vet clinic closer to home. I picked Oak Animal Hospital because I had previously had a positive experience at its sister clinic, Burrard Animal Hospital, and at Oak I could have access to the same vets.

I couldn’t have been happier with this decision. All my concerns, large and small, were addressed with promptness and care by Dr Kileen, Dr Cheng and Rashelle. They equipped me with an arsenal of drugs I could administer to Ariel at home to keep him as comfortable as possible. Most movingly, on Ariel’s very last visit to Oak—when his at-home euthanasia had already been scheduled for a week later—Dr Kileen looked positively mournful as he carried Ariel to the back room for a blood test, to confirm that his dying body could tolerate the high dosage of Metacam we were giving him. Dr Kileen said softly that if Ariel showed signs of struggling, he would grant him peace and not draw blood from him by force.

My original intention was to put Ariel down before his condition deteriorated to the point where the pain medication no longer worked. Better one week too early than one day too late. The incredible staff at Oak helped me pinpoint the right time. In the end, I achieved what I had hoped for: Ariel’s last day was a good day. Because of the team at Oak, mine was, too.“

“We've been patients of Dr. Child's for 10 years, and I don't think it's a coincidence that our Frenchie is nearing 15. Her expertise and care have played a huge role in the amount of quality time we've had with him.

Some of the one-star reviews seem to conflate surprise at veterinary bills with poor service. In our experience, her pricing is comparable to other vets or emergency animal hospitals in the GVA.

The facts from our experience:

We've never been rushed out or to make a decision.
We've never felt like products or treatments were pushed on us.
We've always been given our options, her expert opinion, the space to think about them and the choices on how to proceed.

Quality veterinary care isn't cheap, especially as a pet ages. Like anything you value, maintaining your pets properly costs considerably less than neglecting it until something goes wrong. Know what responsible pet ownership can cost and prepare accordingly.

Again, our little guy is nearly 15 and the median age for this breed is ~10, which probably says more about our experience with Dr. Child than anything else could.“

VCA Yaletown Animal Hospital Veterinarians

“For about 8 years they took good care of my cat Sylvia during regular checkups and the occasional health concern. But I truly came to appreciate the quality of their services when my cat began to show serious signs of illness four months ago. Dr. Rachel Barker in particular, who was incredibly helpful, and her guidance was invaluable during that time. Ultimately, my cat passed away due to cancer, but I am confident I received the best help and advice along the way.
Very friendly and empathetic staff, whether it is reception, doctors, or technicians.
Their prices are fair, and I never felt like I was being upsold. The only exception to this being the aftercare costs: the VCA takes a huge margin on memorial products through their recommended provider. But even then, they were able to work with me to find a more reasonable solution.
Everyone was very patient and helpful while I was navigating the truly difficult arrangements for my cat's euthanasia and aftercare.“

“Dr. Wiehl was incredibly compassionate and kind when our senior dog was brought into her care. What was an extremely difficult and emotional time for our family was made a little more bearable because of Dr. Wiehl’s genuine care and compassion.

My husband and daughter were the ones who had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Wiehl in person, and they both spoke so highly of how much she helped make the best of an incredibly sad situation. Her kindness, empathy, and sincere concern meant more to us than we can put into words.

We cannot thank you enough, Dr. Wiehl. This world is truly lucky to have someone like you.“
