“I saw Kathryn Thompson for my eye exam and follow up contact fitting and she was so nice. I got there a few minutes early to my appointments and was in and out both times. The entire staff was polite and explained everything really well. I asked if I could just used my old glasses since my prescription barely changed and she said yes. I was impressed with them not trying to pressure me to buy new ones when the old ones work perfectly fine. I will definitely be coming back. She even emailed me my prescriptions so I didn't have to worry about losing the paper with it on it. Super professional.“

“Walmart Vision/Optical has a very knowledgeable staff. EJ, Kiaria and Rob are great! Each of them are helpful and their customer service skills are great. Insurance is accepted there and even the one time after cataract surgery Medicare can be processed by them. The Vision Center offers regular lenses as well as Nikon lenses. I got to them for their excellent customer service, wide selection of frames, discounting on multiple pairs and Nikon lenses. A huge thanks to each of them for all their help!“

“It was a Christmas Miracle! We were visiting from Digby, Nova Scotia and when my husband accidentally stepped on my glasses, destroying the frame and arm, days before Christmas. We thought we were doomed but decided to go to the nearest eyeglass business to see if anything could be done. The friendliest woman, who was working on her own that day, quickly assessed the situation and told us to have a seat. She miraculously fixed the frame and arm, popped the lens back in, and had us on our way within 10 minutes. Crisis averted! And the added bonus - she refused to take a dime! I did not realize my mistake until AFTER I had paid and after my surgery was complete. She felt so bad for me and was so kind. “Dr. Arima is a wonderful eye doctor, is efficient and explains things well. His many years of experience is obvious, and he has an endearing personality. My main purpose of reviewing is for the optician, Evan. My family has been going to MCV for many years and now I will only purchase glasses there from Evan. I make appts just so I can be assured he's there. Over the years we've had several opticians help us with selecting glasses, and while they were all nice (Jessica, who used to work there, was also great), Evan is exceptional. He knows what he's doing. He can steer you towards glasses that match your face shape, color preference, price range, and can give you an honest opinion when you're sitting with 2-5 pairs and can't decide. What I find unmatchable is his knowledge of accurately applying your insurance. As silly as that sounds, I've sat with other opticians during the pandemic years who may have over quoted me every time, so I chose not to get new glasses. I was sad when Evan left but was ecstatic when my daughter and I went for our most recent exam and saw Evan working in the optical department. Before walking in, I had told my daughter that we would probably be purchasing her glasses elsewhere so to not plan to stay after her exam. Because Evan is back, we not only got her new glasses but I finally got an updated pair that I wasn't planning on. I've even chosen my next pair of glasses I will be purchasing in the new year when my new insurance benefit renews. Evan makes finding the right pair of glasses a pleasant experience. You won't be oversold anything and he'll have them done correctly“

“Dr.Klindworth is very friendly, very honest, and very thorough with the exam, he spends the time with the patient to explain anything he may have found during the exam and made sure they understand what is going on with their eye, and answered any questions they may have. The team he has upfront are very friendly and very helpful from selecting the style of eye glasses, and explaining all the features that can go with the glasses. “I have been going to this practice for 35 years or so, when it was run by Dr Hyde and Dr Pfieffer. During this period, their practice was absolutely first rate. Both were terrific optometrists to interact with. Since the time they both retired, I feel that the practice has taken a slight downward trend.

The optical department has bottomed out, with opticians that are unfriendly and don't seem well qualified in their field. If I could rate this department separately as one star, I would. The last two times I have gotten new glasses prescribed did not go well.

The first incident, I had to debate with the appointed optician at the time, that the glasses were causing distortion in my vision. I followed their advice to adapt to the new lenses for a couple weeks. When my vision continued to be uncomfortable, they eventually found out that the progression on the lenses was done incorrectly and they had to grind new lenses. The second time, my prescription (OD side) had a mistake with the astigmatism measured off incorrectly by 90 degrees. The optician said, "Oh it takes a couple of weeks to get use to it." Not an indication of competence.

It may be time to move on.“
