“Booked with Class Pass and genuinely enjoyed the workout. Ashley was a great instructor, very descriptive with movements/demos, and corrects form if needed. I liked how it wasn't crazy like solid core but still felt challenging enough. Parking is a bear but that comes with the territory in this part of Houston. Overall, this reformer based Pilates class is definitely on a repeat list for me!“

“This review is long overdue as I've been coming here for years now. I initially discovered this place through class pass, back in the day when I was physically challenged and working out was a chore to me. I had never done pilates, or heard of a reformer machine, so finishing my first class was a big accomplishment to me. As a beginner, yes you will feel overwhelmed. But the instructors give detailed instructions and each workout is geared to every level (beginners, intermediate, and advanced). There are plenty of mirrors and I find everyone is focused on their own form so there is no need to feel self conscious. The studio has 14 reformer machines and it is always kept clean. There is one bathroom and a water refill station, as well as little cubbies you can store your stuff in. Each instructor has their own distinct styles and music choices so I suggest trying out different ones. I've never had a class/instructor there I didn't enjoy. The only gripe of this location is parking. There is a small, shared private lot and so parking is hard to come by during peak times (particularly the weekends), so I suggest coming early during those times. There is also free street parking on that block as well. Overall, I love Boost for their challenging classes that burn in the best way and I always come out feeling strong.“

“I contacted/visited four personal training studios in central Houston before deciding to start small group training at Avenu. I've been going 1-2 times/week for a couple months now and find myself looking forward to working out with Cassie each week. Their 30 minute sessions with a few (1-3) other women are the perfect model for efficiency, motivation and attention to form. They have a ton of equipment/space/resources and mix things up to keep it fresh and engaging. I'm so glad I found them and highly recommend the studio!“

“This is a high quality, independent studio run by an exceptional teacher, Dominic. I taught Yoga for over 20 years and have a little insight into what it takes to be an excellent teacher. He knows most students by their first names and makes individual adjustments on the fly according to their abilities and interests. Students are very loyal and they make new students feel welcome. Lots of comradeship at the studio. He also supports the larger community via an active Toys for Tots program and related efforts.“

“29 classes in... and I figured it's better late than never for a review. Especially for such a fantastic studio! Remember the kid who always trailed in after running the mile breathless well after all the other kids had completed their mile, many under 8 minutes in PE class? Or the kid that always got out first in dodgeball? Well, that is me. I've always been sensed that I am poor at fitness, and subsequently, I never enjoyed it either. That is until Citizen Pilates - my favorite way to work out. It truly is a class for all fitness levels as there are multiple ways to take moves. The instructors are universally friendly, and they gently course-correct but not so often that you feel discouraged. The music is upbeat, and a lot of the moves are a great workout, but many are lower intensity. That's exactly what I'm looking for! My favorite touch is when instructors provide options for taking springs. (Some days, the red or green spring is not my friend) Also, the help desk and support are always there with prompt and ready help should it be needed. Highly recommend for anyone of all fitness levels.“

“Evelyn is such a great instructor and was so welcoming and friendly when I first arrived. I booked a reformer session through ClassPass and left with an amazing experience. She emphasized form and corrected me to minimize injury, which shows she's very knowledgeable. The reformer Pilates here was at an intensity I wasn't quite used to, but I enjoyed the challenge and you will definitely get a good workout from here! Also, the studio is very clean and the reformer machines look brand new which is a plus.“

“My daughter has been taking aerial here for a year and a half. We just absolutely love the center and the instructors. We actually moved 40 minutes away, but still make the drive just because it’s worth it (rather than switch to another place 5 minutes from our new home). Highly recommend HDC for all ages. “I love love love the Restorative Yoga class with Kristen! This class is exactly the stretch/relax/feel-good class I've been looking for. The whole hour I'm thinking, "Ahhhh, that feels goooood." I've taken other group classes at the studio and they've always been great and very reasonably priced. This is my favorite place in Houston for Pilates, and now Restorative Yoga too!“

“I finally sought out Dr. Joseph Vargas due to a worsening low back problem. My love for golf had finally come to a screeching halt after a 30 year love for the game. I have tried everything from chiropractic care, massage therapy, heat, ice, anti-inflammatory drugs, 17 steroid injections in my spine, and surgical options. Unfortunately my case is complex and therefore I'm not a candidate for surgery. Surgeons told me to "go try pilates". After last playing golf Easter weekend and having to quit due to the severe pain after just a few holes, I started with Joseph and after 6 weeks decided to try golf again. Played last weekend and did so pain free, and also had no soreness or pain afterwards or the next day. Let's just say Joseph has made me a huge believer in his Pilates training. He is a fantastic teacher and coach, and is very knowledgeable on how to deal with injuries and degeneration. I highly recommend Dr. Vargas!“
