I have to replace every window in a new home we bought and he patiently took me through all of the different options and what was the best decision long term. He talked through different concerns with climate and moisture erosion on materials, glass color caused by coatings and iron (literally walked me outside with samples to show me in real daylight and I immediately made a decision). “We live in a historic neighborhood in Portland, a 100-year-old home that was in desperate need of a solution for old leaky windows and doors. The required oversight of the historical society was potentially nerve-wracking, and the in-kind replacement was rather pricey.
Serendipitously right after a terrible ice storm an advertisement arrived in the mail from Sashwright; "Are you freezing your sash off?" We laughed but agreed we were and needed to do something about it.
Steven Colvin the proprietor of Sashwright came out to do a thorough walk-through of the house offering a variety of suggestions that would solve our problems and not break the bank.
We chose to have custom wooden shutters fabricated for the entire house, as well as a new front door and side door.
Several of the storms have a swappable storm/screen panel for change of season.
As we progressed through the measuring, ordering, and installation phases of the project something became clear to us no matter who we spoke with or met on the job. Steven has developed a very special culture among the staff and craftsmen on the job. There's only one way to do the job and that's right. Sash-right. The attention to detail was extraordinary and it was truly a delight to have them work in our home.
I can't speak highly enough of them, and unfortunately cannot give them more than five stars. Stephen runs a great business, supported in the field by skilled craftsmen, Matt, Michael, and Dave. The office management and operations are competently handled by Deborah and Laura.

“I needed a downstairs window and two upstairs windows replaced due to seal failure damage. Design consultant Matt came over to do the initial estimate, very thorough and forthcoming with details about the products and services Lifetime offered. I went with the Milgard Trinsic windows. The cost for the one-day job was pretty reasonable, I thought. Seven weeks later, Zack and Jacob came over to install the windows. They were very friendly, respectful, and considerate of the house. The job was completed in a single day, and they made sure to clean up after themselves. I recommend this company and would definitely do business with them again.“

“We had a great experience working with this company. Our project was new siding replacing old plank siding and a point job. Estimate was very clear and we even asked for a new estimate to break out all optional charges before we moved forward. During the process we had a couple small issues/misunderstandings that were quickly cleared up and fixed to our satisfaction. That is bound to happen when dealing with a few point people that are all human. What was also nice about this experience was that it was done in a timely manner with no surprise hidden costs. My biggest fears when dealing with any project is big delays and paying much more then we agreed on so that was a big relief that it was not an issue. We would and have recommended them to others.“
