A huge shoutout to my daughter for earning her high yellow belt after 4 years of dedication and hard work! Watching her grow in confidence, strength, and perseverance has been incredible. This place is about so much more than martial arts, it’s about building character and lifelong skills. Highly recommend!“

474 Livingston St, Norwood“My daughter loves her taekwondo classes. She began in an enrichment class offered by iPlus One Academy down the road, and continued during the summer at the studio. Master Isaac is wonderful with the children, and an exemplary instructor. These classes have helped my daughter with her confidence, listening skills, and physical strength. The belt testings are very organized, and create great memories. I would recommend Master J to anyone considering learning or enrolling their children in taekwondo!“

730 NY-304, New City“I absolutely love coming to this school. I came here 6 years ago with the goal of wanting to learn self-defense with absolutely no prior athletic experience. I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and students, who were so kind and patient while working with me. I’m so happy I stayed and continue to practice my skills. The community here feels like family and I have made long lasting friendships here. If you are an adult who needs to find a healthy “third space” Renzo Gracie Rockland is the place to be!
Also, the owners, Omar and Arelis Jimenez are amazing people. They really care for all their students and want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe in the environment. Safety is very important in this school.“

326 Garden St #11, Carlstadt“We tried two other taekwondo places before we came here. The master is extremely friendly and helpful. My kids love here. In fact, my second son wants to become a taekwondo master when he grows up. Finally we found a great place to learn taekwondo.“

1 W Forest Ave, Englewood“We’ve had a wonderful experience with my son’s kendo lessons. Master Kim is patient, respectful, and incredibly skilled at working with children. He creates a structured yet encouraging environment that teaches not only kendo techniques, but also discipline, focus, confidence, and respect for others.
My son looks forward to every class and has grown so much — both physically and mentally — since starting. Master Kim takes the time to guide each student and make sure they feel supported, regardless of skill level. It’s clear he truly cares about the students and the art of kendo.
I highly recommend these lessons to any parent looking for a meaningful and enriching martial arts experience for their child.“

9 North Airmont Road, 2nd Floor Suite #220, Suffern“I cannot say enough wonderful things about NY United BJJ. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed, supported, and part of a community that truly cares. The instructors are not only highly skilled in Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling, but also deeply compassionate and patient, creating an environment where every child, regardless of ability, can thrive.
What makes this facility truly special is its commitment to inclusivity. My son is on the spectrum and the instructors, (all fathers themselves), have been nothing short of amazing. The instructors understand that every child learns differently and tailor their approach to build confidence, discipline, and resilience at a pace that suits each individual. Watching my child gain strength, focus, and self-confidence has been the most rewarding and I'm forever grateful to Khyl, Marty and Al for helping my son develop these attributes.
Beyond the skills learned on the mat, NY United BJJ teaches invaluable life lessons of respect, perseverance, and gratitude. It’s a place where kids feel seen, encouraged, and celebrated for who they are. If you’re looking for a Jiu-Jitsu school that nurtures both skill and heart, this is the place to be.“

All the instructors are very well trained and patience with the little ones. Shihan Baxter is world-renowned but still has time to teach the little dragons.“

6677A Broadway, Bronx“I was searching for a female-friendly space to learn self-defense when I found this gym, and it has easily been one of my best finds of 2025. Coaches Jhaydon and Orlando are exceptional—supportive, encouraging, and highly skilled. Their coaching in Muay Thai and BJJ has helped me build confidence while training in an environment that is both welcoming and disciplined. I’m equally grateful for the community here; it’s a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported as I learn. If you’re a woman looking for an MMA gym, I can’t recommend this place enough.“

38 S Dean St, Englewood“I have my twins enrolled at Tiger Schulmann’s, and in a few weeks I’ve already noticed a positive difference in their coordination and overall confidence. The instructors do an amazing job encouraging growth while also keeping the environment supportive, motivating and fun! The instructors genuinely care, and it is obvious in the way they work with each child in every single class.
My son is becoming more resilient and confident and my daughter, is starting to feel more comfortable and positive about herself. It’s been great to see both of them grow, not just physically but mentally.
Overall, we are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this located to all parents. 🥋🌟“

145 Palisade St, Dobbs Ferry“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Edge! I have 2 young children at Edge and they are thriving. Karate, overall, seems great for kids' development, but the team at Edge is extra special.
My children have had Senseis Eric and Jackie and both are really wonderful with young children. My Littles have wildly different personalities, and both are thriving due to the way Edge folks instruct, support, and guide them. The Senseis make the inherent challenge of karate (emotionally) safe and accessible to even young children. We are delighted to continue karate at Edge and tell our friends to come join us!“

My child althought he likes to goof around has learned respect, boundaries and discipline here. Master Jerry is so good with kids, he is strict, but playful and the kids feel safe and eager to learn with him. We really enjoy coming in for classes, soon our daughter will be joining the studio as well. We highly recommend this studio.“

“Joining Velella Martial Arts has been an incredible experience for both me and my son. Training with Guy has been a game changer — I’ve lost 11 pounds so far, and more importantly, I feel stronger, healthier, and more consistent than I have in years.
Guy really knows how to tailor workouts to your goals and push you in a way that’s motivating, not overwhelming. The atmosphere is focused but welcoming, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his clients’ progress.
My son is also training here as he prepares to head to USMMA this fall, and the conditioning, discipline, and strength work he’s getting is exactly what he needs. We’re both seeing real results! Thank you Guy!“
