474 Livingston St, Norwood“My daughter loves her taekwondo classes. She began in an enrichment class offered by iPlus One Academy down the road, and continued during the summer at the studio. Master Isaac is wonderful with the children, and an exemplary instructor. These classes have helped my daughter with her confidence, listening skills, and physical strength. The belt testings are very organized, and create great memories. I would recommend Master J to anyone considering learning or enrolling their children in taekwondo!“

730 NY-304, New City“I absolutely love coming to this school. I came here 6 years ago with the goal of wanting to learn self-defense with absolutely no prior athletic experience. I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and students, who were so kind and patient while working with me. I’m so happy I stayed and continue to practice my skills. The community here feels like family and I have made long lasting friendships here. If you are an adult who needs to find a healthy “third space” Renzo Gracie Rockland is the place to be!
Also, the owners, Omar and Arelis Jimenez are amazing people. They really care for all their students and want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe in the environment. Safety is very important in this school.“

1 W Forest Ave, Englewood“We’ve had a wonderful experience with my son’s kendo lessons. Master Kim is patient, respectful, and incredibly skilled at working with children. He creates a structured yet encouraging environment that teaches not only kendo techniques, but also discipline, focus, confidence, and respect for others.
My son looks forward to every class and has grown so much — both physically and mentally — since starting. Master Kim takes the time to guide each student and make sure they feel supported, regardless of skill level. It’s clear he truly cares about the students and the art of kendo.
I highly recommend these lessons to any parent looking for a meaningful and enriching martial arts experience for their child.“

9 North Airmont Road, 2nd Floor Suite #220, Suffern“I cannot say enough wonderful things about NY United BJJ. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed, supported, and part of a community that truly cares. The instructors are not only highly skilled in Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling, but also deeply compassionate and patient, creating an environment where every child, regardless of ability, can thrive.
What makes this facility truly special is its commitment to inclusivity. My son is on the spectrum and the instructors, (all fathers themselves), have been nothing short of amazing. The instructors understand that every child learns differently and tailor their approach to build confidence, discipline, and resilience at a pace that suits each individual. Watching my child gain strength, focus, and self-confidence has been the most rewarding and I'm forever grateful to Khyl, Marty and Al for helping my son develop these attributes.
Beyond the skills learned on the mat, NY United BJJ teaches invaluable life lessons of respect, perseverance, and gratitude. It’s a place where kids feel seen, encouraged, and celebrated for who they are. If you’re looking for a Jiu-Jitsu school that nurtures both skill and heart, this is the place to be.“

6677A Broadway, Bronx“I was searching for a female-friendly space to learn self-defense when I found this gym, and it has easily been one of my best finds of 2025. Coaches Jhaydon and Orlando are exceptional—supportive, encouraging, and highly skilled. Their coaching in Muay Thai and BJJ has helped me build confidence while training in an environment that is both welcoming and disciplined. I’m equally grateful for the community here; it’s a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported as I learn. If you’re a woman looking for an MMA gym, I can’t recommend this place enough.“

The instructors do an amazing job encouraging growth while also keeping the environment supportive, motivating and fun! The instructors genuinely care, and it is obvious in the way they work with each child in every single class.
My son is becoming more resilient and confident and my daughter, is starting to feel more comfortable and positive about herself. It’s been great to see both of them grow, not just physically but mentally.
Overall, we are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this located to all parents. 🥋🌟“

This outstanding school has not only equipped him with self-defense skills but has also instilled in him essential life lessons, such as emotional control, discipline, and perseverance.
The teachings at Kim’s Martial Arts go beyond physical training; they empower children to view challenges as opportunities for growth. My son now approaches problems with courage and confidence, all while embodying humility and kindness.
I wholeheartedly recommend Master Kim’s Dojo. Master Paul and the other instructors exemplify grace, kindness, and patience in their teaching methods, nurturing the students into remarkable young adults. The impact of their guidance is profound and lasting.
If you’re considering a martial arts school for your child, look no further than Kim’s Martial Arts!“

My child althought he likes to goof around has learned respect, boundaries and discipline here. Master Jerry is so good with kids, he is strict, but playful and the kids feel safe and eager to learn with him. We really enjoy coming in for classes, soon our daughter will be joining the studio as well. We highly recommend this studio.“

200 Kinderkamack Rd, Emerson“I attended this martial art’s school when I was around 8 up until I was 18 and left for college. Im currently 29, and what I learned shaped my confidence, mindset, and physical well-being for my entire life.
This martial arts school does so much more than just teach you how to kick or punch. It teaches you how to carry yourself, how to treat others, and how to be aware of those around you. Most importantly though, it gives you the confidence to know that you can protect the people you love if you ever need to.
I would really encourage any parent out there to sign their child up for this school. I haven’t attended a class in nearly 10 years, but I still remember what I learned, and the Sensei that guided me during my time there.“

Located conveniently in Palisades Park, it features many high level kenshi and an awesome master. I love the disciplined culture and the intensity of the practice here. Master Joe is excellent with kids of all types; he helped bring out my quiet child's voice, and helped my bold child learn focus. They are both showing a greater understanding of the martial arts values like humility and perseverance, at home too. The lessons they learn here (physical and emotional) have literally helped me parent them through some kid-sized life difficulties! It’s clear Master Joe truly cares about each student. He is even a thoughtful teacher to the older kids / student teachers he is developing along the way.“
