969M Central Park Ave, Scarsdale“My son and daughter have been attending Master Kim's Scarsdale Taekwondo for about a year now, and I am so glad we started. They’ve tried other sports, but Taekwondo is by far their favorite. It’s wonderful to see them enjoying it so much and always trying their best. What I love most is the instructors—you can tell they truly love kids, and they teach with so much energy and friendliness. I am incredibly satisfied and highly recommend this place!“

474 Livingston St, Norwood“My daughter loves her taekwondo classes. She began in an enrichment class offered by iPlus One Academy down the road, and continued during the summer at the studio. Master Isaac is wonderful with the children, and an exemplary instructor. These classes have helped my daughter with her confidence, listening skills, and physical strength. The belt testings are very organized, and create great memories. I would recommend Master J to anyone considering learning or enrolling their children in taekwondo!“

Master Dan and Ms. April are strict but at the same time make it a fun atmosphere. It's great to see my son practicing his kicks and punches at home.“

They create a positive, encouraging, and fun environment while teaching discipline, respect, and confidence. My daughter always looks forward to going to class and is excited to learn new skills each week. We've seen so much growth in her since she started. We are very grateful for Master Shin and the whole team and highly recommend United Taekwondo to any family looking for a great martial arts program!“

1 W Forest Ave, Englewood“We’ve had a wonderful experience with my son’s kendo lessons. Master Kim is patient, respectful, and incredibly skilled at working with children. He creates a structured yet encouraging environment that teaches not only kendo techniques, but also discipline, focus, confidence, and respect for others.
My son looks forward to every class and has grown so much — both physically and mentally — since starting. Master Kim takes the time to guide each student and make sure they feel supported, regardless of skill level. It’s clear he truly cares about the students and the art of kendo.
I highly recommend these lessons to any parent looking for a meaningful and enriching martial arts experience for their child.“

1550 Central Park Ave, Yonkers“My son started karate here over a year ago and we couldn't be happier. Signed my daughter up once she turned 4. All the instructors are very well trained and patience with the little ones. Shihan Baxter is world-renowned but still has time to teach the little dragons.“
“My child has been going to these classes for 9 months ! He's had a lot of fun and he's focused more in his school, I really recommend these classes for your kids!“
1 - 8PM
45 Kraft Ave, Bronxville“Love this place. Very well run. Master Oh and his teachers are the best mix of discipline and encouragement. Recommend trying it out for a few weeks. Lots of younger children but also some teens and adults. Bronxville location is convenient and the Dojang is large and very clean. My son loves it there.“
11AM - 8:30PM
6677A Broadway, Bronx“I was searching for a female-friendly space to learn self-defense when I found this gym, and it has easily been one of my best finds of 2025. Coaches Jhaydon and Orlando are exceptional—supportive, encouraging, and highly skilled. Their coaching in Muay Thai and BJJ has helped me build confidence while training in an environment that is both welcoming and disciplined. I’m equally grateful for the community here; it’s a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported as I learn. If you’re a woman looking for an MMA gym, I can’t recommend this place enough.“
10AM - 9:30PM
38 S Dean St, Englewood“I have my twins enrolled at Tiger Schulmann’s, and in a few weeks I’ve already noticed a positive difference in their coordination and overall confidence. The instructors do an amazing job encouraging growth while also keeping the environment supportive, motivating and fun! The instructors genuinely care, and it is obvious in the way they work with each child in every single class.
My son is becoming more resilient and confident and my daughter, is starting to feel more comfortable and positive about herself. It’s been great to see both of them grow, not just physically but mentally.
Overall, we are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this located to all parents. 🥋🌟“

145 Palisade St, Dobbs Ferry“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Edge! I have 2 young children at Edge and they are thriving. Karate, overall, seems great for kids' development, but the team at Edge is extra special.
My children have had Senseis Eric and Jackie and both are really wonderful with young children. My Littles have wildly different personalities, and both are thriving due to the way Edge folks instruct, support, and guide them. The Senseis make the inherent challenge of karate (emotionally) safe and accessible to even young children. We are delighted to continue karate at Edge and tell our friends to come join us!“

4 - 10PM
6529 John F. Kennedy Blvd Floor 1, North Bergen“Incredible! Everyone here, from the instructors, to the owners are humble and want to help you out. I knew I wanted to be active but was not wanting to go to a traditional gym. Glad I stopped by and signed up. My favorite part is there are other people here in the same boat as me, looking to make a change and be around like minded individuals. There’s no pressure and you are never forced into contact or anything that makes you uncomfortable. It’s nice when your “no face hits” boundary is respected. 5 stars!“

Located conveniently in Palisades Park, it features many high level kenshi and an awesome master. I love the disciplined culture and the intensity of the practice here. I strongly recommend it to any serious kendoka looking for a traditional and challenging training environment!“
6AM - 8PM
200 Kinderkamack Rd, Emerson“I attended this martial art’s school when I was around 8 up until I was 18 and left for college. Im currently 29, and what I learned shaped my confidence, mindset, and physical well-being for my entire life.
This martial arts school does so much more than just teach you how to kick or punch. It teaches you how to carry yourself, how to treat others, and how to be aware of those around you. Most importantly though, it gives you the confidence to know that you can protect the people you love if you ever need to.
I would really encourage any parent out there to sign their child up for this school. I haven’t attended a class in nearly 10 years, but I still remember what I learned, and the Sensei that guided me during my time there.“
3 - 9PM
2117 Williamsbridge Rd, Bronx“This gym is good, brather. Many bag, strong coach, but some people not listen, you know? I come every day because I am UFC champ, nobody can smash me here, only bag can smash. Sparring is not easy, brather—sometimes guy go crazy, think he is Conor, but I just wrestle, smash, and everybody humble after.Coach say “throw jab,” but I say to coach, “I am UFC champ, I throw what I want.” Brather, locker room is clean, but shower not so hot—you must be tough. If tired, you do like me: just brather. Drink water, brather, and come back tomorrow. Everybody respect UFC champ, everybody want picture, brather. Come to this gym, become mountain, become humble, and just brather.“
9AM - 12PM
428 Teaneck Rd, Ridgefield Park“Sensei Zumo came highly recommended by our friend, Robert. We are very glad we signed up our 12 year old son. Sensei creates a welcoming and respectful environment while maintaining high standards and discipline on the mat.
He takes the time to make sure every student understands the fundamentals and improves at their own pace. We highly recommend this school to anyone.“
