Custom Paving is terrific. They are fair and reasonable and do very good work. Barry the owner is very personable and is on top of taking care of his customers. His sons JJ and Joe are an integral part of the paving operations. The fruit does not fall from the tree. I found this company to be very dependable and they are proud of the paving work they do, and they should be. I highly recommend them.
I don't think there's enough space for me to write enough GREAT things I would like to write about Benchmark Builders. I have never built a new home before, and I also did not have a giant budget. I am not experienced in the homebuilding process, either! I bought my lot a year or two prior to building, and Benchmark was one of the first builders I called to ask about the possibilities of building on this lot, before I even bought it. Sharon offered to take a drive over and look at it after work that day, and contacted me to let me know it looked like a good location. When I was ready to build, they were ready to start! They helped me through the process of gathering budget information for my construction loan, and went over and above from a planning standpoint to assist me in ensuring that my house would fit on my small lot -- along with a septic system. They pulled in some big favors as well, to help execute a new survey quickly.
Once building started, I was amazed at how seamlessly the process flowed. Benchmark Builders knows this business very well, and they knew how to orchestrate dozens of moving parts to accommodate changes in my plans, changes in the weather, and they also adapted well to changes in budget as needed. I always felt like I could change things if I needed to, without repercussion, and they were straightforward with additional costs or savings at any time. Nobody can predict exact cost on any build, especially with such a fluctuating market, but they did their best, and this is partly where their immense experience showed through.
They made excellent recommendations about the build from start to end, and offered ideas that would assist me in saving money long-term, including 2 x 6 wall construction which would accommodate better insulation, the grading of the house location, and foundation planning, to allow for a bit more headspace in the crawlspace, as well as other things that you just don't think about if you're not familiar with building a house from scratch. Whenever we encountered problems with something on my plans or with a material source, they had solutions ready for me to consider.
Benchmark has an exceptional array of resources, from the teams they utilize for the labor, to the local providers (lumber, flooring, kitchen cabinetry and countertops, etc.) who could best outfit me with everything I needed for this build. I felt secure in contacting anyone they recommended, and in the products and services that were delivered.
The build was completed early, partly because I was pretty disciplined about not spending extra money or altering decisions that would impact the timeline --but also because of the well-oiled machine that is the Benchmark planning and implementation process. Everything stayed pretty well on track (even with the usual weather issues and unpredictability that comes with building), and they delivered on everything that I was promised in this home.
After moving in, there were a few minor glitches with plumbing and a minor washing machine hookup issue, but they were fixed immediately and with priority attention by Benchmark. It is very clear to me that they stand behind their work, and their strong relationships with their service partners provide huge benefits to hiring Benchmark for a new build. Even six months later, when I was concerned about something with the air conditioner, they responded immediately and connected me with the air conditioning folks, who worked with me to remedy the issue.
The one thing that is hard to quantify, but I feel is so important, is the human side of things. Working with the family that runs Benchmark felt very personal, yet professional. There is a great deal of respect and care given to everything that they do, and in their interactions with each other and with me. While on a trip, we google searched native plants nearby and called a couple in search of scrubby St. John’s wort, a plant we’d admired at the resort we’d just stayed at. This owner did indeed have some, so we reset our driving directions as she wasn’t too far off 95-S. We were greeted friendly by Macee doggy and the lady owner, who had already pulled some pots for us in the ready. We took a look around and bought some other native plants. I mentioned that I liked succulents too, and the next thing I knew, she was giving me a little flat of Hen & Chicks! If you’re passing by this area of 95, get off the highway and go check them out, but call first as she’s sometimes out on deliveries. Super place in the country!!
Over the years and in different locations , we've had several good lawn care services. None of them compare to the quality of work done by Dandy! He is always prepared to do what ever we need in a timely and professional manner. We are very lucky to have him take care of our property!

I am sending voluminous THANKS to all those Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy therapists that got me through a full shoulder replacement in less time and with more success than most would think possible at my age. On the 4th of August I was able to play 18 holes of golf with no pain, no strain, just lots of fun outdoors with good friends. That was my goal and Smoky Mountain Sports got that done for me. All the therapists that worked with me are professionally excellent and actually became friends of sorts during the rehab period. Lots of laughter during a hard recovery. With Carlyle leading the pack, he and the staff got me back on the golf course (and paddling on the river) and I am forever thankful to all of them. And a huge Thank You to Dr. Gates and his staff at Harris Orthopedics for their surgical excellence and their collaboration with Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy to get me back to enjoying activities that I was not sure I would ever be able to enjoy again.

My haircut was exactly as I wanted it. Erin is so sweet and personable. I have tried other salons who did not really listen to me and did what they thought was best. I can very safely say that Erin at Victorias Hair Studio treated me with respect and gave me the exact cut I have been wanting!! I cannot recommend her enough! It's difficult to find a stylist who can do alternative cuts, but Erin is up for the challenge and knows exactly what she's doing. If you have needs for a goth or alternative haircut please give her a try! I can't wait to see what my hair does when it's dry.

My son with autism has always had a hard time with having his hair cut and up until recently we could visit the barber shop I was so nervous on how he would do he is terrified! The barber that cut his hair was so gentle caring and patient with my son! I have taken him here twice now without a problem he takes his time with my son and makes it a good experience I can’t recommend this place enough!

I love this salon! Mariana does my hair, she's always done a wonderful job. I decided to go to a different salon because it was close to my house and I was very disappointed!!! I had to go to Mariana to fix it!! She did amazing!!! If your hair turns orange or red when you try and go light blonde, like mine does, Mariana is your girl!!! She also is amazing with cuts! I was so impressed by Aimee’s talent and the care she put into my memorial tattoo for my daughter. On small details that most artists would probably not notice or blow past, she took the time to ask questions and really study my daughter’s actual hand and footprints on the card I brought in. I can’t thank her enough for her time and effort on such a meaningful piece, I LOVE it and will cherish it forever.

Mike, the owner, came out quickly to assess our needs. He was back out the next day to hookup our kitchen plumbing from where we had had countertops installed. He had the project completed so quickly that we were amazed. We found Mike to be so friendly and highly competent. So glad that I have a new local plumber for my future needs. Michael Villazon & Crew came thru for us today! Our vacation rental guests called late Friday afternoon to say the water pressure was low and there was not enough water coming in to flush the toilets. After a call to the city of Waynesville Water Dept & a confirmation later that night that our pressure from the street was good we had to find someone willing to track down a water pump booster and install it - over the weekend after hours - to provide our guests with what they paid for to stay with us. Villazon did not have a pump in the warehouse but called their plumbing rep and tracked one down for us, drove from Waynesville to Asheville & back and installed the new pump in record time. A BIG thanks to Jarrett who made 2 trips to our house to determine the problem & then back again to do the install. Such a polite & professional young man who stayed in touch with me by phone for all the updates. THANK YOU MICHAEL, MEGAN IN THE OFFICE AND JARRETT FOR THE EXCELLENT SERVICE!
I had my crawl space encapsulated a week ago and found water on the new plastic. I found it was coming from the valve on the water heater. Steve from Western Carolina Plumbing was next door working on their plumbing issue. I walked over and asked for information to schedule a time to have them come out and look at my plumbing issue. He said he would come right over and look at it. Once he was done next door, he came over and replaced the valve and rerouted the drain out of the crawl space and to a proper drain. He was very knowledgeable, professional and kind. He also checked other pipes in my crawl space I had concerns about. He was a huge help and took a huge load off my mind by helping immediately. Western Carolina Plumbing is now my go-to for any plumbing needs in the future.

Chris at A1 was top of the line! Thought we needed a new refrigerator, he looked at it and said 100$ part will fix it... and it did. When part arrived, he scheduled a time to do the 10 min. Install of the part! Working like a charm since then! Thanks Chris.
The tech that came to our home was great. He explained everything but we had to wait 2 weeks for the parts for the dryer and then they rescheduled for 4 more days. Great tech but way to long to wait to get it fixed. Giving a 4 star for the tech only.
Donna and her team have been caring for our two story 3500 SF historic home in Maggie Valley since last summer. We feel very good about her work and dedication. It is an old house with some quirks, and we feel comfortable knowing that she maintains it both for our family visits four times a year and our short term rental guests. Since we do not live here full time, that trust is especially important.

I want to take a moment to share how much I appreciate every single person I have spoke to and delt with at this office. Every interaction I had with *every* staff member (receptionist, hygienist, assistant, and doctor alike) were all extremely pleasant. I have pretty severe anxiety, especially concerning medical offices, and everyone at JFD did an absolutely phenomenal job of making my visits there as easy going as possible while also addressing all of my concerns no matter how silly.
I had an more unusual dental situation that needed addressing and I feel that JFD got me fixed up quickly, efficiently, and at a very reasonable cost. I really appreciate that they were more than willing to work with me to ensure I got in quickly and make sure my fittings were comfortable and my bite was correct- especially when I alerted them to some sensory issues I was having. The staff was always patient, warm, kind, professional, and I never once felt judged or shamed for my (admittedly) infrequent dental visits, cleanings, and overall care over the years.
Prior to JFD I had had some rather unpleasant dental office experiences that really made me avoid going to a dentist unless I absolutely had to... but I can genuinely say that after getting a cleaning, fillings, and a crown placement here, I wish I had known about JFD sooner. I might have been more inclined to better care for my teeth (as I plan to going forward) if I had known it could be as easy and minimally stressful as they have made it for me.
I can't thank you guys enough for helping me overcome my anxieties, care for my smile, and for having a great attitude towards your patients. ♡

Only giving 4 stars right now because I am still very hesitant. Today my boys had an appointment for the first time in a while. Our past experiences here had turned me away. Decided to give them another try and I will say I was very pleased with the difference. The staff was much friendlier and Misty did an amazing job explaining everything to me. She did the leg work to finally get my boys set up for dental surgeries they have been needing. Chase was also very friendly and gave me more control over how to go about my older son’s treatment. I’m still weary because I would hate to see them start going back to how it used to be.

My fur baby, Brewster was sick for 2.5 days vomiting and bad poops. We were able to get an appointment at 4:00 pm Thursday, October 10th. After Dr. Hammet took his temperature and blood sample she diagnosis Gastro enteritis, dietary indiscretion. She did a though exam. See photo. She said Brewster has the best mommies. Sent us home with special canned diet food. Also, hydrated him under the skin and administered Cerenia to stop nausea and vomiting.
Balsam Animal Hospital has always been fantastic with/to our pets, treating them with love and giving them a lot of attention. Couldn't ask for better care!
Honestly the assistant tried charging for unnecessary things but the vet actually told her there was no use for fecal exam etc. bc he was prescribing interceptor witch takes care of everything. Went from over 250 to about 110. I was very happy with his treatment of my pup.
Dr. Olinde is absolutely amazing. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable but she is also very personable and provides excellent care. We had a surprise complicated visit recently and Dr. Olinde provided me with education during the visit, called me with my cat’s lab results, and emailed me with a detailed care plan moving forward. We just had our first follow up visit and Dr. Olinde was spot on with her treatment plan. I cannot brag enough on her medical knowledge as well as her personality. If there were more stars, she’d get them!
Also, the staff is extremely friendly! The scheduling is the easiest of anywhere I’ve seen - you can call or book online. Best of both worlds. Another note - we don’t come here just because it’s close to our house…. I drive a solid 40 minutes because it’s worth it for regular vet needs!
