364 Boylston St 4th Floor, Boston“I’ve been coming to this gym for about a year now, and it has completely transformed how I feel about fitness. Grayson has been my main personal trainer, and he’s genuinely exceptional — consistently prepared, incredibly knowledgeable, and always able to strike that perfect balance between pushing me and supporting me. He pays attention to the details, adjusts sessions based on how I’m feeling that day, and explains the “why” behind every movement. Training with him has made me stronger, more confident, and way more consistent with my routine than I ever thought I’d be.
I’ve also had a few sessions with Chi and Aidan, and each of them brings something unique to the table. Chi, who’s also the owner, deserves a special mention. He’s incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely cares about every person who walks in. You can feel that the community and atmosphere here come directly from his leadership and personality.
The gym is clean, welcoming, and never overcrowded. Workouts are tailored, effective, and actually enjoyable. After a year here, I genuinely look forward to training and feel better than ever.
Couldn’t recommend this place more — if you’re looking for real personal training with trainers who truly care, this is the spot“

19 New Salem St, Wakefield“Every class at Pedro’s Judo is a learning experience not just for the students, but for the parents too. My wife and I absolutely love this Judo center. The environment is incredibly welcoming — it truly feels like a family. The instructors are phenomenal, and many of them have children of their own, so they know exactly how to connect with and motivate kids in a positive, disciplined way. You can see the pride and passion they put into every lesson, building confidence, respect, and focus in every student. It’s amazing to watch how much progress the kids make, both on and off the mat. Pedro’s Judo isn’t just about martial arts — it’s about character, community, and growth. We couldn’t be happier to have our family be part of this place!“

618 Gallivan Blvd, Boston“I’ve been attending the adult strength & conditioning classes with Master Gomes for years, and they’ve been nothing short of transformative. Master Gomes is an exceptional motivator who knows exactly how to bring out the best in each participant. His ability to recognize individual strengths and weaknesses, ensures everyone gets personalized attention. He’s a highly knowledgeable coach and strength trainer and places strong emphasis on injury prevention, which gave me confidence to push myself safely. The classes are fun, engaging, and highly effective—I’ve felt my strength & agility improve significantly. Highly recommend to anyone looking to work out in a supportive, dynamic environment. As a side note, I’m feeling stronger than my identical twin - who agrees (and who’s currently sidelined with an injury from working out at a different facility)!“

102 Brookline Ave, Boston“I joined the Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-do Institute's Boston location approximately six months ago, entering as a novice with no prior experience in taekwondo or any martial arts. Despite not being in the younger age demographic, I was nervous about starting this journey, especially uncertain of my capabilities. However, I can confidently say that this decision has proven to be one of the most rewarding of my life.I have had the privilege and honor of being taught by Master Kim and received unparalleled instructions from him. I am always amazed by Master Kim's remarkable ability to recall every student's name and closely monitor individual progress, always giving a sense of personalized attention, even amidst a diverse class of varying belt levels. Throughout the past six months, I have felt nurtured, mentored, motivated, and have learned five forms and many taekwondo skills under Master Kim's guidance. Not to mention getting a great workout! But this is not all. Here are other reasons why this school stands out:1. The school accommodates flexible class schedules for both students and professionals with a class timetable designed to suit diverse schedules.2. The school fosters a friendly and uplifting culture, where every member feels part of a supportive family. Both my peers and Master Kim consistently inspire me to strive for excellence and continual improvement.3. The school offers sparring classes. Despite initial reservations, participating in sparring sessions has enriched my experience and contributed significantly to my development as a martial artist.4. The school offers classes on Zoom!In summary, my journey at Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-do Institute has exceeded all expectations, thanks to the exceptional instruction, supportive community, and diverse learning opportunities offered by this esteemed institution.“

363D Centre St, Jamaica Plain“Would recommend this place for a variety of reasons: it's a relatively supportive environment; right now as of October 25, 2024, their ju-jitsu class has a reasonable level of participants, so you'll find practitioners of varying skill level. For kickboxing, it's a cardio-demanding martial art so expect to prepare yourself to be sweating. Some tips from someone who has been going for over 7 months for kickboxing: Buy hand-wraps either on Amazon or at the dojo, gloves, a water bottle and when you get in there, if you plan on sticking it out for a while, ask to be put in their email system so in the case that the dojo is closed ahead of time, you'd know. The website schedule isn't as fully up-to-date, it's better if you email them for an updated schedule. Currently it's $120 per martial art per month, but there have been some exceptions here and there, it's better if you speak with them in person/on the phone for financial payment clarification. I can talk forever with a bunch of other things but this is too long already. Have fun!“
“David is an amazing instructor, very chill guy he makes sure his students are safe and take in as much info as possible in one hour just Amazing.“

408 Highland Ave, Somerville“Excellent school with wonderful instructors! My kids have attended for years, with my daughter is currently working on her black belt. The instructors get to know each student and support and challenge them in a very caring, thoughtful way. Students learn Kung Fu forms and self-defence, and increase fitness and flexilibity. But perhaps more importantly, they develop life skills: confidence, respect, self-respect, perseverence when working towards a new goal, and the joy and pride when reaching that goal. All while learning to be patient with themselves and others. The amazing staff at Davis Square Martial Arts were living the Growth Mindset long before it became a buzzword in education.I take the parents' class, which is an inspiring mix of martial arts, self-defence, personal training, and parenting therapy. And you get to kick stuff:) Pretty awesome! And a lovely community too.“
5:30AM - 9PM
92 Franklin St, Quincy“I’ve been going here since for 12 years. Great family atmosphere, top notch coaches with tons of experience, great mix of competitive fighters and enthusiasts. No egos. Welcoming to all. But still pumps out UFC; fighters and Muay Thai champions. The opposite of a McDojo.“

The lessons are fun, engaging, and well-structured, helping to build confidence, discipline, and respect. Sensei is patient, encouraging, and truly cares about each student’s progress. “I researched karate dojos around the area for my son and enrolled him in the trial program at Keefe’s Martial Arts to see if he will like karate. He loved it. Sensei John does a wonderful job with the kids, he holds their attention in a participative, energetic, and fun way. Over time I saw my son - and the other kids too, transform. They gained self-control, skill, and confidence. During Covid, I highly appreciated that Sensei John provided online classes as well as outdoors sessions. It was safe, no one quit, and no one got sick. The kids learned to strive for normalcy when nothing else was normal. Kids build character at KMA.“
6 - 8PM
215 First St, Cambridge“A great community first and then a martial arts school that teaches and fosters respect. My oldest child has been attending the school for 8 years and the youngest for 4 years now and they have both learned the values and rewards of discipline and respect while learning self defense and practicing skills and making friendships that will last a lifetime. What truly sets the school apart from other martial art's schools around it, is that it is taught by adults who volunteer their time and effort and do not get paid for it. You only pay the gym for the access to to gym premises and that fee goes only to the gym and not to the Cambridge Tang Soo Do, so it is not based in profits but simply on the passion of good hearted people. I urge people to come and see and learn more about it.“
5 - 8PM
7 River St, Boston“Come join the best martial arts class in town. Helping to build confidence in our youth to help them become who they strive to be. The best instructors around and Kyoshi is one of a kind. I wish I could tell you more but I don’t want to spoil all the fun. Come down and check it out for yourself. Just a trial run will have you joining and that I stand firm on.“

The school emphasizes discipline, respect, and personal growth, etc., creating an excellent environment for both beginners and advanced practitioners. The facility is always clean and well-maintained, and the class schedules are flexible, accommodating various skill levels and age groups. I highly recommend Champion Taekwondo Academy in Dorchester to anyone looking to learn and grow in the art of Taekwondo.“
