“Bobby and his family/staff are amazing! My son was a member at Bushido Martial Arts for almost 5 years. Its been a wonderful experience watching him learn and grow in Katate. Bobby has been extremely supportive and kind over the years, helping us find our way with scheduling and my son's apprehensions. I would recommend Bushido to anyone who's interested in Martial Arts. They have a variety of classes for all ages. Once you join, you're family!!“

911 Main St, Woburn“My daughter (6) has been attending classes at Fenix Woburn for 2 years, and my son (4) has been attending classes for 1 year. I have seen a tremendous increase in their confidence and social skills since they began classes. All of the Fenix coaches are wonderful with the kids. They create fun, structured classes that helped the kids learn Jiu Jitsu and how to behave in a class setting. I would recommend Fenix to anyone (adult or child) who want to be part of a supportive community while learning important life skills!“

I found Chi at Clientel3 and things changed almost overnight. I've stopped wearing the braces. I am walking, granted slowly because my feel still drop and I am prone to tripping, but what a difference! My attitude and confidence are up also. I continue to work on it and expect to continue to improve. Chi and his team are the BEST!“

26 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington“What a special place! This is easily the best gym I’ve ever trained at. The facilities, instructors, atmosphere, and teammates are all top notch. It can be difficult to balance a competitive and safe culture, but Mike and Christie have done an excellent job creating such a space. The variety of instructors and classes means that anyone can find their perfect schedule here. There’s also an outstanding variety of women to train with and I never feel alone on the mat. This gym has spoiled me and I fear I can never leave!“

Overall very safe place and great competitive atmosphere for all levels. Amazing work with children and they're advanced classes look amazing. They are very skilled teachers and know how to get the best out of everyone, the nervousness goes away with time and self confidance boost from the children to the people up in age is fun to see.“

Manny is energetic, Maia has great knowledge and really help improve combo moves, Tim is really passionate and will push you beyond what you think you are capable of and Chris has the best music and will show life scenarios to associate punches.“
12 - 7:30PM
102 Brookline Ave, Boston“This school truly is a special hidden gem nestled in the heart of Boston. What started as a random burst of curiosity and whim has turned into a reignition of a childhood passion, a community I am excited to join every evening in class, and a newfound confidence in my mind and body.
All the classes are taught by phenomenal instructors who are incredibly skilled, patient, and kind, not the least of which being the legendary Grandmaster Kim who's passion for teaching, learning, and supporting others is damn near infectious. What you learn isn't how to hurt people and punch a bag a thousand times, but how to truly hone your body and mind, how to discipline yourself and choose your battles wisely, and most importantly how to move through the world with confidence that you can do anything you set your mind to.
This institute has gifted me one of the first communities I found since moving to Boston I really felt I belonged at and will always hold a special place in my heart.“
9AM - 9PM
36 Spinelli Pl, Cambridge“Sensei Bobby brings a wealth of experience to his teachings and a generosity that is refreshing to see these days. The kids martial arts program at AMAC is top-notch and applies to kids of every level while also challenging them in a way that makes them want to continue to learn and grow. My daughter was a complete beginner with no coordination at age 4 just under a year ago and is now a leader in the little dragons class. It is truly incredible to see her grow in self-defense, sparring, confidence, and overall martial arts practices. I especially value that Sensei Bobby has created a space where people from all walks of life are welcome and treated like family. This place is a hidden gem in our community. If you’re on the fence, take the leap :)“

He started at Cervizzi Martial Arts in February and we have seen him grow into this confident little boy. He looks forward to class on Wednesday and Saturdays. It has taught him to never give up and always keep practicing. He even practicing at home and sometimes on his sister lol. He loves his teacher Shihan Diana, who is amazing with the kids and my son loves her! Thank you so much, Shihan Paul, Shihan Diana and the rest of Cervizzi for making my son believe in himself at such a young age! 🥰“

“Shihan Colleen is the best! My daughter has been attending her classes for over two years, and we couldn’t be happier. She is not only an outstanding instructor, but also a wonderful role model for the kids. She is also very flexible and accommodating with schedule conflicts. My daughter has gained so much confidence and genuinely looks forward to class every week. I highly recommend New Generation Martial Arts!“
4 - 8PM
363B Centre St, Jamaica Plain“Would recommend this place for a variety of reasons: it's a relatively supportive environment; right now as of October 25, 2024, their ju-jitsu class has a reasonable level of participants, so you'll find practitioners of varying skill level. For kickboxing, it's a cardio-demanding martial art so expect to prepare yourself to be sweating. Some tips from someone who has been going for over 7 months for kickboxing: Buy hand-wraps either on Amazon or at the dojo, gloves, a water bottle and when you get in there, if you plan on sticking it out for a while, ask to be put in their email system so in the case that the dojo is closed ahead of time, you'd know. The website schedule isn't as fully up-to-date, it's better if you email them for an updated schedule. Currently it's $120 per martial art per month, but there have been some exceptions here and there, it's better if you speak with them in person/on the phone for financial payment clarification. I can talk forever with a bunch of other things but this is too long already. Have fun!“
7:30 - 8:30AM
125 Walnut St, Watertown“Sifu Lindsay creates an environment where everyone is welcomed, respected, and encouraged to grow. Every session offers something new for learners at all levels.“
9AM - 9:30PM
66 Winchester St, Newton Highlands“Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy came to my company to help celebrate the Lunar New Year with their lion dance. We filled three floors of lobby space with our employees watching the performance and excitedly engaging with the lion. The way the lion interacted with the audience together with the music from the beating drums created such a fun and memorable experience for our employees. Thank you!“
12 - 2PM
1739 Centre St, West Roxbury“Both instructor Andrew and instructor John have an excellent sense of humor and tons of patience, while still taking martial arts training seriously and challenging kids to succeed. Both my daughters took lessons here and had a lot of fun while learning a ton.“
12 - 9PM
263 Main St, Stoneham“We have been so impressed by the program at Body Mind Systems. The instructors are well prepared, patient with children, and make it a fun class each week. Our son has grown so much as a person since attending BMS. I'm thankful for all of the effort the instructors put in to make it such a quality experience.“
“Steve Nugents karate Institute has 2 main karate schools or called "dojos", this one in Winchester and the main one on Cambridge Street in Burlington, Mass. They structure their programs around safety and awareness, overall respect, and good basic karate self defense skills. Their instructors led by Grandmaster Nugent are super trained, even in first aid and cpr, which I thought was excellent. They are super passionate and attentive toward their student and actually are quite caring, which I have never found in my searching for quality karate schools. Definitely check them out... I am very impressed !“
3:20 - 7:30PM
408 Highland Ave, Somerville“Imagine a martial art studio with zero macho BS, just wonderful human beings of all stripes & types enjoying a high quality and effective level of instruction in a truly fun and caring environment.
Great for adults & kids, there are a lot of students, but this is also clearly a secret gem that, if more people knew about, could easily blow up twice as big as it already is. I'm floored. And not for nothing, Kung Fu AND Tai Chi are freaking beautiful (and empowering) - at the end of class it feels better than yoga ever did (just my personal take - martial arts doesn't just strike a pose, it MOVES).
Davis Square Martial Arts is also terrific for all ages, the studio is very comfortably intergenerational (I'm 49), which I think is quite rare and special. Got an injury or limitation? They will remember and always try to work with it.
Gain balance, posture, a reinvigorated sense of your own movement, strength, and yeah, a splash of extra calm confidence you maybe forgot was in there (or had gotten beaten up by the world a bit). The instructors aren't overtly trying to be inspiring per se, they just show up authentically, and give, and it just happens organically. How cool is that.“

“I am in my late 50s and started training at Roshankish less than a year ago. I love it. It is a safe, fun, environment, and the instructors bring out the best in me. They have helped me to reach personal fitness levels that I would not be able to reach on my own.“
