I read some bad reviews about a waiver for an extra fee for a retinal screening which you can simply opt out of and get the traditional dilated eye exam. They’re just offering you a newer, less hassle screening if you want it. Definitely will be back again!“

“I have been going to Bill at Designer Optical for 23 years, since my daughter was a toddler with strabismus in both eyes (for which she had successful surgery). Her prescriptions were quite complicated and fittings took a great deal of timeBill always made her feel comfortable and made the appointments a special occasion.I told him that she could choose her own frames from the age of three, and we talked beforehand about which ones would be best for her to select from, he was most helpful, kind and patient. One of the things my daughter enjoyed the most after choosing her frames was getting to select her glasses case after her final fitting.Since our appointments took a bit of time I got to watch Bill interact with many other clients, all of whom seemed to view him as a friend, as our family does.So if you want professional and friendly service go to Designer Optical for a great selection of frames and highly personalized service.“

I went to 5 different doctors before I found this place and a pair of glasses and contacts that work. From the receptionist, to the glasses, to the doctor everything is top notch. “I have been a patient here since I was a child and have always loved this place. Dr. Ciampa is probably one of the kindest, down to earth, and knowledgeable doctors in her field that I have come to know. Whenever I have questions and curiosities, she explains them to me in an enthusiastic way that by the time I leave, I am left wondering why I didn't go down same career path! She makes eye health fun. She looks out for her patients in various ways, but specifically I do recall her gently reminding me every few years when I picked out a frame too thin that my prescription lenses would not sit well inside (I have thick lenses). She was also there to help me learn how to use contacts, which was very frustrating personally for me, but with her encouragement and a lot of practice, it worked out in the end! I could never imagine going to another place, I like it here too much and choose to still make the drive after moving almost 40 minutes away now that I have moved out and no longer reside in Melrose. I would HIGHLY recommend this establishment.“

I asked a simple question and he took the time to ensure we got the right nose grips and he even went above and beyond to clean my sons glasses and fix the grips. “Look at the low reviews. It has nothing to do with the cost or quality of the products. Of course Costco is busy; always has been. You want short lines, go to a high end place and pay 3 times the price, or buy online and roll the dice. I actually think their frame selection is limited and conservative, but again, always has been , so not going to sing them now for that.“

“I just wish the staff will be a little more apologetic for my experience of having eye sore immediately after trying on new lenses. They were not happy about me going back within 24 hours to inform them that the lenses they gave me had given me eye sore that significantly affected my work. They did say that maybe it is because I am putting it on at the end of the day. I have changed lenses 5 or 6 times in other places before. This has never happened. They changed it and gave me new lenses in 3 weeks . The new pair still gave me eye sore but I ended up trying it the next day in the morning. The eye sore went away. They promised me if there is anything wrong with it they can help me get another pair. They are a responsible vendor. I am changing my old review to a 5 star.“
