Understand that this is an electrician and that five stars is highly unlikely. After hiring Boz and his team, it came as mno surprise to me, why they do have five stars! They were referred to me by another electric company that I have used in the past, that was overwhelmed with business right now. That holds true to Highlights Chicago as well. Everyone in skilled trade is quite busy these days.

Here are the facts about the job:

Cut and reset a burned/melted wire in my breaker box.

Ran a heavy gauge wire through my conduit starting at my breaker box, fishing it through the conduit- room to room until they reached the destination outlet for a new 23@ volt outlet for a 20 AMP window ac/heater I desperately needed in the winter.

This is my second time leaving a review for Boz and his crew at Highlight Chicago because they continue to deliver above and beyond.

Most recently, they installed two high-powered LED security lights in our parking area along with five code-approved RAB vaporproof outdoor fixtures on our porches. The difference in safety and visibility at night is tremendous. He also handled the installation of string lights on our first-floor balcony, and the results turned out exactly how I wanted. Everything looks professional, well-planned, and adds both security and charm to our building .

Boz runs a top-notch operation—his workers are always polite, respectful, and leave the job site spotless. They go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy, which is rare to find in this business. Pricing is always fair and transparent, and most importantly, they always deliver on the job they’re doing!

I wish I could find a plumber as good as the electrician I’ve found in This company haha

“Current Electrical Contractors did an excellent job for us, below budget, on time, with smart, competent, conscientiously neat, and very personable staff, who offered advice, answered all of our questions, and left us with a house that is electrically sound for the 21st century. They replaced our 100-amp 75-year old panel with a 200 amp panel, which will accommodate future installation of an EV charger and a fully electric stove when desired. They logically re-organized and re-balanced our circuitry, with appropriate re-wiring as needed. They installed GFCI outlets wherever recommended by the electrical code. Our garage is now PHEV capable. Our kitchen now has dedicated circuits, and all outlets are GFCI. We had a mysterious kitchen exhaust fan with a mind of its own that had spontaneously only run twice in 32 years. We should have worried more about it, but we didn't. We thought it would need replacement, and that we better insure the soundness of its electrical wiring. Tom Rafferty, who ran our project, thought it might be revived if it got good electricity, and he persevered until he neutralized its bad wiring, and installed good wiring. And Tom was right. The fan motor turned out to be just fine, and now the fan runs like a jet engine. Very fun. Also fun are our closet lights, formerly activated by pull strings which broke years ago, which all activate by motion now. And the LED lighting in our formerly darkish-basement is now so bright that I think it will cure my SAD this winter. To summarize, we're very happy. We will always use Current Electrical Contractors in the future. We highly recommend them.“

“moved into our Glenview place last fall and the kitchen had this flickering recessed light that drove me insane. not like a subtle flicker either, full on strobe effect at random times. “I consider Jeff to be a teaching and reorganizing electrician. During this hot spell, the window AC tripped a circuit breaker. I was afraid to try it again, had to get it going, as my wife is 95, I'm 86.
Jeff checked out the AC, checked the circuit breaker, taught me that this kind of AC draws a spike of a charge when started, explained that there is a reset button on the plug. I had seen that but didn't know how to use it (our son bought it for us, so he has that paperwork for it.)
He moved the plug for a lamp, so that the AC doesn't have to share.
I appreciate all those things jeff said and did.
I asked how to pay him. Jeff said there 'd be no charge. This thank you is the least I can do in return.

“I had a very large job involving a lot of electrical components which basically consisted of all new service from the utility pole to my house and dropping the overhead components underground (new lines, new meter, new conduit, new electrical panels). I had a lot of different bids and guidance from various electricians on the project, but chose North Shore because they sounded the most reasonable and their bid was not too high nor too low (pro tip: low bids make me suspicious - you do get what you pay for typically). My experience with them is that they were responsive, prompt, the crew knew that came was friendly and knew what they were doing and it went fast without any issues. After the job I had an issue where my generator didn't appear to be working and even though that wasn't really their problem, since it had worked the last time they were on site they offered to take a look when they were in the area which I also really appreciated, so my take is that they will likely stand by their work over the long-term, too. I'd use them again for any electrical work.“
