Now you gotta help me out."-Cosmo Kramer, SeinfeldDa Scene: Like many recent reviewers, we were kinda freaked out by the appearance of some little black bugs (kinda like long ants) in a couple of areas INSIDE the house after the 1st rains of the season. In our case it was compounded by the fact that they appeared to be coming in through the ATTIC and dropping down; not coming up through the crawl space under the house. I found maybe a total of 20 of the little guys in 3 spots (kitchen counter under the range vent, guest bathroom under the skylight, and disturbingly; master bedroom under some recessed lighting, right on my pillow - Aaaaaaah!??!).After 20+ years in our home, it's the 1st occurrence so we were pretty concerned. After internet searches, image comparisons we determined subterranean termites and wanted them "taken care of".Da Work: Opened a YELP! Project and jobbed a quote out to several outfits with descriptions and images, wasn't happy with the 1st round of responses, did some more searching and added a few more manually. Contra Costa Termite Control's initial response stood out from the crowd. 1. Jen 1st took the time to explain the background of why this was happening (detailed in many other reviews, so I'll leave that out here) and to reassure us that we in the highest probability did NOT have an infestation; we would likely not see any more activity. She went on to suggest a wait and see approach before scheduling an unnecessary inspection.2. For piece of mind, I insisted that I'd like them to come out anyway to confirm her suspicions, it had been since we bought the house when we had the last inspection, so I thought why not?3. Joe came out and checked the crawl space only, explaining the odd source coming from the attic as during the initial "swarm" happening outside, a few of the little guys flew in through the attic vents and "went towards the light". He did find some other non-related/not urgent issues under our bathroom areas which we'll take care of in the spring. Quick & easy... parcheesy.Da Service: Can't sing their praises high enough. From start to finish this outfit is customer-focused, thoughtful and knowledgeable. They shared information freely and never pushed for services or action, only providing options. This can't be said of some of the other contractors who contacted us on the project... MANY were quick to push treatment options right off the bat. Great communications via YELP! then txt/sms, email invoicing and payment options like check, debit/credit card, Zelle or Venmo.Just a CLASS OPERATION all around - thanks for the help and use me as a reference anytime!“

“Paul and his crew with Norcal Rodent Proofing did a thorough job of cleaning out our crawl space ( very dirty with lots of insulation pulled down), placing plastic under the house and repairing holes in under house ducts caused by rodent damage. He likes doing a good job and imparts his expectations to his workers - he notices small openings and does a lot of the patchwork himself. He is willing to also work with reasonable owner suggestions or give feedback based on his experience. Rodent clean up and house proofing is hard and tedious work and of course the rodents can find their way back in after a few years so I will be happy to work with him in the future. He has a specific way of working ( being detailed with every client) so often runs late, but is good about letting you know so recommend being open ended about appt times. Have worked with numerous pest business' for my home in the past and I think Norcal has been the best so far in actually doing all of the work required.“

“Had a rat problem in the townhome I was renting out to tenants. First tried a couple guys from Thumbtack--they patched some holes and did some proofing, but kept wanting to charge me every time they came back without actually fixing the main issue. Then I found Gilbert. He guarantees his work for 12 months with unlimited pickups, but honestly, haven't even needed it since he did the job. Rodent proofing's tough to feel good about paying for, but I'd trust this team over the other guys for sure.“

“After 20 years, we suddenly found traces of mice in our home. We decided that we needed a professional or else we'd probably be forever dealing with the problem. We did a search and came across Echobots. We saw good reviews: quick, honest and reasonable prices. So we called for a consultation. Josiah came quickly and, after looking around, gave us a rundown of what he observed and his proposed course of action which made a lot of sense. He also gave us a draft cost estimate which was quite reasonable. He did not pressure us. Instead, he told us that he'll have an estimate typed up for our consideration. Monica sent us the estimate within a day and we approved the work.

When Josiah arrived, he did a thorough inspection around our home, found and fixed the entry points. He showed us where they were and the repairs that he had done. He then set traps around the suspected areas of activities including our attic. He came back to check on us weekly and took care of new developments until there were no traces of activity (two weeks).

Josiah took care in explaining things to us and answering our questions. He and Monica were very pleasant to work with and provided very good communication on next steps so we knew what to expect.

“I asked Oakland Hills Brush Clearing to come out to give an estimate on getting rid of a lot of poison oak encroaching near our house, and they recommended we have J Spray come out to spray the poison oak beforehand to reduce the risk for the workers (and reduce the overall cost).Dan came out and was helpful, honest, knowledgeable, realistic, and transparent. He was thorough and thoughtful! We definitely will ask J Spray to come out again in the future and we highly recommend them!!!“
