“This is a review based on my experience with John in 2023. John came on a short notice to repair our leaky kitchen drain connection. The metal pipe fitting in the wall was old but serviceable. The metal nipple screwed into it however was rusted and crumbly. John made a repair assessment that was cost effective and yet of dependable durability. He was meticulous with the main repair job and reworked surrounding disposer pipe connections that needed some attention. His fee was reasonable. I was very satisfied with the quality of his work.“

It was a big job that involved trenching the front yard to expose and remove the old line, tunneling underneath the driveway and sidewalks, and repiping the entire water line. Angel and his team responded promptly, understanding that we were completely without water. They managed the permit process and completed the work in one day. While they were working, a neighbor reached out to say that he had worked with Big Brothers before and congratulated us saying we had 'found the right plumber for the job.' The city permit inspector knew them by name and approved their work right away, saying it looked good as always. Oh and Big Brothers' bill came in at less than 1/3 of the other (corporate) plumber's bid. I guess if you're local and you know, then you know. This is the first call and best call to make when you need a plumber or gas pipefitter.“

“Many years later and Fito's has come through for us a few more times.

(2026) Most recently they had the best estimate for a new water heater, and they brought me a good one with a 10 year warranty. I was complaining about how it takes so long to get hot water in both of our showers. They suggested a newish-type of recirculating pump. It was only a couple hundred bucks more so I figured why not? Wow! Now that we've had the pump a couple weeks, I wish I'd installed it sooner. The master shower used to take 2-4 minutes to get hot, wasting so much water down the drain. Now we have hot water in 6 to 7 seconds! The pump itself has a built-in general 24-hour timer which I bypassed and instead connected it to my home automation system so that it's controlled with precision at the times and days we want it; plus I can turn it on or off with my phone at any time, anywhere.

(2 years ago) I had a problem with connections on a new gas cooktop a couple years ago - they got it squared away in no time. And while they were here, they did an inspection of the sewage system that they'd installed below, and solved an issue with it beeping sometimes by adjusting the float. And everything was working great.

(6 years ago) Our sewage injector pump in Oakland went bananas right after the holiday and needed to be replaced. But more than that, I already knew that the installation was very suboptimal and needed to be completely re-engineered. Sure, we could've only replaced the pump as-is but we'd be right back where we were one day.

Enter Fito Plumbers who quickly responded to my first call and began rethinking the layout & piping while getting our system working until the new pump came in. A job like this is part art and part science, and Arnul stayed true to doing what was right, making my options clear with an eye towards creating a much better system in the end. I'm not a plumber, but I am a chemical engineer and he and I worked well together with a common goal. Once the project started, all of the crewmembers were friendly, polite, conscientious and hard working.

In the end, we removed about 60-70 feet of unnecessary piping with far too many elbows which dramatically decreased the static head on the new pump. And by moving the tank uphill to a smarter location on a new platform they built under the house, we also removed maybe 90 lbs of water weight that the new pump doesn't have to push against. At Arnul's suggestion, we also doubled the system capacity with a larger tank so that it will last a long time with less cycling and more room for the submerged pump to operate. I have no idea what the original builders were thinking, but we now have a dependable system that my house deserves. And everything is very neat and very professional appearing with the wire harnesses and straps neatly positioned.“

But Amili and Akida found the issue with the drainage line and installed a pump to fix it. Overall it was much less than $1K and it’s like we have a new heater!
