When searching for hair alternatives/solutions, Munjela Glow Salon was one of the more positively rated salons. I booked a wig consultation appointment online and went in with minimal expectations.

I was welcomed immediately upon walking in and felt comfortable from the first interaction. Munjela listened to my concerns and expressed deep empathy for my situation. I tried on a few different wigs and found one that matched my natural hair color. It was longer in length than I initially thought I wanted and Munjela said that could always be changed later. I purchased the wig that day and have received nothing but compliments on how natural it looks, which has given me a much needed confidence booster.

“Mindy is an amazing hairdresser with decades of experience. I have been going to her for years. She gives honest feedback when I ask and will cut my hair taking into account the texture and my lifestyle. She makes my hair low maintenance, and it grows out still looking great (a sign of an expert). I have always had long hair but decided to go for a bob for the first time. She walked me through the process, adjusting to fit my needs. My husband also goes to her too for men cuts, and he received lots of compliments from the family. Thank you Mindy. “When I was a Stanford student, I picked Jane because it was convenient and affordable. Now I travel 40 miles to see her because she's the best!I haven't gotten a haircut in 2 years because of the quarantine. My hair was so damaged. It had grown below my butt and was completely fried. It felt like touching straw and the split ends had been creeping up the lengths. I thought my hair was ruined.The only person I trust to save my hair is Jane. I was worried that her salon might not have survived the quarantine. But when I called, I was happily surprised that she's still here! I don't know how she did it but she worked her magic and saved my hair. It's feels absolutely soft and is so shiny as if nothing ever happened. The best part is that she managed to keep my hair pretty long too. I'm so glad she's still here!When I was a Stanford student, I tried out several different hair salons in Palo Alto and Mountain View but none were able to cut my hair the way I liked until I met Jane. I was looking for something I could afford on a student budget. It's almost impossible to find a decent hair stylist in California that charges less than $100 for just medium length hair. But Jane only charges $45 even though my hair is very very long. She was also conveniently located because I didn't have a car but I could take the Stanford shuttle for free to see her. She didn't have a lot of reviews at the time but the ones she had were glowing.Jane is an absolute hidden gem. She really took the time to listen to me and get it right exactly the way I wanted. She makes my hair look so healthy and beautiful. She's the only one I trust with my hair now. I moved away but I still travel by train to get my hair done by her because she is absolutely amazing and over the years, I'd say we also developed a friendship. It's fun to talk to her.Last time, I came to see her, she told me the pandemic has been pretty hard on the salon and students don't really come to see her anymore. “I have been getting my hair highlighted and cut at House of Daniel on main for 26 years. Christine Caringello is my stylist, and she is incredibly skillful. I loathe sitting in the beauty chair, and I dislike complicated hair styles, as I am a Masters swimmer, and need a "doo" that is easy and QUICK to style. Chris can do a highlight faster (and MUCH more reasonably priced), than anyone else. Her hair cutting technique and dexterity is as good as anyone at the very expensive salons. Did I mention she can cut your hair expeditiously as well? I LOVE this place and would recommend it to anyone who need high quality styling, at a reasonable price, and doesn't like to spend time "in the chair". My 25 year old son prefers Chris Caringello to anyone else, and even though he lives in Los Angeles, he always makes sure that Chris will cut his hair Pro tip #1: Chris does not work full time so make your appointment a few weeks in advance the first time. Bring pix of your ideal hair style. Pro tip #2: The Italian Deli, Japanese Restaurant, and Mexican Restaurant nearby are awesome. Be sure to have lunch before or after getting your hair done. Pro tip #3: Downtown Los Altos is paradise for families with children. Check out Adventure Toys once mom gets her hair cut. Pro Tip #4: This salon does an excellent job on Men's hair as well, particularly men who have swirls (cow licks) in their hair. Pro Tip #5: The manicurist at this salon is head and shoulders above others in downtown Los Altos. She does a warm wax, massage, and nail polish job that will last and last. Make an appointment well in advance, as she is also popular. Her business model in not based on being the cheapest manicurist in Los Altos, she does a quality job.“
