705 S Brand Blvd, Glendale“I’ve been training at Legacy Glendale for a year and a half or so and I can’t recommend it enough.
From the very first day, the environment was incredibly welcoming; everyone helped to make you feel like you immediately belonged.
The instructors are a standout. They have a real knack for meeting you where you are, whether you’re just looking to learn at a relaxed pace or you want to be pushed to compete at a higher level.
The members here are a great mix of casual hobbyists who train for the love of it and dedicated athletes who are building themselves into competitors. It makes for a fun, motivated atmosphere no matter what your goals are.
If you’re on the fence about trying Jiu Jitsu, Legacy Glendale is the place to start.“

14208 Mulberry Dr, Whittier“We’ve been training at this gym for about 9 months now, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our family. I originally brought my kids in because they were shy and timid. From day one, the coaches and members were kind, respectful, and genuinely helpful. I'm in my 40's and decided to give it a shot.
Fast forward to now — my kids and I are more confident, social, and even competing. The growth hasn’t just been on the mats. We've taken the discipline, confidence, and work ethic that we learned into other areas of our lives. We're doing better at home, in school, at work, and in social settings.
The coaches are chill and laid back, but don’t let that fool you — they know how to push us to work hard and reach our goals. They created a culture that’s competitive yet supportive. It’s a safe, friendly environment, and that starts from the top with the leadership.
Grateful to be part of this team. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to build confidence, discipline, and resilience.“

426 West Foothill Boulevard, Monrovia“I was led to American Kenpo Concepts more than a quarter century ago when I saw the Kenpo movement of a student. As a result, I went in search of the student’s instructor. I visited several American Kenpo Karate schools in search of the Kenpo movement to no avail. My persistence to find the instructor eventually led to Mr. Tommy Chavies school - American Kenpo Concepts. I observed a class taught by Mr. Chavies and I observed the unique Kenpo movement I was intrigued by.
Since that time, I have been fortunate to be a student under the tutelage of Mr. Chavies. The study of American Kenpo Karate has led me to clarity in all facets of daily life as well as in the understanding of the Kenpo Alphabet of Motion applied to a combative situation. At this point in my study, I have discovered that Kenpo movement imagined within a combative situation could be effortlessly applied using continuous motion, comparative analysis and creativity.
The study of American Kenpo Karate as a student of Mr. Chavies has led me to appreciate the profound perennial study of the art which always stretches my thinking. I want to express my sincere thanks for Mr. Chavies' guidance. To be honest, simple words don’t quite capture the depth of my appreciation for everything he’s taught me.
If you want to be ready for any environment you may encounter within you, on you or around you, join us at the Studio and find application for the physical alphabet of motion you know, learn to be creative with motion, learn to have fun with motion, learn from a Master of the Art and discover the benefit of being flexible in thought and action.“

12521 Alondra Blvd, Norwalk“Like many of us, I’ve had my own personal struggles and issues. 8 years ago, I met sensei Marcos Rubio. I walked into the dojo one day and tried out a lesson with him. One lesson was all it took for me to know this was something I wanted to be a part of and I made the decision to sign up.
It was my first lesson, and my first time ever learning a martial arts class. Something I’ve always wanted to do since I saw “Big Trouble in Little China” when I was 4 years old. My favorite movie of all time!
Sensei Marcos is unlike anyone I had ever met, and he’s taught me so much over the years, and I am proud to say that he’s my Master, but I love this man like he’s my dad.
It’s amazing to know you have a great dad in your life, let alone 2. I’ve earned my black belt under him and today, not only am I student of his, but I’m an instructor as well, and now I’m a second degree black belt. He’s helped me with so much that it’ll never be enough to say “thank you”.
He helped me become a better person. He made me a better version of myself. I am forever grateful to Master Rubio for that. Not only him, but all the instructors here as well. Not only because they’re great instructors, but they’re great people.
Come on by and try it out for yourself. Z Ultimate is an amazing place to be. You’ll be amazed how much your life can change by just making the decision to take that first step to try…“

129 N Saratoga St, Los Angeles“This place is hands down the best place for BJJ practitioner to get better at throws and takedowns in Los Angeles. Don’t bother with other place for Judo b/c the majority of them don’t teach adults or their class slots are limited. Now it is true that they don’t really teach much unless you attend the fundamental class. But at one point in your BJJ/ Judo journey. You have to take responsibility in being objective in what you are weak in. BJJ is traditionally weak at stand up and the Sensei at Tenri through training will help you out in that area. Plus, even though they don’t teach during the regular class for adults. When you get your USA Judo membership, you automatically gain access to the American Judo System video library that Jimmy Pedro and Travis Steven’s created. The American Judo System video plus studying John Danaher Feet to Floor Series has accelerated my Judo training. I know that most BJJ practitioner fear being thrown which I get and Tenri has a reputation of not being beginner friendly but you can make your sessions at Tenri as hard as you want it to be. I promise you’ll be a better BJJ athlete coming training three days a week versus training one week before a tournament working standup at a BJJ school. Even if you don’t like stand up and you’re primarily a guard player. You’ll know the ins and out of stand up and pull to guard on you terms with you being the dictator of where the fight goes. As long you put in the mat time, you will reap the rewards of becoming a complete grappler.“

14615 Gridley Rd, Norwalk“Our family has been part of the Norwalk Judo community for many years, and I can confidently say this is an exceptional dojo. My child has been practicing judo for 8 years, and Norwalk Judo continues to provide the perfect balance of traditional values, discipline, and community spirit.
One of the things that sets Norwalk Judo apart is its dedicated team of volunteer senseis and they generously give their time and expertise to help the next generation of judoka. Their passion for the sport and their commitment to teaching is clear in every class.
Beyond technical instruction, Norwalk Judo emphasizes respect, perseverance, and teamwork. The students support one another, and there’s a strong sense of belonging. The dojo is also deeply engaged in the community center— from pancake breakfasts, bingo nights, annual summer festivals to participating in service events, they encourage students to give back and represent judo’s values off the mat as well.
We are grateful to be part of this incredible program. I highly recommend Norwalk Judo to any family looking for high-quality instruction in a positive, supportive environment.“

2020 Huntington Dr, San Marino“I’m a black belt here at TMAX, and my experience here for the past 4+ years has been nothing but great! The instructors are always nice and they do an astounding job at handling the super loud toddlers that keep screaming “6-7.” In most cases, this is just a fun thing for your kid to do while you go out and do fun things without the burden of a child holding you back; but kids that are serious about Taekwondo WILL get really good thanks to the help of the masters. Many of my peers here have the most amazing kicks, and morale is always high. Whether you want to get some great levels of discipline, great skills in martial arts, or just have something fun to do, then TMAX is the right place for you!“
