129 N Saratoga St, Los Angeles“This place is hands down the best place for BJJ practitioner to get better at throws and takedowns in Los Angeles. Don’t bother with other place for Judo b/c the majority of them don’t teach adults or their class slots are limited. Now it is true that they don’t really teach much unless you attend the fundamental class. But at one point in your BJJ/ Judo journey. You have to take responsibility in being objective in what you are weak in. BJJ is traditionally weak at stand up and the Sensei at Tenri through training will help you out in that area. Plus, even though they don’t teach during the regular class for adults. When you get your USA Judo membership, you automatically gain access to the American Judo System video library that Jimmy Pedro and Travis Steven’s created. The American Judo System video plus studying John Danaher Feet to Floor Series has accelerated my Judo training. I know that most BJJ practitioner fear being thrown which I get and Tenri has a reputation of not being beginner friendly but you can make your sessions at Tenri as hard as you want it to be. I promise you’ll be a better BJJ athlete coming training three days a week versus training one week before a tournament working standup at a BJJ school. Even if you don’t like stand up and you’re primarily a guard player. You’ll know the ins and out of stand up and pull to guard on you terms with you being the dictator of where the fight goes. As long you put in the mat time, you will reap the rewards of becoming a complete grappler.“

11942 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles“Great studio! My son has been taking classes here for over 3 years, since he was 3.5. The program has been amazing in both making him physically stronger and teaching him patience and focus, which has translated wonderfully for school and other activities. Group classes are structured by age and ability, ensuring that kids are challenged though still having lots of fun. Master Sampson and Sensei Bryce know how to encourage each kid to do their best. We recommend this studio to all our friends.“

2040 W Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Los Angeles“I went to Taekwondo International for 7 Years. At the time I was on my way to test for my third degree black belt. Unfortunately because of high school I was unable to continue my training. Now as an adult I have nothing but fond memories of the space and recommend Master Rolando Cordoba to any adult / child / teen looking for moral encouragement and discipline / guidance. Although strict in the class room, I at time would be the last student to leave the dojo because my elders would get out of work late. Master would until my parents arrived to pick me up to close the dojo. Thank you for everything Master Rolando Cordoba Sir.“

2100 Maple Ave, Los Angeles“Two Nations TK Collage is a great school. Very friendly environment for the kids and parents. Master Antonio who is a 5th Dan in TKD is an amazing coach and trainer. He makes each class very unique and entertaining with the latest techniques. Always working hard to help each of his athletes to reach their goals by taking them to important tournaments such us Nationals and State Championships. Thanks to all this, being able to wing more than 10 consecutive years including 2024, the award of The Best TKD school of the year in Los Angeles.
So if you are looking for a school to teach you or your kid/s discipline, respect, self control, become a great athlete this is the best school for you.“

123 S Hewitt St, Los Angeles“Old school training for mind and body. Old school meaning everyone scrubs the mats and learns the traditional way to do everything including sitting in seiza, it’s a tough workout with a philosophical approach that is full of depth, meaning and love. Sensei is the real deal and you can tell by the character and quality of his students, every single one of them a genuinely kind and compassionate person. Meditation at every class is a must. Group does volunteering, community work and will attend or host seminars with other branches. Really, an amazing experience away from everything you’ve experienced at a western style dojo, the goal here is simply to become the best version of yourself and shine the jewel inside you. You can feel the budo spirit being kept alive here by Sensei Uekuma and his students. They are open to accepting everyone looking to cultivate that same spirit and they even offer a zen aerobics class for seniors. Really cool dojo. Definitely some recommended quality training going on here. ✨“
