Two days ago, my husband and I experienced a small flood under our washing machine in our home laundry room located on the ground floor off the garage and driveway.
When it was determined that the washing machine was not the source of the problem, but instead caused by a blockage in the water pipes under the house, we knew we needed a skilled plumber as soon as possible.
After calling several plumbers who either showed little interest or could not come to our house until the following week, I called Gerber at Gerber Plumbing (Daly City). He was able to set an appointment for a free estimate the next morning (yesterday) and was able to service our house located in Contra Costa County. Gerber and his brother showed up on time and immediately diagnosed the blockage was caused by water backup due to roots in the main water line.
We learned that the water on the laundry room floor came from our upstairs garbage disposal, dishwasher, and even toilets (yuck!) that was being pushed back from the pipe into the lowest point in the house.
Gerber explained the repair process which included removing part of the driveway, digging out the soil and roots, replacing the blocked pipe, installing a new safety pop-up valve, and pouring new concrete. He provided a quote and started the project.
Gerber and his crew worked all day, completed the job, and honored the quote ~ all as promised.
