Most businesses I contacted told me they would need to send out a technician to diagnose the issue before they could even give me a rough quote. Fortunately, Terry Home Repairs came in with the best flat quote for replacing the valve by far.Mr. Terry showed up at exactly the agreed upon time--which is not something I can say for other contractors--and promptly went to work. He was very respectful of my home and my time. He was able to explain exactly what needed to be done. His pricing was not predatory at all. “My garbage disposal was leaking last night when I found water all over my kitchen floor. My landlord called Wacker and they came this morning and replaced disposal so I'm grateful for that but don't expect friendliness. When I met plumber and his assistant at my door this morning there was no exchange of greeting. When I'd ask a question there was silence and I'd have to say "hello?" Just not friendly in the least and when they were done the assistant left without saying goodbye and the plumber left a moment after the assistant and barely acknowledged me. Not looking for a pen pal but a little cordiality would have been nice.“

I think the cost for both jobs were reasonable and am satisfied with recommending them.“

This was a last ditch effort to avoid a time consuming labor job to replace the entire valve. The counter rep told me that the valve and parts were obsolete, but he offered to look for a used one in their parts bin. I walked out with a combo of used and new parts that enabled me to rebuild the valve. Saved me from having to do an hours-long repair. I'm now a loyal customer.“
